not sure if this has been posted anywhere as of yet so please no hate if it has

I am hoping the 360 community will come together in this thread to prepare for the September release of IL2BoP. I know I have been waiting for about two years now and remember my sense of awe at the first trailer.

Share your stories, tips, tricks, and whatever else you feel may contribute to the thread.

Also, this would be a great place to start collecting gamertags for the multiplayer mayhem soon to be ;)

The thread title says "Xbox 360" not Xbox live. This isn't just for gamertags.

If you quote me, please ensure the original context is preserved. Again, this thread is not just meant for gamertags. I know there are other threads collecting gamertags. There is no thread specifically for Xbox 360 gamers that I was able to find. I scanned 183 threads and all I could were discussions about compatibility issues and gamertags. If you DO know of one, I would be much obliged if you could provide a link.

I wasn't being smart I was just saying there was a few threads that were XBOX 360 oriented and I was just pointing that out. I am sorry if you took offense that was not my intention.

I'm sure you're aware that many people have never even heard of this game, let alone IL-2. If you get a Xbox 360 thread popped up near the top, it let's those new to the forum find a good place to start discussing the game. Like I said, I had to look through 183 different threads,found two, and was disheartened to find them both having to do with gamertags.

That is the way it has been for the ps3 as well. There is nothing really general posted, except tags and peripherals.

@moozicmon: By no means are we trying to gang up on you. I like the idea of your thread and I was simply laughing at trk's desire to bring awareness to existing threads. I've started doing the same around here because so many people have been starting new threads, when the very same threads exist elsewhere. I'm not talking about your thread, but more or less the threads about videos, achievements, and the like.

The community should be a good one; Over G in its hey day was great, and even BA2 had a decent community. It is too bad BA2 sucked so bad, though.

September is the month I've been waiting for since I purchased my 360:

IL-2 and Heroes over Europe.

I gotta say there was a time where I was trying to decide which would win my $... HOE will be fun, but I don't think it stands a chance against Bop.

I'm thinking about Over-G. I have seen a lot of love from the flight sim community, but nothing but hate from everyone else...

Over G online is pretty dead; the game is fun if you like more sim than arcade, but don't expect to see mp games outside of weekends.

Heroes has a console following already(because of HOTP), but I do think IL-2 has a bigger name overall. Plus, the campaign is a little more story driven in Heroes.

I'm getting both, so I win either way!

Out of curiousity, did anyone pick up Battlestations: Pacific? I bought it just for the flying and I was pretty disappointed in the game overall :(

Excellent game! It's not a flight game, it's an RTS that lets you take direct control of the units. I love taking the Iowas out on a rampage. ;)

I know, but I get quite agitated when I deploy my ships, fly for a little, return and they are going the opposite direction of where I told them to! Not to mention it is the dumbest enemy AI I have come across in awhile...

I actually bought it to hold me over till BoP, two very different games, but WWII era aircraft nonetheless :grin:

Ship AI is fine, if you give your ships an order on the map they will carry it out or get sunk trying. The enemy AI however has no appreciation for tactics, they will just send units at you in predefined patterns until one of you is sunk. The best part of the game is online though, because nothing beats going up against a human enemy.

See, I have yet to be able to join a match. Everytime it either takes forever and I give up, or it starts and then ends immediately. That is the only game I have experienced that with so I'm not sure what is going on :(

Try searching for ranked matches instead of player matches. Most of the players use ranked matches because only ranked matches give points to rank up.

But beware, I'm not a gaming professional, I do it to have fun. If I'm on your team and we lose, you can be sure that I did my best but didn't succeed ;)

Here's a short story

I always play Tiger hunt, and just go dogfight the Fighters ignoring the ground targets.
Starting the mission not diving down, so i've been spotted by a wing of about 8 FW190's.

In the dogfight action flew over the first target site making a wing of another 4 190's join the fight.

Chasing a 190 and being chased by one i suddenly saw another coming in straight at me from 10 o clock.
Pointed my nose at him opening fire head on. I dodged the plane and it crashed right into the FW190 behind me.
So i looked behind me and saw pieces of both planes just falling down.

Makes me wonder, can you fire at planes and they explode? Or does it only happen with direct air crash?

It depends where you hit them!

yea but never seen them Explode into pieces like a direct crash.

I seem to recall doing this to a bomber, I just kept shooting even after it lost a wing and BOOM! That being said, I haven't noticed it happening since...

Same here, I shot a bomber after it was going down already and it blew up.
