Junkers 88 code LV+3U

Please, may someone tell me which Luftwaffe bomb unit used this code?. I only know that she was a Junkers 88 and flew on the Eastern Front.

I would like to prepare a skin with it and make some screenshots in IL-2.

Many thanks

hmmmm, Like the ones in Norway and Finland?

FAE_Cazador 06-27-2009 09:58 AM

Sorry I can not say the variant. I only know it was a bomber and was shot down in Russia. The father of a friend in Germany flew in it as a Radioman, bailed and survived, badly hurt. These are the only data he can remember

As far as I know, LV shoud be the Unit Code and 3U the Staffel code and the number of plane in that Staffel.

On the basis of that, i wish i could help more,
but theres not much more i can think of, sorry

Or may be the code is reversed, then 3U+LV, is the right one. In this case, would "V" for Staffel, and "L" for plane in the Staffel, be correct according to the Luftwaffe Standard Codes?

Thank you for your kind help.

With it that way round it does make more sense

Its possible to be one of the C-6s that were used in Russia as train busters and long range fighters.

Hello, Alpha, my only one source are the comments of my friend about his father's WWII experience. He says he flew a WWII with these markings (he has made even a plastic model with them), was shot down in the East Front (not specifying the area) and lost a leg after bailing.

I know these were very few evidences but I thought the code was a good one, but now I see that it could be wrong. Just, for instance being 3U+LV instead.

His father is now >90 years old and is not in position of giving more info, unfortunately. Just we wanted to make a nice picture with a screenshot of this plane using IL-2 skinning facilities.

Anyway, many thanks to everybody for the help.

That's a shame..............

Would have been nice to have gotten more info from him regarding his operations and his actual unit he was assigned to.

These pilots and crew members are becoming scarce these days, obviously due to their age, so any information is always useful and of the greatest interest.
