Still crashing on freedom isle

Although my steam game updated just now, I seem to still be crashing when I attempt to either go to freedom isle or simply load a previous save where my character is already there. Is anyone else getting this same problem or has it been fixed for everyone else? I had read in some other posts/forums that it was now working for others, though it seems to still be broken for me. suggestions?

spooky612 05-23-2009 02:02 PM

yup still happens

ya i still have the same problem. saved games are back and still just as broken.
When i go to the western islands it now fully loads and goes to a black screen with the mailed pointer finger. then crash and the kd.exe unexpected error window pops up.
i guess it gets closer to working than it did before :(

still need this fixed guys.

I registered to this forum just to voice my dismay of having to start a new game for the THIRD time just because of the patches. First it patched and my game wouldn't load, it crashed right away, then I started a new game played a while, and then it patched again, and now THIS save game wont work anymore either. GOD DAMNIT!

Fix that bug, because its freaking annoying, and I will NOT play it again for the third time, just to get it to become invalid from the next patch.

EDIT: phew, venting. Anyway, wouldn't have been that big a deal if it was a crappy game, but it isn't :( Usually been quite happy playing 1C games.

I am also running the Steam-purchased version of the game.

All my saves are all on Freedom Isles and they will not load. I don't remember seeing any Steam updates to KB but it's always running, it could've updated without me seeing it. The game version still reads 1.7.

We're going on about a month now without me being able to play my game. I'm not going to get all bent out of shape and throw a fit but I sure would appreciate a fix. You got my money, then patched (broke) my game, let's have some speed fixing it, eh?

Will try to fix this issue asap. And one question, do other locations load properly?

Yes. I started another game just to test things out and other games load fine.

I can email you a save or something if you like.

akn 05-25-2009 07:18 AM

Yeah, got no problem loading other locations (as far I can tell), if you are inside a cave or outside the isle, there is no problem, but as soon you sail or exit the cave, crash to desktop. Must be something wrong with the map or something.

Nike-it 05-25-2009 07:26 AM

Thanks for quick answers, I'll contact the devs asap.

spooky612 05-25-2009 03:24 PM

just western islands

i was traveling all over the world and i only have the issue traveling to the western islands. im currently stuck in the eastern islands and got there by sub.

so ya no problem with loading crashing etc anywhere else in the game just now western islands. sounds like the crack team is back on it though...

Brilhasti 05-25-2009 03:27 PM

Yes I'm on western Ilse too.

gsdspif 05-25-2009 07:04 PM

yeah, all the locations I've tried to get to on the starting continent load up fine and there's no problem with that. Whenever I try to load a game on the western isle though, it always crashes, or if I try sailing there from the starting continent.

unfortunately, I can't tell if any of the other maps are corrupt like this as I can't really progress in the game at this point, but at least the western isles keep crashing me and won't allow me to get any further.

Nike-it 05-26-2009 06:15 AM

Guys, please post your corrupted save game (use attachment) so I will be able to send it to the devs and they will fix this problem faster!

Okay, here is two of my savegames, one which crashes as soon it loads (quicksave 1), the other one crashes as soon you leave the cave (quicksave 3).

Nike-it 05-26-2009 12:28 PM

Thanks a lot, as I said, we'll try to solve this issue as fast as possible

I have exactly the same problem. My game is stuck in Eastern Islands, because I saved there before the patches. I can't load the game at all, after load screen, it crashes and kd.exe unexpected error window pops up.

It worked for one day after the first correction patch, but unfortunately I didn't save it anywhere else.

Nike-it 05-27-2009 06:23 AM

Thanks to all. The saves are sent to the devs, the fix should be ready soon.

If not mistaken, the saves should be here: My Documents\My Games\Kings Bounty or smth like this.

Nike-it 05-29-2009 06:22 AM

HAVENT heard much any scuttle butt nike on a fix?

Nike-it 06-11-2009 07:47 AM

Guys the fix is sent to Steam and it should be available via automatical update. Now the saves should work. Please inform if any issues appeared.

theif_3_wannabe 06-11-2009 10:31 PM

Steam really needs to add the update history log to this game.... mine still crashes but I can't tell if Steam applied the update yet.

akn 06-12-2009 01:44 PM

Yeah, amen to that. Don't know if it has updated or not, since there never is any news update for this game, but I hope that it hasn't been patched yet, since my savegame still crashes.

spooky612 06-13-2009 11:29 PM

??

ya i havent seen any update history on this game when i try to check. i do know that i still crash loading the western islands. has this fix really been sent too steam? i have no way of knowing if mine is updated or not.

it has been oh i think 2 months now since ive been able to play this game.

ackbar51 06-15-2009 03:04 AM

Still crashes for me, can't tell if update was applied recently.

Game menu says Version 1.7 Build 35.398

Brilhasti 06-15-2009 05:45 AM

Still crashes for me as well....

Nike-it 06-15-2009 08:49 AM

According to the post with build number, Steam hasn't released the fix. We wrote to them to make it available ASAP.
After installing the fix, the build should be folloving: 35234

Brilhasti 06-15-2009 02:36 PM

Great, thanks, I'll look for it.

akn 06-16-2009 04:01 PM

What the hell is steams problem, why hasn't the patch been put into the system?!! This is just stupid!

akn 06-17-2009 10:08 AM

Nike-it, I was just thinking, since the new version number is LOWER then the currently one, are you sure our game will update then? That steam doesn't check version number and sees we got a newer version installed and doesn't need this one?

I was wondering about that as well.

As of today though, still no update and still crashing when loading.

spooky612 06-19-2009 10:37 PM

???

Brilhasti 06-24-2009 12:05 AM

Any feedback is appreciated. Shall we remain patient for this Steam update?

Nike-it 06-24-2009 06:07 AM

Will try to contact them today.

news

i emailed steam regarding the lack of a patch. here is the reply.

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

We are aware of the update. We are working on getting it released. Please keep your game files up to date so when the update is released it will be added to your account.

Oh the frikking irony...yeah, I will try keep my game files up to date, because thats always good *cough*

But damn they are slow, how hard can it be to add an update???

spooky612 06-29-2009 03:14 PM

?

IM not sure but i suspect like anything some companies pay for faster support. i also found that quip about keeping my game current rather silly in light of the situation.

theif_3_wannabe 07-02-2009 08:20 PM

Being able to patch our own steam games would be nice....
