I know this is not neccessarily the place but... THANK YOU RUSSIA...
I just found out about this this week... and this is the ojly place i frequent that is connected to Russia.... so...
THANK YOU RUSSIA FOR THIS. ~!S!~ |
I have never seen this.
Sad to say it. |
Interesting, that was very kind of Russia and a fitting memorial for a very sad and tragic day. Didn't know that myself. I wonder however if the US and British Governments will be so kind as to build a similar monument to remember the (at Least) 120,000 to 1 Million dead Iraqi civilians since the illegal and unwarranted invasion, depending on which source and methodology you proscribe to. Thats more per annum than at any time Saddam was in power during his 35 year reign. Somehow I don't see it happening.

Well, me being a cynic I had to check to see if this was real. It is!! Good find, Boss. I guess such things remind us that we can actually step away from the edge sometimes and do something not purely in our own interests. Way to go, Russia. Now hurry up with SoW before I lose this brotherly feeling. ;)

Good find Bearcat! I want to thank the people of Russia for a stunning, beautifull memorial. I am ashamed of out news media for not covering this, but not surprised. I will be in Bayonne tomorrow by the shipping docks, I will try to eyeball it.
|
And while we're on the topic a REALLY big THANK YOU for
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov A true planet saving super hero! The most under appreciated man on Earth?Even if he were not still alive the media neglect of this gentleman who lost his job as a result of his heroic actions would be shameful. That he lives in relative poverty is a crime . PS Bearcat this is about 10 minutes drive from where I live in Ireland . http://www.kildare.ie/donadea911/ |

Back on topic. I am very impressed (and touched) by Russia's gesture. I am equally upset that this was not covered by the media. |
PS I apologise for the "language" that was wrong, I lost my temper but what I said was true. Western civilian lives are not "worth" any more than Iraqi civilian lives, show me otherwise doolittle or shut up please.....Human tragedy is not the sole preserve or property of one Nation, sorry if the truth hurts but I stand by what I said.
Out. |

Bearcat put up a good thing, and then we get the twist on it.
Solve the world problems on some blog that caters to it. There are about a million of them. Thanks |
And a big thankyou to the firemen who put that out.

I must ask again about what you know that I don't. What makes you able to pass down judgment on, ultimately, the American soldiers, and even some of your own British soldiers whom I have had the privilege of working with. It is easy to judge when sitting in the comfort of your own living room, having never put your life on the line for your nation AND for others, or am I wrong, and you are a combat veteran like me. I am still at a loss that you would turn a "Thank You" thread into anything else. I expect posts like your original on YouTube, not here. Edit... It still effects me deeply that another country has sent us such a beautiful gift. Simply incredible. Has it been since the Statue of Liberty that the US has received a monument/statue from another country? |

You didn't complain about the thousands slaughtered, raped and tortured by pirates in the Buccaneers-thread, and I never saw you participate in one of the all evil Nazi-Germany threads with a similar attitude either? Kind of a selective good'n'bad policy? |
Guys, this forum is for games! This topic is very important, but this is not right place to discuss it. Thread is closed and moved to "Other Topics".

Thank you for unlocking this thread Nike-it.

Can someone please tell me when it was decided by Russia to design and send over this beautiful monument. I would really like the know the whole story, from the first thought up to the delivery here in the states.
I would also like to know why this monument was placed in such an obscure spot. Not only is the monument in a not very high profile place, but not even our own media reported on this. How many people who don't know about this monument will just happen across it? I am an American, an All American (82nd ABN) in fact, and this is one of those times where I am really upset how America handled this. |
Choctaw, maybe we should send this link to our local newspapers, or TV stations?

ahh USA, Russia, Japan, G. Britains mutually "love"....ehmm....I wont type anything on that topic because they would delete my post or lock the tread.....its always the "big boys" victims, glory and glorification....small "suckers" and "enemies of the modern era and democracy" (cuba, irak, afghanistan, cecenia, tibetans...etc...maybe even we in smaller countries in europe)....who cares for their and our victims?...deads....you just dont give a f....k...... Ill tell you....i have friends in the usa, GB....france....nice ppl.....but one word for their governments is - cynicism and other - hypocracy...and so many ppl from those countries buy that shit....
on topic: its nice that they built that monument...I can always support that if they were honest....but with what intentions monument is built?....who decided? ppl or government? With what purpose or goal? To make some political points ofcourse....yesterday, demonized eachothers - today "big friends" and "mindful brothers"...what a cinical world....i can puke |

I say let's unite the people of the world to puke on all politicians. Maybe even have an Earth_Puke day celebration where we pull our leaders into the streets and let them run the gauntlets of puking citizens. Maybe even have a projectile hurling contest to see who can puke on a politician from the farthest away. Would the winner use indirect fire? Maybe an arcing hurl? btw don't think people don't care about the smaller countries. We do, but mostly people are just looking after themselves where ever they are. Politicians are the ones who don't give a darn. That makes them perfect targets for burning-hot streams of puke. Don't you think? Flyby out |
Thanks Nike..
This was int he newsd.. it was just so... low key.. anyway I think it is such a beautiful monument... IMO it should have been publicized more... it probably wasn't because we still have yet to get ours up but to not even give this much shrift... smacks of all that was wrong in the previous administration. (Not that I said.. all that was wrong in the administration... NOT all in the administration was wrong..) |
Hmm
Why no nation wide or even world wide news ?? In a word !! Embarrassment |
