Wow!

Very deep reading, nice. I didn't expect the story on the contrails and how they appeared different between MiG-15 and F-86.

Interesting he didn't like early MiG-17 without afterburner, and preferred MiG-15bis.

very nice job - its an extremely interesting account of both wars from "instructors" perspective :)

and yes :) - eagerly waiting for project Galba :)

thank you for these interviews....., you are doing a great service for all aviation enthusiasts...

S!

To be honest - no. Talking to veterans made me understand how far game is from RL. So i sold my joystick and begun flying real airplanes...

P.S. Post the link to other forums, plz...

well...OK. Glad you can do that. But for those among us who enjoy a good "SIMULATION" (and maybe enjoyed MiG Alley too) this new sim on the Korean Air War will be most welcome. Enjoying RL flying plus simming are not (necessarily) mutually exclusive from one another, ya know.

* thump *

I'd like to keep this one near top. Wonderful stuff in here.

This one had to hurt, something bad here....

At a regiment formation, the regiment commander presented me a small-caliber rifle of Czechoslovakian manufacture for some sortie that he liked. It had an inscription plate. It was later taken away from me. The militia kept pursuing me, and finally I gave it up.
FPS, I can't say more, but I'm working with another on a RD-10F Yak-19 for another sim. That would be sweet for FB/PF.

hehe, I gave up flying because post-modern aviation offers nothing for history that I'm interested in, but the real reason is money better spent on other things. The Sims, although all crippled products to some degree, are the only way to simulate air warfare and associated mission planning on a large scale. Anyways, we can't fly civilian planes to 15km altitude, and the post-modern military superHUDjets are all...embarassing. I can understand why Oleg "hates jets," according to the rumour anyways. But, all the crap jets in 1946 gives hope that he just got sickened from the post-modern jets he originally trained for as engineer. So, hopefully, Oleg likes crap jets. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...eys/thumbs.gif

Well... I definitely would... If I had a chance to fly in one of those... But I don't like 15k flights, my favourite alt is 50 to 100 meters AGL... Way more challenging.

Where can you fly at that alt without being arrested?

LEXX 05-04-2009 01:19 AM

Nah, I can drive or ride a bike at that altitude.

Military aviation has always -- by primary budget expenditure -- been focused on ENERGY -- Higher-Faster-Further -- until about 1960 when it died off, replaced with ballistic missiles and plastic planes designed around Lower-Slower-Same, the Japanese Zero concept or "Samaurii Warrior" Turn And Boyd dogfighting under a ballistic missile umbrella.

Does anyone know how to get into the English version of airforce.ru? Whenever I go back into the "history" section it reverts to Russian.
