Awesome Abandoned Airfields, Airports and Aircraft [42 PICS]

Air travel has become a major part of our society, with industries and individuals depending on air transport for their livelihood. But have you ever wondered what happens to the artifacts of our airborne culture when they're no longer needed? More..

Hmmmmmmmm........ This is a tough one. Is this a real post or some scumbag spammer? I'm not sure if this link leads to some cool junkyard photos or a virus. I think I'll let the security guy in me rule the day on this one.

This is the damn shame about these predators, you just can't be sure about anything. If I'm wrong, I'm sorry.

If old airfields are your thing go here:

http://www.controltowers.co.uk/Intro.htm

This guy has made a project out of obtaining photographs and even sometimes visiting the site of EVERY major World War II airfield in Britain.

A great resouce for map makers and mission builders.

Yeah. Went through a really rough 3 month stretch and just coming out of it. all is well now. I just can't get onto UBI from work anymore...for now. Trying to setup a workaround.

The one good thing about the rough stretches is they help us appreciate the smooth ones. Glad things are better.

Hmmm... up to a point.

If you've had a looong one, they just make you nervous that the good times can't last. I've reached the best place in my life since Jan, but every day it crosses my mind that I have to be prepared for a crash.

I can't dissagree, that's why I said the only thing. What does not kill us may well make us stronger, but the scars still bloody well hurt.

At any rate it's still good to hear of some folks coming out the other side. Big frickin' battlefield life can be.....

I don't agree that what doesn't kill us necessarily makes us stronger. Strokes for instance, kill 1/3rd of us, but the survivors are usually definitely weaker for having had them.

No offence intended, but since having a stroke, that phrase annoys me a lot, I was never keen on it, but now it's much worse to me.

OMG!
There seems to be even Foxbats, a quite mythical interceptor! :(

Very, very sad views ...
But thanks to that site for showing them to us.

I think the nearest aircraft in that picture is a MiG-25 Foxbat, but I think the next two may be MiG-31 Foxhounds? Anyone who knows?

I meant no offense either, and as for for quoting Nietzsche, I'll only do it to refute him. My original quote was meant in a spiritual sense, and only in a limited way (in fact I worded it as questioningly as I could). I certainly never meant to minimize your experience. Or your pain. (and that goes for TB and TT as well)
