Massive spam attack!

News at eleven. Spammers beware, The Great Oleg will strike you dead!

Definitely time for some antispam measures. It's completely irresponsible to allow this kind of crap on a gaming forum.

Give the Admins here some time. You don't really believe they approve of this kind of posts now do you?

+1

On top of that...

...guys, don't reply in those threads.:!:

Yeah, give them some time.

Running my own forums I know what a pain these guys can be once they FIND a forum.

Of course a lot are bots and you can change up the sign up forms to fool the bots and mess them all up..

but increasingly, there are a lot of PAID people that do it manually now.

As I have mine set up so that you HAVE To be sitting at the PC and manually sign up. There is no way a bot can do it.
And I still get a very large number of spammers signing up (of course I have mine set so I have to manually authorize a new account before they can post.. that is harder to do on larger public forums like this).

The best thing we can do, is start shooting them.
That would be a decent deterrent in my opinion.

The fact that the posts have been here for almost a day shows how actively this forum is moderated.

Can we torture them a while first before the shooting please?

Sounds like a plan. Perhaps being locked in a room with the greatest hits of Barry Manilow playing constantly on a loop. Three days of that and they'll be begging for a quick end.

flyingbullseye 10-02-2008 10:14 PM

Barry Manilow? I got to believe you can do better than that. I'd say Barney or the Tellatubies on a continous loop locked in with Michael Jackson and Pauly Shore on drugs. Then just for good measure make them watch early Jackie Chan movies. I'd be impressed if they could ask for a quick end after that.
