Will SOW be friendly to limited Mods?

Skins, maps, smokes, cockpits, sounds, music, background, planes... how much freedon will have people enjoy this creations? 1C cant do all, the comunity want all and more.
You can sell a "key acess" to limited parts of game, hope 1C think more about.

DKoor 09-09-2008 11:07 PM

I just hope there will be some kind of protection/control over that.
Otherwise I'm not against it.

Yes to the both of you. If you read Olegs Q&A you will see.

S!

Its unfortunate considering IL2 made its reputation for quality based on not allowing 3 million ridiculous user downloads, but true.

I suppose in the end the clamor for novelty had more commercial value and money speaks.

WTE, your computer game is ruined http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ileys/Clap.gif, so move along now.

Not at all ... no one can make you install mods its still a free choice.

Just pointing out the mad mod enthusiasts that want to fly B52's with bf110 cockpits over the new Antartica map actually had that possibility in MSCFS all along :)

You did not point out any players guilty of your accusation.

There is higth quality works too, from people like us: crazy for IL-2, they deserve consideration for his time and dedication.
belive me, this will be great for SOW, let ONLY FM CLOSED and the problem is fissished.
More people will have more motivation to buy the game, not only for pleasure simulator but the pleasure do a good or not so good work, leave that choice for their customers.
This will stop the endless requests impossible to meet and more people will be happy with SOW.

 at both of you.

The mods for SOW will be more controlled than for other sims, and will allow more possibility to get content that the users want now. Il-2 was never "meant" to be modded so while there is some good stuff being made modders have had to work in the dark and yes not all the stuff is good.

It is far better when the devs are friendly to modders, like for the Silent Hunter series, and the players can then benefit.

I really think there is room for some control so we could guard quality (I agree with Galway here, Il-2 was better in that respect than the free for all of MSFS) and online integrity. We also can have the participation of talented people working for the betterment of the sim.

If you claim to want "quality" then you setup a "Joe's Mods" website that offers only your approved "high quality here" downloads. Others can setup theirs. When you get angry that others have equal quality work (more likely, higher) that you don't want any to use, and Oleg's customers enjoy them when you don't want them to, then your game is ruined.

IL-2 was better than CFS because Microsoft abandoned its sim, and Oleg did not abandon his sim, although Oleg did cripple his own sim including the flight models to save "free" anonymous public online gaming from itself. Private servers have always maintained high "integrity" as they had no need for Oleg to "protect" them.

Please don't put words in my mouth.

I may have mis-understood you. If so, you failed to make yourself "clear" and you need to.

If I find a good job of "Joe's Mods" I will use it, I am capable of assessing what is good quality or not, the game isnt ruined, Time has proven that the mods were positive for IL-2 and will for SOW too, but with official permission.
FM: It is the sacred place of OLEG, and he will have more time for work their revisions, all agree with that.

Brasilian IL-2 comunity.

He plans to allow *possibly* independent 3rd Party addon planes, and if this goes through ("we shall see" ~Oleg), that means addon FM. Oleg crippled his own FM to "save" online play from itself -- see my RBJhttp://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...mileys/RBJ.gif SiG -- and if we recall, there was the episode when apparently Oleg pumped up the Corsair FM so dogfight server players could take off static carriers while fully loaded. There is nothing "sacred" about Oleg FM. There is nothing new under the FB sun.

The one thing only Oleg can do is make a game engine, and FB/PF is probably the best out there for The Sims, and offers a very immersive feeling for Pacific carrier ops, and is well worth a far higher box price if the game is open to community addon content. If not...

...This is not a negative critique of Oleg, in fact just the opposite. The air warfare environment is the core and driver of air warfare simulation, not Oleg's nor 3rd Party cute little flight models (Yeager: its the pilot, not the flight model). I wish Oleg best success, and that means modelling the air warfare environment (go oleg!).

JoeA 09-11-2008 10:17 AM

Lexx, you haven't even flown the game from its latest versions, from the 4.xx onward have you? Do you have any proof for your assertions??

LEXX 09-11-2008 10:44 AM

4.0something...I totally gave up before Pe-2. In 4.0+, Oleg did start a new generation of "pre BoB" flight models, requiring trim to fly properly, and allowed his customers to use that trim for the first time since, what, original IL-2? For most of the life of FB/PF, this sim had no practical method of aircraft trim, but the flight models were dumbed down to match so they didn't require trimming for the online dogfight crowd.

So much for "sacred" flight models.

Now, do you want to talk here? As Oleg says: Pay attention please. :)
