I didn't buy IL2 all those years ago because I was a gamer, I wasn't. I picked it up because I love aircraft.

Oleg made the sim for the same reason, he loves aircraft.

Flying is the true religion, not gaming.

How many more of these negative threads do we need? Seriously...its like you people think if you start whining that SoW is canceled, SoW will never be released, 4.09 is dead, ect. Oleg will coming running to prove otherwise. Perhaps he is as tired of reading the BS as the rest of us are. Its old and annoying so please give it a rest. If you dont believe then why bother still visiting the forums let alone posting in them. Spend some time attending to real life issues or something.

Thats right. They are the only thing that is holding my interest for this game. If you been playing this game since 2001 like I, then you need something and mods were the answer for me.

We are all but cosmic dust held in the mind of Oleg. At his whim we are at times very engaged, At other times we are "whimsical". All at Oleg's compelling. Within his mind universes are formed, live and die along with the multitudes of flora and fauna therein. But are beer farts modelled? I think not.

So.....er.......it's back to whining about 4.09 and SoW! This is the dysfunctional aspect of this forum.

there must be someplace online where people can discuss the mods without persecution? Why risk discussing them here? Not worth it. So someone PM someone to pm someone else about where such a discussion can take place, then take it there.

I'd observe that BoB:SOW has taken on the feeling of a fabled second coming to some. Not for I necessarily though, I've been waiting long enough to figure if or when it gets here, great- if not, life goes on.

Maybe growing up a Chicago Cubs fan has given me some of this perspective ;)

To cut thru the crap. The IL-2 series has served us well over the last 8 years, but now the community is looking for a new combat flight sim. OM has shown us he can develop a benchmark combat flight sim, so most of us see no reason he can't develop the next benchmark in WW2 simming. I've seen more evidence that SOW will be a benchmark sim than to the contrary.

There may be some competition hidden in the wings, but we have seen very little evidence it. Although there is evidence that KOTS a WW1 sim will stand with SOW and compliment it.

It will be interesting to see if OFF 3 will finally turn a sow's ear into a silk purse. I'm not sure they have made enough improvements to compete with future combat flight sims. Although I will buy the product and check it out. The same goes for the Merlin engine, it is improving, but its painfully slow. Both sims will still have a faithfull, but small community.
