Well in this forum, alot of people have been saying " Why doesn't Oleg incorporate the mods into 4.09 patch!" (or words to that effect!)

Well 1C did a similar thing and now their being crucified for it! Now there is some double-standards!

Oh please don't open up that can of worms again Pirates Vs Moded.

Pirates= money for illeagel copyrights
Moded= free enhanced content for game

Geez guys, come on use your heads a bit..

My personal opinion is that the pirates stole and ripped off Ubisofts game, why shouldnt they steal the crack if they need it?

BTW I have NO affilation with Ubisoft, I am simply an IL2 forum mod, I have no contact with Ubi at all apart from with other IL2 forum mods.

JG52Uther 08-16-2008 04:40 PM

Strange its not been mentioned on the other ubi forums yet,or maybe it has and been jumped on pretty quick!

...its a joke (its a bad ironic type joke...but its still ment to be a ha, ha...).

If people are still soooo sensitive about the issue that they can't overlook a simple little syntax "error" (?) for the sake of a joke...well, then I give up the boat.

People need to step back and take a breath... :)

p.s. Actually...if the people that made the "mod" did so for the sake of the community (no profit intended)...then they should be flattered that 1C is making it more available for the "fans"...right(?) Who cares how the fans are helped, just as long as the gaming experience is being improved for everyone...right(?)

Actaully I picked it up from the magazine I subscribe to. Just goes to show that not everything is so black and white in the games industry.

Typical!

try to help a new player get his purchase to run and you risk a ban on Ubi, but you promote all the stolen content you wish; the more screen shots the better.

Feuerfalke 08-19-2008 10:08 AM

Yeah, good example!

This was in various online-gaming magazines a few weeks ago. The NoCD-Patch solved an issue with the copy-protection and some guy from UBI thought this would be the easiest way to get around that problem and uploaded the crack on the UBI-Servers.

It was the Crack 1:1, so it was no piracy. They just changed the name, according to the articles.

Nevertheless, it cost the guy at UBI his job and he will also have juristical consequences, because the crack does not only modify copyright protected stuff from UBI but also from the company who developed the copy-protection.

So I couldn't agree more: Double standards and a lot more complicated than doing something, because it's fun and you have the tools to do so.

Oh! And I got banned for five days for mentioning the afore mentioned crack in a supprt forum on this very site. This despite owning every incarnation of the game ever made. Bought IL2 Complete Edition supposedly the complete IL2 and a month later they release 1946 lol...
So how you guys can talk about it unchecked for so long is amazing

And the only thing that would have helped the guy was the afore mentioned unmentionable which you have mentioned

Indeed.

On the other hand, I'd prefer a 5 day ban over losing my job and being prosecuted for software piracy.

Besides, number of copies bought was never a good argument. I bought the complete version for 5 of my friends, just to find out a month later that 1946 was a standalone-version - LOL.

ROFL

I think it a bit harsh to get banned over something that was public knowledge.
