Favorite of the Valkyries Award
I've started two games now and my Valkyries have progressed in both of them and I use them in every battle. However in the Awards screen I'm always in 0/10 for my Favorite of the Valkyrie award. What do you need to do for this award?

you need to talk with Vakyries and ask to use special abilities |
Thanks, I have a follow up question **spoiler alert.
I'm just getting started in Greenwort but now Christa wants me to immediately go back to the Viking Isles to defend from the Greenskins. I assume this is not even possible right now so does it matter if I just leave her hanging until I can go back or should one hang off on doing the Valkyrie 5th level quests until later? |

Conversely, you can "commit suicide" and you will also go back to the homeland. There isn't a time limit, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. You won't get in trouble. Also, are you sure it is Christa? Christa is a gold digger... she wants 1M bucks. I think it is the "rage" girl. You do get +4 more rage on top (up from +24 to a total of +28 rage) and when you ask her for "rage" in dialog mode she will fill your rage to the maximum value. Not really worth losing game time for in my opinion. |
Thanks ckdamascus. I decided to go back for the extra rage and knock off a few of the quests that required coming to Greenwort. Plus as a Soothsayer I could use the extra rage regardless of how little. I also got an intellect boost from defeat orc armiers.
However I cannot seem to complete the quest for Gudrida's rage. I defeated 3 orc armies on the first 3 viking isles but there doesn't not appear to be any on Issterberg. Gudrida is still at level 4 so there is something I'm missing but I don't know what. There is no way to get the original dialog for Gudrida's Rage quest. Does anyone know what I need to do? |

It should also update your progress on how many orc armies you have killed and tell you they are found across all 4 islands. Just kill any stray army with an orc in a viking island and you should be able to complete it! As a side note, if +4 rage is really that big a deal, do you have that Spear or Rage weapon? :) Or getting even one point in Anger (going up that tree) can be fairly helpful. I wouldn't go too nutty as I'm intentionally keeping my rage levels low so I don't max out too early like I did with the Warrior/Viking build. |
Thanks again. I must be 1 army short and since I didn't find any on the Issterburg it must be there.
I'm 1 rage point short of being able to cast Gudrida's Rage right now and actualy I don't have Gudrida as senior right now so I'm doinig this for 1 point! I don't have the spear but since I'm a Soothsayer I don't think it would be best anyway would it? I have the leadership Valkyrie senior but I do wonder if I should make the rage Valkyrie senior even if I'm a Soothsayer? |

Having her as a senior gives you a LOT of rage points. In fact, out of all the abilities, I think +rage is the best since the opportunity cost of getting that much rage is very very very high for a Soothsayer. Similar to using Metamorphic axel for +speed (or maybe leadership early on). |
Try the starting island, the separate island where the lighthouse is for the last orc army.
|
Yep I ended up finding it on that little island off the coast of the starting island. I had let that island slide because I wanted to go get the 1st Valkyrie then I forgot all about it. It was well worth doing Gudrida's quest just to get all the stuff I missed.
I did make the rage Valkyrie senior and it does appear to be better even as a soothsayer. The soothsayer is more like a battlemage in WotN I guess. |

The creator of King's Bounty (1990) also created a series called Heroes of Might and Magic and the Might and Magic rpg series. You ALWAYS want to cross train if you can easily do so because it would make you overpowered. :) The idea was to have a mix of Might... and Magic. :) A Viking with a lot of magic power is extremely deadly combined with his insane critical damage capabilities. A Soothsayer with a lot of leadership or rage is a force to be reckoned with. The game tries to make it hard for you to cross-train because it is inherently imbalanced -- precisely what you want! :) |
I knew the games were simliar but I didn't know that King's Bounty was created by the same people that created Might and Magic. It shouldn't suprise me though because they are my 2 favourite game franchises of all time. I remember that New World Computing created Might and Magic and they were bought by 3DO which was a disaster then Ubisoft picked up the piceces. But I thought KB was created by a Russian company?
I always prefered these games as a pure magic player and totally unbalanced towards magic. I found it fun and could beat single player M&M easily but not being balanced meant I didn't do so great against online might or balanced players. Dimension Door and Town Portal were incredible as a magic player though lol. |

After that they started to develop they own set version of M&M by killing the strategic part and that's was the new King's Bounty. Very limited success outside Russia but with low production cost it was worth developing for the russian market only; the english translation is not espensive and by selling it through Steam they still get some profit to compliment the russian market. |
