ATAG Server and Teamspeak
I have ventured into online flying on the ATAG server which was a great experience - I have to improve my flying though!!
There is an option to use Teamspeak3 on a dedicated server. I have a headset with Mic set up but when I tried to hook up with the server I had a timeout every time. Is there a "special" method or requirement that I don't know about? Could someone enlighten me? Thanks |
Hey Jack,
Not sure what is wrong on your side, but make sure your firewall isn't blocking the TS3 program and that you are using the correct IP. Add ATAG to your bookmarks by clicking "bookmarks" then "add bookmark" and enter the ATAG IP there as well as your chosen nick and click "apply". From then on it will be in your bookmarks and you can join right away. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16366755/teamspeak.jpg |
Thanks Warhound.
Oh! Now I feel pretty stupid! I don't have the software installed. Where can I download it? Edit: OK. Found the site and will download later. |

Oh God that made me laugh mate. Don't worry though, I've done many a silly thing myself, it can all seem rather confusing at first but is quite simple once you get into it. Welcome to online and TS mate...hope to see you in the skies at ATAG. Thanks again for the laugh though, made my day that did. |
Naz,
Your note made me smile too! Glad to cheer up someone on the other side of the world:grin: That's the power of the web! Watch this space for the next episode - I don't know how to use the software either! |
Bicker: Youre gonna fit right in with the ATAG server
None of us ever do goofy things ?????? |
+1 to that Knucks!
Biker - looking forward to seeing you online, hopefully very soon. When it comes to all things software I'm all thumbs. Luckily the guys help me out when they see me struggling. :) |
Got it working!
Joking aside, I managed to get TS working. Sat in the ready room for a while not knowing what to do. Then I actually spoke to a guy in the US who gave me some instruction - like go to the Allied section. Lo and behold I was talking to other pilots. Awesome!
Couldn't hear voices very well over the engine sound. Someone suggested turning the sound down in the Options menu. Bloody obvious really! Easy when you know how:rolleyes: Still slowly crawling up the steep learning curve. |
Good stuff mate. That's the beauty of ATAG, there are often plenty of good people only too willing to give a helping hand...even taking the time to run a new player through the cockpits etc.
I'd strongly recommend signing up to their forum if you haven't already and saying hello. There is often a lot of good info over there as well. cheers :) |
Biker
Two items you will now need 1. TS noitifier: shows on screen who is talking 2. Sound add on (cant remember the name) but when you or anyone presses their mike button, it drops the sound volume I'll send you links for both of these, this afternoon: (Not near my main computer at this time) |
Add Ons
Thanks Knuckles,
I tried to install TSNotifier using a tutorial on You Tube but when I launched CLOD it hung so I have obviously done something wrong. I don't actually need it because I have a separate screen on which I can see TS3 and who is speaking when their icon lights up next to the name. I would appreciate some assistance on the sound muting option though. |

Not just me then!!
Thanks guys.
It's always reassuring to know that others share the same problem. However, as you will notice if you look back to previous posts in this thread, I can be prone to periods of utter stupidity and therefore often believe that it must be a mistake that I have made! Even after carefully reading the instructions - it still goes wrong! Sod's Law I feel!;) |
I don't think it is you mate ... I have never been able to get TS Notifier to work either and it appears we are not alone!
In my case it would work when in the game menu screens but not when I actually entered the cockpit... Weird. I use the overlay that comes with TS3 itself... And I couldn't get that to work initially either  there is a handy thread in the team speak section on ATAG which has some pretty clear instructions and after following those I was able to get the default overlay to work in game... You might want to give that a crack. Having said that, if you have TS showing on another screen then it's probably moot anyway. I tried the sound reduction thingy in TS but didn't like it as the constant increase/decrease of game sounds just got annoying for my tastes. All I do instead is minimize the game prior to jumping in the cockpit and click on the little volume icon at the bottom of the screen and set the overall sound slider up higher but reduce the slider for Cliffs ... I eventually found a balance between the two where I can clearly hear people speaking and still get decent game volume as well. Works well enough. |

FYI sometimes these add ons are quite hard to get to work. I also have had major issues with the TS notifier, Mine is working now, but hasen't in the past
dont get frustrated just keep asking questions and using google  |
