why bother

Im wondering why this forum was started no info for months now that amounts to anything.
probly the other 1c forums are the same way.from what ive seen here in the last few weeks the moderator job is just throwing some guy who cares less and cant do anything anyway a bone.I keep reading how there to busy to give there fans a update.ill say it once more nobody is that busy they cant take ten mins to make a post here and dont bother with the they cant talk its top secret crap replys.a little small talk goes along ways im not asking for secrets that may comp anything.this forum shows just how the peaple your dealing with realy are.and its the same every where its all about money.so if your not going to update or let us know how things are going why bother just shut this forum down.end rant.

DKoor 05-27-2008 12:41 AM

We have around 2 months old news (latest ones).
Check the Oleg news sticky thread above.

brando 05-27-2008 01:34 AM

Maybe this kind of rant really doesn't warrant an answer. Maybe thinking positive is the answer, and just getting on flying the best prop-combat sim on the market is the way to keep sane.

BoB will happen along when it's right, and not 'cos people want to let loose a bunch of badmouth. You think it's all about money? Well sure. Why not? But nobody's broken my bank yet and I don't feel bored because I haven't got every goddam plane in the world flyable, or I haven't heard from Oleg & Co for a while.

I just got off flying with a bunch of mates, we've been flying coops all weekend and we've been all over the world having a whale of a time. And there you are with a mouth full of bile getting sick over something you can't have yet. Who's the loser in this equation?

Not me.

S!

Troll2k 05-27-2008 05:02 AM

Besides this is an IL2 forum not a BoB:SoW forum.

K_Freddie 05-27-2008 08:10 AM

We all know (have been told a gazillion times by Oleg) that he'll tell us when things are ready. In the meantime,

- mow the lawn
- drink a beer
- polish you favourite IL2 aircraft.
.....

Feuerfalke 05-27-2008 09:10 AM

Another case of "I read only what I want"

If you really read so much about BoB, the "busy-no time" replies and are following this forum for over several months, now, how could you have missed the that
- Oleg is not the one responsible for the lack of information
- this is not Olegs website, nor is it his playground
- nobody said this place was designed to post regular updates on BoB exclusively
- information will be released when UBIsoft decides to
- it's not only fans watching this forum, but also competitors from which we know at least 2 are planning to release a WW2-Sim parallel to Oleg
- nobody would like this game to be a success as much as Oleg and his staff, 1C and UBI
- nobody would like it more to post proud updates and screenies than the developers themselves

Take it easy. It's done when it's done and you will get updates when they are ready.

Mowed the Lawn, got a beer, and I did polish my Il2 plane (all of them actually, they're all "shiny" now) but I still want a SoW update. There are things (like it or not) to make Il2 interesting while you wait for SoW updates. I'm thinking (hoping) Oleg is in the home stretch for at least a beta and the next update might be a real one. Just me being optimistic though.

nearmiss 05-27-2008 10:20 PM

Why worry?

Afterall, this is the only boards I know of where Oleg ever puts up anything.

So... this is it, and it is what it is.

Check in every day or so, and blow it off if there is nothing new.

Oleg, will eventually get around to putting up something of interest.

;)

Don't be optimistic. Even thinking about updates like you do is considered a heretic behaviour here ;)

A: Because we're denizens.

Most of us also lost some of our sanity some time ago... (primarily, due to spending too much time with Il-2 and the Ubizoo)

So hilarious. And so true.

Tree_UK 05-28-2008 04:51 AM

I think some folk are getting a little excited because SOW is so overdue that they believe it must be only a few months away from release, and if so why no updates? Well there are no updates because SOW is a long way of completion so stop getting over excited, we have seen nothing yet from Oleg that even suggest that they have gone past the stage of 3D models. I'm betting on the end of 2009.

Stupid thread

Waste of time

I'd also be surprised if we will see a release in 2008. But then, I like this sort of positive surprises and I know SoW will be worth waiting for, so that's perfectly okay with me.

If the student is prosecuted for breaking a legal contract, you really got to pay him a LOT of money!

Heresy! Do you dare imply that Maddox Games/1C/Ubisoft should take the time to write a few rows to say all is fine or even post a SCREENSHOT? What is happening with this world? Spoiled customers demanding stuff everywhere! There is no other reason for the lack of information other than the french bureaucracy that all the updates have to pass through. Do you understand the time and costs for that? Do you? All is nice and dandy between 1C and Ubisoft by the way. All the posts that Oleg has done here in this forum has naturally been checked by Ubisoft and the current two month delay is due to a french farmer strike where cow manure was dumped at the Ubisoft office entrance by mistake (they thought it was the EU depatment of agriculture due to the size and hired goons with shades hanging around the lobby). Therefore the copywrighters can not get to work as a couple of thousand Ubisoft lawyers are still digging (punishment for the "you know which" mistake with a famous greedy aircraft manufacturer). How hard is that to understand? Even our posts are checked by Ubisoft. Wait - there is a man with a dark coat on the other side of the road that looks a bit french. Can they prove someway that some of the images on my computer may not be official Ubisoft images? Damn!

Seriously though. There is a micoscopic chance that Ubisoft will reveal something regarding SoW:BoB at the Ubidays 2008 event that is held today and tomorrow in Paris. They will present all the exiting titles they are working on there. Somehow (please, do call me pessimistic whiner), I don't want to bet any money on them saying a word about SoW:BoB.

EDIT:

From the Ubisoft press release about Ubidays 2008:

"Following the conference, uplay.com will go on to host videos from UbiDays, which ends on Thursday, and is expected to feature all Ubisoft's major products for 2008 - Brothers In Arms and Prince of Persia among them."

I'm hoping for that, too, but I fear we will have to wait for some official announcement on the E3 - hopefully this year.

Sorry if my sarcasm and irony wasn't clear enough. My post was directed at the people bashing posts like yours...

On the bright side, UBIsoft is pushing the integrated battlefield. UBIsoft announced that different titles currently being worked on, are compatible and can be played interactively. On the UBIdays, this technology was announced for the upcoming Tactical Game EndWar, the TacticShooter-Sequel to GhostRecon and the upcoming Action-Flightsim "H.A.W.X.".

It works much like Battlefield and Operation Flashpoint, but with different games, giving the opportunity to give each game more content than possible in a single game.

Anybody else feels reminded to Olegs statement that the physics-engine of SoW would make it possible to add realistic player-controlled groundunits?
Maybe the reason for the delay was bigger than we thought? ;) - just spreading some rumors, though.

Update: Seems somebody misunderstood a statement from UBI. They will be in the same "universe" with cross-references of units and tactics, but they won't be interactive it seems. Pitty.
