Skies of Valor has been updated to 4.11.1 m
Just to let all know that the Skies of Valor server has been updated to 4.11.1.
All maps in rotations are reworked to get benefits from the new features, like stationary spawns and new planes. With the switch the number of Pilots is almost doubled....thx Daidalos, this is effect of their work in this simulation... |
Thanks, Fenice! I'm curious to try it out - haven't seen much use of the new feature on public online places yet.

Good server with good people

6 DOF is widely recognized by the crowd as the best and more natural implementation at today (also compared to CLOD...sorry about that). The new FW190 is generally appreciated as better than before. I didn't gather comments about new USAAF FMs, until now. Sometimes the discussion in the forums miss the global response of the community. This is the general opinion I gathered, It is interesting because many who feared the transition having read the forums have totally changed idea. Maybe SOV is not the most hard core server, but it is representative of a wide community. Continue this way, your updates give oxigen to the game. ~S~ |
Great to hear it... haven't been on Skies for a bit due to time but also because it wasn't up to 4.11.1 spec. I'll have to jump on and take a look!

Thanks for the feedback, Fenice! Very appreciated!
However, I was initially refering to the latest feature, that are more for mission builders. |
I was widening the feedback a bit.
About mission building features a lot of people appreciate starting below camo tents or in the hangars (expecially camo tents). ~S~ |
So you found the new larger tents in the object list? :)

It would be nicer if admins of the server will set no external views and no padlock. These settings will make it the best server. :)

Also the spawn point view has solved a lot of problems. Now it's impossible to place objects above spawn points, no more need to test to avoid exploding planes at spawns. |

IL2 crowd has maturity now and is switching towards more challenging setting IMHO. Anyway there are a lot of full switch servers making their job very well. ~S~ |
Enabling No enemy views would be a BINGO!

One thing that limit the switch to those settings is the difficult to distinguish between enemy and friendly ground targets. It would be interesting to have the possibility to select different settings between air and ground targets (padlock for ground targets only). This is a bit off topic anyway :) better to put it on the wish list... |
I am enjoying the new missions, but would like some more ally bombing objective maps. I prefer to fly allies, but most of the bombing maps are for axis.
I also agree with previous comments about limiting external view. But all in all a great server. **Also how do I get the mission briefing to show, I can never see it? |
TY. More bombing missions are under rewriting this month.
The transition had some troubles with airstarts and bombers suffered from it. Really u do not see briefings ? In all maps or when ? bb |

Really strange...all maps have a briefing.
Do u have steam IL2 version or what ? ~S~ |

It seems that the Steam version is having problems like these.
I'll post in the FS forum, there should be a common solution. BB |

Common Steam problem... wish they would bother to fix it. Causes all sorts of problems online. |

Just received same answer on FS forum.
Code:
Missing Folders in the Steam version of IL-2 1946 (Article #628 Page 1) The server is undergoing test with no padlock enabled. BB |
Thanks Fenice for the reply. I can now see how much effort has been put into the mission briefings.
Also regarding the Padlock feature being turned off, I have only noticed positive comments in server chat about the change. |
TY
Yes, but there are some negative comments in the forums, mainly no Track IR users. Next week will be tested the reactions to "no enemy view" feature, with padlock enabled. ~S~ |
