Have the problems with DX9 been solved?

Dear All,
Just enquiring if I can download and use the new patch yet?
I have a 295 GTX graphics card which can cope with DX10 but I am running the XP64 OS, so will I still have problems??
regards,
Pike.

In fact, i think THAT is the main fix in this patch ... the dx9.

pstyle 07-05-2012 04:54 PM

yeah I think that was the purpose of the patch... but has anybody actually got DX9, who might benefit?

My graphics card supports DX10, but as I'm running Windows XP I would like the DX9.

I'm happy with Windows XP & at the moment my priority isn't in upgrading my operating system.

Are you running the latest beta? If you are, how is it running?

BH_woodstock 07-06-2012 01:07 PM

yes, please tell us the outcome of your windows xp and Dx9 experience.some of us here are very interested in how the game is running for you.also it would be good to let the devs know how it is for you.

I'm also on a DX9 (vista) rig.
I assumed the patch didn't included DX9 fixes seeing no info displayed...

But now that I read this, I'm gonna reinstall and look if it's got any better.
I've got no hopes on it to be playable (I've got a pretty bad comp...but I bought the collector edition anyway ), but I'm curious to see if perfs increased (I had something like 10FPS so that should be probable).

Time to get out of work!
I'll report when Ill be back

Damn you Steam Guard !
I tried to login to steam and it asks me for a code on a mail adress I'm not using anymore so it has been blocked by the provider.
And to reopen it I need to go to another adress I don't use for a long time...

Well, Steam support here I come ! See you in hell :-P

No. Your OS doesn't support DX10.

Time to upgrade.

grawl 07-06-2012 05:15 PM

Well, everything comes at the time YOU decide them to come :)

If anybody doesn't got the buck or envy or whatever to upgrade his machine it shouldnt be used as a mockery ;)

I personnaly prefer waiting for when the config that will make Clod run will be around 800-1000€ (screen comprized). Or something like it, you get the idea, right now I prefer spending a thousand euros in holidays or nice restaurants with the girlfriend :) Question of priorities in life i guess:rolleyes:

[edit]
How long do you reckon it usually takes for steam support to answer to an email modification request?
Just to know if it is worth waiting pressing F5 on the steam ticket.
Pressing F5 here hasn't bring any luck today :( I was fairly expecting the readme

S!

Grawl, but also saving up for a new OS like Windows 7 64-bit is not a big feat either. A gamer does not need the Ultimate version at all, Home Premium is more than enough for a casual game or even HC gamer. As you said it is about priorities as some might waste that money in a whim without remorse getting drunk in a bar, but an OS feels so terribly expensive ;) WinXP is not an option for me anymore after using W7 64-bit, so much less hassle and stuff.

grawl 07-06-2012 05:35 PM

I totally agree that Win 7 is a huge step forward compared to XP !
And an even bigger step forward compared to Vista (no it's not a mistake, I know what I'm talking 'bout :-P).

But Win 7 needs a somewhat powerful computer to make it run well, so sometimes it's not worth it to get only the OS, it will just be really slow.

Personnaly I'm fine with my old laptop, it does not run well any modern game, but I can play anything relatively smoothly when lowering graphics (1024*768 and all to the bottom). I never thought i could get Skyrim to run on it for exemple, but it does, and (relatively) good.

I think the right phraseology would be something like ''you COULD upgrade".
We should make a club of low-end machines users, I wonder how many we are?

mmmh gone a bit off the road here.

Does anyone tried CoD in DX9 mode? I would really enjoy this game, even if it has the lights/reflections, etc of Il2 46.

Buchon 07-06-2012 06:32 PM

Yes, its working :

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/456/5342wx.jpg

but with low resolution shadows (inherent to DX9 limitations) and the map textures are not in his full glory.

The performance is also worse than in DX10.

If anyone wish a try change Render=D3D10_0 to Render=D3D9_1 in your conf.ini

I decided not to download any of the beta patches in case it made things worse.

I'm just patiently waiting for the developers to sort out the problems & release the official patch to solve the problems.

Besides, with Windows 8 on the horizen, you'll probably be able to pick up a copy of Windows 7 relatively cheaply - but then again, will Cliffs of Dover work with Windows 8 or will it cause a whole new load of problems?

Then JGSME is your firend, you can switch between different mods/patches and your original files remain untouched.
