How are thing going for everyone game wise?
Bought on day one - I come back every few months to see if I can play. as of yet ...no. Nothing but stutters. weird neon colors on my plane. throttle backwards and tail controls fly all over. In short ..I was ripped off. Anyone have ideas?
|
ripped off? after the very first patch my game worked pretty good.
Neon colours often indicate the anti-epilepsy setting is turned 'on', this is still bugged and simply turning it off fixes the neon colours but be aware if you are an epileptic. Throttle affecting tail controls.......control mapping/assignment issue? Stutters are a problem affecting some people since day one and are one of the key targets for the major upcoming 'fix' |
Yeah....you need to display your system specs on your signature section of your profile so we can see if there's anything there we can help you with, that would be a good start.
See where I've got mine. |

Have you tried the last Beta patch?
|
I touched it twice since the last beta.
Now I'm almost convinced that most people that could have fixed this game are gone from the team. I don't expect anything good coming from this team. |
Its working pretty good for me on medium to high settings, i have been loving the Desatersoft campaign. Since the last patch fps have been great in most situations and flying around is great fun. I cant comment on online as my internet connection here in Alice Springs (Australia) is not up to the speeds needed for online gaming. Wish somone would do a reasonable dynamic campaign though with at least as much fidelity as the IL2 ones if not more.
My machine is not exactly top of the range but im more than happy with the fps, the game just needs a bit more content gameplay wise for the offliners. Specs: Core2 Duo @3.2Ghz, 8gb Ram, gtx 560ti, Win 7 64bit |
Im pretty fine with the game. I play it on ~high settings. Worse phenomens performancewise are clouds & "specialsFX".
To me, more important, it tooks me a lot of time to read all the threads concerning ammo-settings, making the AI "reasonable", having a zooming POV etc. This is done, so I get most fun by flying my homemade, historical uncorrect single missions. I'll be online some day, cheers! |
Write this game of..come back when sequel is out..
This big cock up of a game will be forgot about and were all be enjoying the sequel and possibly this version with a game code and engine that works.. Those that say they wont be here will..i can guarantee it (providing it works) This game is still in Alpha Stage..always has been and will continue to be for the foreseeable future... Even when the 'magic' patch is out....well, were wait and see  |

No they wont fix 'this' version of the game...The Sequel will fix this game and will be what this should of been 18months ago.. So I stand by what i said originally ;) |
I find myself going to the 1c il2 1946 forums more often than here these days.
Game wise i'm playing and enjoying HSFX 6. |
At this point this game is dead, it seems that the Dev's are floundering and pinning all hope on the sequel.
However, who will buy it with the lack of playability of CLoD, or more to the point, who will trust 1C to release a working game that won't require 18 months of promises? |

I still dabble with CloD but only because of the efforts of Heinkill and the Desastersoft add-on. I'd be long gone otherwise.
After the 'euphoria' of the beta patch I've reverted to the 'official' version and have to admit that the beta patch has brought more negative to the game than positive for me personally. So I've ditched it for now and would advise anyone who didn't have frame-rate/stutter problems pre beta to try reverting back to see how you get on. I personally am enjoying CloD more pre-beta. Don't get me wrong, I'm still patiently waiting to see a patch that will take CloD forward, I just don't think that the last beta was it. :-) |

The sequel is only a expansion for CoD, no working CoD ---> no sequel! Is that so hard to understand? As the wheel doesn't has to be developed anew, see point two, there will only small fixes and changes be needed in the future, the long developement delays were coming with a complete redevelopement of the engine. Hard to believe that someone frequenting this forum for so long is still spreading such misconceptions. |

Sorry, a just had to get that out. |
After the first two parches every graphics engine update involve removing and dumbing down features. I wouldn't call that improvement, specially since i kept loosing performance from beta to beta.
|
Can't complain about my frame rates, only the lack of smoothness (micro stutters) that I would like to see addressed. Guess those that want everything in cockpit controlable will always find something that they want fixed and some that play mainly online seem to be having some problems. My game play is only off line so I can't comment about online play. Just hope that the team get things sorted quickly to restore confidence back into the community, the longer it takes the further the downhill slide in confidence is for us.
|
Guys this argument about dumbing down is getting old and has been explained several times.
The core graphics engine was completely rewritten for the last beta patch which took several months of work. This necessitated removing some of the add-on effects temporarily until the core was running as fast and smoothly as possible and to allow them to more easily identify core bugs. The missing effects were never intentionally removed permanently, although as happens with development, some of them may not work to the satisfaction of the devs for quite some time. So you may not see them all again soon, but rest assured the bulk of them will find their way back into the game when the core graphics engine has been refined. (which is very close) And in closing.... if you guys cant discuss with some civility, then some of you will be getting infractions and the thread will be locked. LAST WARNING! |
I still play it every day for an hour or a little less but the enthusiast of the first IL2 is not there anymore.
I must also say I play nearly only the RAF side the nazi side does leave me with a strange taste. And for the moment the greatest problems are in the RAF planes. Now for the critics; great things are easy to criticize and COD is for the moment the top of the air combat simulation WW2 wise it is the topic of the game. The fact the team creators of that game do still try to correct the game is the right sign that is a prove of good will and honesty also of vision of a future full of new modules or games. Hope is life we all shall have a long life.:-P |
Haven't played COD in 2 months, waiting same as most for the holy grail of a patch to turn COD from a "limited online small engagement over the coast with bugs and dodgy graphics, using models that resemble aircraft from the era" to a "Battle of Britain Sim".

"Basically I am so bored with life all I do is come and moan everyday on these forums rather than pull my head out of the sand and go play another game as this one slowly matures.
Signed average cod moaner." I love coming onto these forums to read the above tripe. |
Back to topic: the games OK for me with normal hardware (Phenom X4 955 BE, GTX 460, 16 GB RAM) i mostly play the Desastersoft Addon and online @ KV13/ATAG.
So give it a try, Best, Allons! |

Aimed at me Krupi? another troll pop at someone posting a honest view of how they feel about the sim at this moment. Ive posted about 5 times in the last 2 months, happily playing other games thanks very much. Tripe? check the updates mate, you might want to think about "slowly matures". |

the game runs ok on my PC (not using the alpha patch ).
but i dont play it because: - not playing flightsims offline - have no fun ( at least not long) playing on dogfightervers - as mainly flying bombers, the programming of their systems is a lot lacking - not building missions anymore ( scriptsystem of the FMB is not my thing ), anyway no reasons with a suffering COOP system time will tell! |

5 times in the last 2 months? LOL... Perhaps you mean you've posted 5 times in the last two months that didnt fit Krupi's description lol.... |
So no good news really.
What a disapointment after 10 plus great years with IL2. I am down to buying one PC game a year maybe- and I take no more chances. So many games come along that look like they would be fun but I never buy because they are half baked and are released as a cash grab (t34 vs tiger as an example) I paid $32 for COD - I was cheated and robbed - you will never get my money again. Now I read you are making an add on- Battle for Moscow. Are they crazy? Is it free to all who bought COD? Would they consider completing this game first? Post my computer spec's - why? i have a $2000.00 Dell Studio XPS with a great video card - it should play ANY game that is released. So some yoyo in an office said "release it- we need the money -the fools will pay" and we did. but thats it for me! |

been playing DSC mustang . . . fun game but mustang vs mustang loses flavor quick . ..
also I love cannons. Cannons yum. Machine guns are so 1920's . . . oh wait you want to know about IL-2 series? No 1946 since I went to Win 7 . . . Ever since changing jobs, I don't have access to the mega server / beast PC that was the only PC I had access to that can handle CloD. |
It really is a beautiful game...I had to set down in a field and I was just admiring the games beauty. There was a tree near by and I was watching the leaves move in the wind. Then a gust of wind would come up and cause the limbs to sway. All the while my wingman was doing low pass flybys right over my head, with that engine cool sound. I wondered what Mr. AI was thinking, he sure was loyal....even in the state the game is in, there is no WW 2 game with better beauty.

*Edit* After looking up the Dell XPS I realized that it is a laptop. I am not sure you're going to be able to play really demanding games on a laptop. |
First- it's not a laptop that I have- it is a desktop computer. That said the point is I should not have to tweek it!!!! It should work. You have just become use to buying a piece of poo.
|
If your serious about this game you need a desktop with a recent high end video card.
I just checked and Dell XPS Desktop 8500 and Studio 9100 only have $100 video cards. Did you upgrade your video card? They are entry level $100 video cards. Im afraid you just dont have anywhere enough of good enough video card for this game unless you upgraded the default video card. |
Works reasonably well for me. I get the occaisional Launcher crash but I don't find CloD as bad as some say. Some frustrating aspects for sure but I enjoy what works well.

And don't forget, prebuilt computers come with weak power supply so you will probably just need to upgrade graphics card and power supply. Your looking at 200-300 dollar upgrade for your Dell bhunter.
|
I've just build a high end pc for a customer with a limit for the hardware of 2000 €.
MB Asus Rampage IV, i7 3820, 16 gb DDR3, GTX680, 3 x 1TB drives ( raid v) and a 750 W PS. All, except the PS, watercooled in a fanless watercooled Chieftek Tower from Innovatek. That baby runs CoD very well, actually its overkill for the state it is right now, plus it reaches 57°C max. under full load with NO NOISE except from the harddrives! |

I will try one last time - but i'm wasting time.
I have a desktop computer which plays many brand new high end games (my sons) just fine. The problem is not my computer.... it is this game. It is a half baked piece of poo. I should not have to do anything - it should work right? The community I knew over ten years ago that surrounded the IL2 game is gone. We are left with fan boys for a poop game. goodbye |
I stop by now and then, but summer offers more fun and sun than here..thankfully ;)

... your question ...
How are things going ... ?
It depends on what you like. If you want to enjoy a flightsim and if you want to fly and fight, I´d strongly recommend you "Rise of Flight". If you rather want to theorize for ages, I´d recommend this forum where you can read never flagging fanboy drivel about never coming patches and improvements time and time again, ... It´s all up to you, ... :-D |
S!
Only thing that makes me start CoD these days, occasionally, are the Desastersoft campaigns. Online is the same old air quake over certain spots etc. I parked the planes and wandered off to Chernarus for time being, shall see when CoD is flyable and worth playing :) |

Oh yes :) DayZ trumped all other "scripted pipe runs" just like that. Who wants to play against Advanced Idiocy aka AI in a pre-planned and canned mission when there are real people hunting you and/or zeds :D Zeds are quite well done, even they can hit thru walls etc. but you actually need to plan the route and distract them elsewhere, with empty cans for example, and then proceed to loot :) And you die = lose stuff :) Sure because it is Alpha there are loads of bugs and exploits and now increasingly hackers, but on a good server the game offers damn nice feeling and atmosphere sneaking around in hope of finding something usefull and some ammo for guns etc. Playing with friends teaming up is fun, avoiding bandits and other players, more a challenge to stay hidden than just go to certain places where you can expect a bullet snap in your head by a camping sniper with all the dingles :) So yes..DayZ for me. It has potential and even now with all the bugs and whatnot offers a lot in proper doses :) Name is the same as here but I play on Hardcore servers without tags or sights or 3rd person..TrackIR has been a handy thing there :) And using iron sights, trying to estimate range is mucho fun :) I likey! |

[QUOTE=robtek;438249 under full load with NO NOISE except from the harddrives![/QUOTE]
You did not put in at least one SSD? I have close to what you built with two gtx680's and two SSD's. Overkill with this game. The game runs worse under sli, more big stutters. When I have the game hooked up to 3x1680x1050 monitors in surround mode it atomatically goes into sli mode because I spread the load over the two cards. For some reason hooking three monitors to one card and a fourth 30inch 2560x1600 monitors to the second GPU just prevents me from having surround mode. I prefer the 3370x1680(bezel correction)resolution over the big 30 inch monitor but it's a bummer I have the stutters. Before I got my second gtx680 and 30 inch I ran all three of just one card and that ran fine, no stutters. For this game the extra gtx680 is not only overkill, it hobbles it actually because sli, though working, lowers temps but hardly any fps increase, is still porked. Runs RoF, DCS A10 and FSX just fine though so untill Il2CoD is patched up I'm done trying to fine tune it. When fixed I'll contemplate taking one 680 out if that's what keeps if from running perfect. The other two are better in sli but still very playable with just one GPU. What really surprised me is that when I have sli enabled over two cards the 30 inch monitor get's blacked out. Not a big deal in CloD but in FSX it's nice to have a fourth screen. The 3370x1680 surrounds are hooked up thru dvi-d and the 30 inch thru displayport. If anyone sees I'm overlooking something let me know. I'm running the latest Nvidia driver. |
