I sooo like this new producer/consumer relationship!!
Well the title says it all!
Im really glad with this open communication between the two and I REALLY hope this continues with respect towards each other from both sides!!! |
+1!!!
|
Yeah once the game runs well they will be no longer afraid to speak us!
|
Runs perfectly! No CTD's no fuss. Fantastic sim.
|
So much sarcasm. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
|
I actually think there was no sarcasm intended here dude, it was posted at the same time as the release of the mini fix ;)
|
Since the alpha patch I haven't had a single CTD and overall the performance has been excellent.
So, a big thank you to the devs from me! |
Nope honestly no sarcasm intended!!!
Funny how some people just see trolls in every thread:-? |
Just write 1+ if you agree, hopefully they will notice the thread!
So: 1+ |

Exactly the point of this thread! ;) |
Over all I never thought there was a lack of communication. We can't be privy to all the goings on in the development and they have made hundreds of posts giving us info when required. Although it was interesting reading all the conspiracy theories when the development went thru slow periods.
|
Once they render the Grass/Clouds/Trees like Blacksix said they would, then this game will be even better then just the no CTD. I am starting to enjoy it now after the Mini Hotfix, but when these things are done i'm sure I am going to have bags of fun flying this.

I have even been playing offline as well as messing around on dogfight servers. I am really looking forward to fixed trees and clouds (and grass apparently) they add a lot of life to the scenery. I'm feeling the love once more now I am not plagued by the 45 minute CTD |
Let's see...
My squad have all either not purchased CloD or uninstalled it, save for one or two of us... I still have CTDs. My frame rates are lower, overall. The planes I like to fly are not worth flying at this stage of "development". It's been over a year, and we are still in an Alpha state. I no longer have any faith that this sim will be finished to an acceptable level. Color me jaded. |
+1 to OP, loving the day by day communication. This alpha patch is very nice.
|
We have been here before..
|
+1 to OP and your right feathered we havent been here since the days of the original il2 its fantastic!
Continue the good work MG. |
Oh yes! One sparrow truly will make a summer this time. Mark my words, this time it will be different.
|
Whilst its nice to have a post every now and then by a community manager... the feedback and communication by the Develops is still by far the worst i have seen on a sim.
Why the developers don't actually contribute to their own forums at all is certainly baffling. Every other simulator forum i frequent will see developers answering questions and giving input. The lack of developer input is a significant reason for much frustration and ill feeling in this community.. i don't see the present situation as something to be celebrated.. but instead a tidy baby step towards what should have been going on for the last year. |
But as usual, a pessimist comes on here to chime in!
I'm loving the new CLOD hot fix has made it much better IMOP. Come on you Pessimist get on the band wagon and buy a new I7 CPU and get more ram this is the future. you old cranky system is just that old and cranky, can't handle the new engines. |

It could and should be better, people forget were almost at the stage we should have been at release, not 15 months after. Were still not quite there yet though.
While we should all be happy development looks like continuing along the series, BOB is still a long way off being the full BOB simulation it was advertized and hyped to be(we all know the reasons) I hope the patches keep coming though and before long we will be out of "alpha" soon with luck. |
+1
While I was never one to complain while the developers were doing things in the background that couldn't be helped by us, I do appreciate their inclusion now, when we forumites can lend a hand. Have to extend my +1 to the members here who are doing things in their own way to assure a quality sim. Now's the time for their efforts to shine, and I think they deserve a pat on the back too. Thanks community. |

I'm inclined to agree with Dutch and ElAurens. There is a pattern of behavior with luthier to bite off much more than he can chew and leave things incomplete. After a cursory stab at the eastern front and a smattering of aircraft types, they'll move on to something else. Rinse and repeat.
|
The market does not give any other choice really. Try to persuade Activision or EA that development of a WWII flightsim can be profitable.
This is the best team in the world that is ready to work on a WWII sim and we are lucky the project was not closed 1 year ago or this morning. After long and hard engine rewrite the things are just starting to turn to a bright side. B6 mentioned that they target more patches for CloD. Extra contents is to be done by the community of cause. No other choice. Quote:

I believe the OP meant to agree with constant communication, on an optimist note.
How did this thread get dragged into the usual whine fest? |
Carguy, I agree that communication is getting better.
I just have lost hope that this entire franchise will ever work. I'm not talking about just CloD. How can they move on to another theater when they are no closer, in reality, to having a stable game engine? It's just taking too long. The publisher will not continue to throw money at this project. It's just my opinion of course, but I don't see any other outcome. I'm not happy about it, nor am I gloating or glad, like some here are. |
The game is very very stable for me since the beta patch.
It still has rough edges sure but I am really enjoying it I just don't have the time ATM :( |

Sometimes I think that people do not have enough imagination to know that the biggest losers, day by day, are the 1C team working on CloD. BlackSix wrote that CloD is their lives and I don`t see anything false in that. When you depend on your work and you can`t get the results you wanted it is frustrating. A whole lot more than any of the appointed whiners on this forum. But they`re trying. If they make it, you`re going to finally get you moneys worth. What is wrong with supporting getting to have your moneys worth? If CloD fails, the whiners will have another topic to write about, maybe it will ruin their day. Some might even shoot somebody as losing 40$ (equal to a cheap dinner) poses so many woes to some on this forum. The 1C team will lose their jobs, money for a living. They have already lost 95% of Oleg Maddox` credibility. I don`t see how you could even think of comparing the two. |

Microsoft never released a disastrous software like CloD. They never let their clients wait for month for another experimental alpha version with limitations and full of bugs. Maybe Microsoft disabled comments on their website, but I know a company that simply deletes threads and ban the authors. With all respect, a new producer/consumer relationship is the minumum we can expect. Let's hope and pray that this was not just a single "warm saturday in May mood" ;) |

Maybe some threads have been deleted here for going against forum rules, but there is communication, however unsatisfactory to you, between the devs and the users. There is absolutely none for Flight and as far as I know none for FSX either. |
Flightsimulator X was for me in a even worse shape than CoD when i tried it the first time!!!
I couldn't even get a normal view then. |
what about microsoft combat flight simulator 3..... that was total pants
my self and other pals waited ages for that sim to come out after enjoying combat flight simulator 2, when it did come out....... well the rest is history long live the IL2 series |

DIY... if you think it's easy... it must be...
Are you going to whine that it cost $50 or whatever? about as much as some spend on burgers, beer and broads in a month hahaha! |
+1 I really appreciate the time and effort to let us know what's going on.
|
We'll see. One piece of pastry does not a pie make.
|
Actually there is nothing new here. This is just a continuation of a tradition laid down a long time ago by Oleg himself. He opened the Oleg ready room ORR in the forums . Unfortunately he was sort of driven out of there by the likes of the" Blitz Pigs" and other hooligans from "over there". Lets treat the kindness of the developers with respect and they will surely respond to us in the same way.
By the way I miss Oleg! Viking |

Water under the bridge now but..
Oh really! I was there. You remember why the "Pigs" exodus to the "perfect waste of space" or whatever it was called? The demands due to service given in testing of the software?
It was a shameful event that drove Oleg from ORR for good. By the way you keep a good record yourself of handling the truth in a Pigs way! Viking aka Mastermariner. |
jeeez guys stop it already!! This post was started by me with the intention of having the developers read this to see that the community like the increased communication we had lately...
Some guys really mess up the intention of this thread!!!! |
Ok
Posts will be removed and infractions given or remove them yourselves please. I don't need to spell it out who's done what either. . |
No problemo!
Im happy as child on X mas to have some info from the developers.
The rest is just history now. Viking |
Weekly update time please!
