Steps for Creating a Custom COD Application CrossFire Profile

I was having severe stutters and extremely low FPS with my crossfire setup. Creating a custom crossfire profile greatly improved this to the levels before the patch or even better!

I am using 12.4 drivers with the latest CAP

Steps for creating a custom crossfire profile using the Catalyst Control Center :

1. Open CCC, click on 3D Application Settings, and scroll down to the section called "AMD CrossFire Mode for 3D Applications". Select option: "Use AMD Pre-defined Profile".

2. Select LostPlanetDx10.exe application profile.

3. Scroll back up to the top of the Application Profiles section and click <<New Application>> and Save.

4. Find COD folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" and open Launcher.exe.

5. Done. (it would not hurt to reboot your system at this time.)

With this tweak I am seeing ~75% improvement in FPS and a significant reduction of stuttering!

See my blog for same same instructions with pictures:

Oddly I don't have AMD CrossfireX under the Gaming tab?

Try selecting "Advanced View" under preferences.

OMFG i love you 70-80 fps atm :D

I have advanced views selected, probably due to my dual chip card.

Congratulations! What is the fps increase compared to a single gpu enabled? Are there any stutters?

For me it was a ~75% increase! Stuttering was significantly reduced, but not eliminated.

With only pseudo full screen on (Dual Chip card) I had a fps of 30-40.

I don't have the time to do a full test but I still had a reduction in fps when going near large towns (obviously ;) ) and dogfights :(, when I have more time I will post more detailed results.

quick question please :) havent done this before. does it change the profile for all games i run or just the .exe file i save it under? everything else i have runs flawlessly and i dont want to mess those up just to get clod to run. but if it just changes it for clod i will try it.

Just for the .exe that you choose.

I have just done this and while I get smoother frame rates I get a lot of screen flicker and the land switches between a dark colour and the normal colour. Any ideas?

Did you reboot your system? Same happened to me, but reboot cleared it.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I rebooted and got the same. Is there a specific reason you have used the Lost Planet profile? Can I experiment with the others?

I have used Lost Planet because it was the only one that worked for me and provided the highest gains. Others resulted in either screen corruption or no gains. Let us know if you find something better.

I have tried the LostPlanet - Profile, but no effects for me. Using two HD5670 with catalyst 12.4 . Getting average fps of 35 and no stutters.

Are there other games out there which are using the same graphics engine?

Meusli 05-07-2012 10:46 PM

I used the Witcher 2 profile and that had a good enough for me affect. Everything on high apart from forest on medium and grass off with AA on 2 I achieved a 43fps average. This is on my rig that is 3 years old so I am very happy. It does jerk a bit but I put that down to forests being on.
