Dreaming about CloD surviving for 10 years...
So, now that IL2 4.11.1 is released more than years after version 1.0 and we can spend some time with that while waiting for the patch I realized what a dominant number one on my personal "best game ever list" that game is!
Just think if the Grail patch will fix CloD somewhat so they can start working on more content and earn some money - and get that SDK out on the market etc... So let's have some positive dreams about CloD in ten years instead of whine about the fact that the patch is not here yet... <dreammode> We have 200+ flyables in CloD and the game is as stable as IL2 is these days... Including all the ones we have in IL2 today but with all the four engine bombers too (c'mon we are dreaming right?) A bunch of large maps of territories around the world like: * The original and refined BoB map that is extended all the way to Berlin... * A number of russian maps - The north including the Baltics, Leningrad and Finland - Center from Poland to Moscow - South with the black sea to Stalingrad * Northern Africa with Malta etc * Italy for a late war scenario * A map with Northern Australia covering the "Slot", Rabaul etc... * A bunch of the more interesting Pacific islands... * Singapore * Burma * Civil war Spain * And more... Awesome dynamic single player campaigns with clever AI that can also be used for long running Co-op multiplayer... Dozens of multiplayer modes including: * A real ongoing war where you can act as both pilot, tanker or commander with a map that shows what is reported by recon flights and radar... * Some silly ones like "capture the field" like in Warbirds where you could drop paratroopers in a Ju-52 or DC-3 to capture a field after taking out the ground defences * Combined arms with 100+ ground vehicles and boats that can be used to capture enemy territory etc... Maybe focused on some choke points where tanks are spawned near the objectives in some smart way... * Air racing and aerobatics in a bunch of modern planes Updated graphics engine running DirectX 15 completely fluid... </dreammode> It's not impossible... :) |
I can never got back to IL2 FB... It feels terrible compared to CloDo.
|
10 years?? Holy cow! Just hearing that is like being handed a 10 year prison sentence from a judge. Racing though the mind a decade of reading this rubbish!! ARH!!
|
Man, imagine the whining....ten more years of this!? No thanks! They would have to get everything perfect, first time, every time!
Saying that, I'm simply enjoying imagining some of my favourite aircraft in the CloD engine. I think the FW190 would be absolutely fantastic, as energy management is absolutely vital, but useful when done well. Another of my favourites is already in there, in the form of the Wellie, but it's not flyable. Thanks for that 1c. I also cannot wait for the Western Desert campaigns. |
Mazex, I dream also that this may happen, but then i wake up and see this mess, my faith wanes by the day.
|
A P40 of either type, Hawk 81 or 87, modeled with the fidelity of this sim will be heaven for me, closely followed by a Ki-61.
|
Ki61-isnt that one of worst planes in the game(unless u znb very disciplined)?

I've never thought so. But I don't choose my favorites by how they perform in the game. Only gamers do that. And Luftwhiners. |

p40..my favorite plane of all time.i cannot wait to see the p40 cockpit in Dover. One of the most under estimated planes in il2. what was it that enabled IL2 series to become what it is today and survive all these years is a better question. That is what Cliffs of Dover deserves imo. |

I belive it will be exactly like IL2 in ten years, full featured and without serious competition.
|
In 10 years I hope for it to be finally unshackled from Steam and modded to the hilt.
Or only a distant memory. |

Hardware goes exponential while CloD is still a premature child with a great deal of nursing needed. Will 3D be a standard? Will Steam be around 10 years from now? What level of virtuality will be available at home? Will anybody care anymore about WWII wardirds simulation? In 10 years... I just hope to be around, having some evening great fun "mit kamaraden" flying online maybe a North Africa map or southern Europe. Sun, sand and sea. Algeria, Tunisia, Creta, Malta FWs, Bfs, MCs, Spits, Hurris, P40 an so many others. Taranto, Tobruck, Alamein... 1940-1943. The light managing competencies of CloD seem the most appropriated. Oh¡ how much I wish... Salutes. |
I dream of a truly dynamic campaign where taking out targets really has an impact on supply and availability. Where engine wear and building damage carries over to the next mission. Where damage to radar and communication systems hampers effective response.
Then there's dynamic weather with huge cloud formations that make you look like an insect and fog/low cloud that makes finding your base and landing a real challenge, possibly with the need to divert. Seeing a weather front rolling in would be incredible. What I'd also like to see with time are bigger maps allowing proper bombing missions to Germany - or some means of transitioning between maps mid-flight. Also a way of storing mission state mid-flight so you can return to it another day. I dream of 3rd parties giving us A2A style systems management too. That would be unbeatable. All in good time........ |
oh good... stutts you have defined my absolute dream

Also, Kindle has a free download of 'KittyHawk Pilot', thr story of James Edwards, who flew in 260sqn in the Desert. I've started reading it and it's great reading. |
RTotally agree!! We need an immersive sim (clod can potentially get one) and afterwards a good community base to plan events.
My dream for it: 100 people are joining an "advanced SEOW" like campaign, which lasts over several months. Addionally: If it really comes to drivable vehicles, then add another 100 persons for the ground operations. My absolute dream is the same, as oleg had: One engine to combine all aspects. Preferably, u have il2, red orchestra and tank sim included in 1 game on a big amount of servers, building a big european theatre (something like server clusters as u already have it in worldwar 2 online). This is, what all freaks dream about, I think. I will have to buy a monitor with uv light coming out of it, to avoid getting totally white skinned! :) |
I`m dreaming of taking the Me109G6, Me109K4, Zeke, and P51C for a spin.
In other areas I don`t want to. CloD proved 7 years to be a very short period if you want things such as a pilot career, dedicated 24h war servers and MMO environment. |
-DreamMode- Active...
Im dreaming of Fantasy 1000 Bomber raids on targets with fighter cover to match, splashes of AA scaring the sky left to right. The searchlights over the target trying to lock onto a heavy bomber as he is lit up my me 109 fire from his six. followed by the target getting obliterated as in a dresden firestorm and watching as the bombers head home victorious. |
For 200+ aircraft... Twenty new aircraft each year for ten years. A new one every two and a half weeks.

I don't choose aircraft as favortites because they are good in some silly video game, unlike most Lufties who fly the plane with biggest guns for easy kills online. Trust me, if US or British, or any other aircraft had all the big elephant guns like the Gemrman planes did, and the German planes only had six machine guns, about two thirds of those flying FW 190s and 109s now would be flying the planes with the big guns. |

If the IL2 ever did feature a realistic P40, then it was a great plane to fly. More durable than any 109 ever dreamed to be. Fast responding controls, great maneuverability, good overall performance on most operational altitudes. Enough for a Luftwhiner to appreciate, maybe not for a Ameriwhiner(I can`t seem to remember what was the official name though) who flames devs two years for a P51, engages in a T&B at 2000m and splashes to the ground as a result most of the time. Then he takes the Spitfeuer IX because he can`t really fly anything else. You would also show good faith to recall how much a lead P47 took before going down. Enough to make the single MG151/20 a shortcoming. Or maybe a B17/B26/B29 for that matter? P38 anyone? The only plane that ever required any effort to fly from a redwhiner was the P39, which still was a very agile aircraft. Everyone anticipates the real performance from the fifties this time. If CloD wants to be a better sim, this will be maybe the best weapon in the game, maybe close to the ShVak. Also, if you haven`t noticed yet, the elephant guns as you put it, have their weight. |
Dream about CloD?
Ok. A map from London to Berlin and a 1943-1945 dynamic campaign featuring the 8th Airforce against the Luftwaffe. I'd pay easily 100€ for that. And 10€ for each flyable aircraft. |
Eastern Front. Low-level tactical air support in a Hs 129. Or a Fw 190 F-3. Small-scale tactical operations in an interesting theater ... *sigh*

I am sure you know that the Focke Wulf is much more than that. As well as you know the P40 is more than a beautiful plane. Salutes SG1_Majo. |
That is again not true ElAurens. Not only german aircrafts had some big guns. A bf109 do not have elephant guns up to my view.
What about a p39 or a yak with cannons. They are quite bigger than bf109 G2 cannons, as far as i know. A FW 190 configured as interceptor sure had big guns. But a generally flown messerschmitt? I do not agree in elephant guns. |
I flew the p51-d20 for 2 years straight never getting out of the cockpit.I became the "stallmiester" a pretty damn good at it.I never boomed and zoomed in it.always Turn -n- burn..(its just the way i fly)ALL in ALL the p51 is a great performer. It just needs to be handled right.
|
I have enjoyed IL2 46 for many years. It was the best Sim ever for me until the last patch. From that point there was no going back for me. I glad a lot still have a great fun with it.
<Dreaming> Óne big map, with several fronts. Online servers running nonstop for weeks. Dynamic online campaines, moving fronts, 300 + payers online, R/R/R airbase and airplane. Sea and landbattles with air support involt. In other word, WW2 online. 100% exactly modelt airplane where ALL options are included in the CEM and counts as a facktor in those settings. |

The dream includes a splendid SDK that helps all the talented modders fulfill their dreams of bastard planes that never should have seen the light etc... And it includes MG getting enough money to have a full time guy that communicate with the modders of changes needed to get the ac and fm accepted into the official release patches that in my dream happens once every month... Edit: like the plane above :) /mazex |
10 years? Goodness me. I only hope I'm still able to grasp my joystick then.

I like flying German ground pounders a lot! Especially the FW190F and He-129  That was always good fun on WarBirds server.
It would be a blast to do it with this new engine! |

Kawasaki high speed development aircraft. Ki 78. And yes I know that the Kawasaki firm hired a designer from Heinkel that greatly influenced the design of the Ki 61. But that has nothing to do with my liking the aircraft. At least the designers at Kawasaki understood the future of combat aircraft better than did the command structures of the IJAAF and IJN. |
