Dear IL-2 fans,
On behalf of 1C:Maddox Games and Daidalos Team, we are pleased to present you the patch 4.11.1. We suggest you to take a close look at the engine temperature guide included in the download. As with the previous patches we would like to ask the IL-2 community members to please report any relevant issues or errors we did not catch through our beta testing process. Please use the existing 4.11 debugging threads for reporting any 4.11.1 related problems. 4.11.1 English/International version: www.jgzbv.de/downloads/Il2_411_1_INT.exe http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...etails&id=4212 http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/970...-international Torrent: http://102nd.servebeer.com/DT_downlo..._1_INT.torrent 4.11.1 Russian version: www.jgzbv.de/downloads/Il2_411_1_RU.exe http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...etails&id=4214 http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/970...4-11-1-russian Torrent: http://102nd.servebeer.com/DT_downlo...1_1_RU.torrent 4.11.1 Dedicated Server: www.jgzbv.de/downloads/Il2_411_1_DS.exe http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...etails&id=4213 http://www.atomicgamer.com/files/970...server-v4-11-1 Torrent: http://102nd.servebeer.com/DT_downlo...1_1_DS.torrent |

dive speed correction available??
Hi, this is a very long time problem hampering IL2 to become the most perfect one.
FW190, La, P47,P51,Spit..... all of them are of different diving speed accerlaration. I can not imagine my 190 was caught up by La during diving. Can this problem be fixed??? is it possible??? really a big defect |
We will look, will touch...
Thank you for work. |

A great patch. Thanks.
I am now re-educated on over-heatings problems and cures. |
On that note... Questions/guidance requested from the Team D boys.
The new temp guide specifics a few temps that I know are somewhat low, as I have several aircraft pilot manuals. The temp guide itself, towards the bottom where the list is, states that "figure represents maximum permitted [...] (Cylinder head temperature for radial engines)". I know for a fact the Wasp 2800-xx powered F4U-1's and F6F's have max. permitted cyl. head temps of 260 C as per the documentation. The game guide shows max temp as 230 C. So, I guess the questions are, is the code written such that engine damage immediately starts and continues to build up after the 230 limit is reached, or is there a "grace period" where one can attempt to bring the temps back down? Can we change this in a future patch revision? I can supply the references if needed. Thanks guys! |
230 is the maximum continuous limit. For in game workings, it is better to go with this lower limit. Below that limit, no damage occurs, you go higher, there'll immediately be a small chance for damage, higher, the higher the temperature gets. At 240 degrees, while there's no guarantee for it, you'll likely run out of fuel before the engine gets damaged. At 300, you might lose it any minute.
|
Not in the F6F. According to this manual scan, 260 is the max. op temp for normal continuous, no limit. The F4U-1 variants list 260 max temp for military power operation, says 30 min max duration. The P-47D manual does say 232 is max continuous, 260 allowable for max 5 min.
Edit - Bearcat manual also says 260 permissible for 1 hour, I know it's not in game though. Edit 2 - Looks like the two main differentiators are oil temp and MAP. In most of the cases, the settings between normal cont. and mil. power are minimal, but allow for higher MAP and max oil temp ranges. Oil temp makes the most sense to me, old WW2 era lube oil was pretty crappy and sludged up often, esp. under high temps. |

Looking at the F4U manuals: Max rich continuous: 2550RPM @ 44'' / 230°C cht and 85°C oil (you can use this settings in the sim and stay within limits easily pretty much forever) Max climbing (1 hour limit) - same setting as above, 2550RPM @ 44''(49.5'' depending on blower seting), temp limit is 260°C cht and 100°C oil, but it is possible to stay within game's limit. The game does not recognise continuous limit and temporary limit. The important point is that the performance is correct and it is possible to use these settings without overheating and fly her by the book. This can be considered as compromise but on the other hand, having continuos limit set at 260°C would be both wrong and unnecessary. The temperature in game will stay within limits at given settings anyway. Both combat and combat emergency ratings are limited to 5 minutes. Combat being at 2700RPM / 53'' and 260°C / 100°C. Depending on your initial temperature you would certainly overheat and damage your engine at full power. This is the game's limitation and as JtD says, it is indeed better this way. As for the actual temperature - I have not tested this yet but I'd guess you will have trouble with oil limit rather than CHT at the combat settings anyway. In the normal game situation, you can use full power for some amount of time, but soon you have to start thinking about cooling. Pretty much like the 5 minute limit (which was bound to temperatures as well as to MAP / RPM settings). (above figures from British manual 2351A,B,C and D) |
Thanks for the patch guys.
|
Thank you, guys, for your hard work and dedication!
|
Thanks guys for the hard work. Me and the squad is flying a great Crimean DCG coop campaign right now.
|
great work!thank you!

Thank you very much TD!

Thanks for the patch, great work, TD!
Just tested it out and managed to keep my Mustang from overheating even once in a tropical map. |
Lazy guy...
Hey folks, just a question...
It's probably pretty stupid but... Is this a standalone download, or do I need to download all the previous downloads first (and if so, from which version and on)? I'm sorry, but it's years since I last played IL-2 with the Daidalos mod (It's AWESOME!;)), and I just want to ask before I spend 2 hours downloading... In advance, thank you... gt_magnus |
You need Il-2 1946 and every patch in order. (4.07, 4.08. 4.09, 4.09 skins*, 4.10, 4.11, 4.11.1)
*optional |
Team Daidalos, you are a great and talented team! I appreciate your hard work to the fullest and I wish you all the best and that you will keep up that high quality work of yours to the end of all time! ;-)
Thank you very much for your effort! Regards |
A very hearty thanks!!!
 |
Many Thank's for this update!

Make sure you first have WinRar or 7Zip. |
Has anyone else noticed there might be a problem with sound attenuation? I did a quick 4v4 in the quick mission builder, and the gunfire from my wingmen a kilometer away sounds like it was right next to me. Same goes for their engines.

Behaviour of Gliders
I was able to set waypoints for gliders (G-11) so, that they landed in desired place in 4.11. Behaviour of gliders is fully different in 4.11.1 in the same mission. Now when trying to set waypoints for gliders I cannot avoid direction changes of gliders before landing. I have no idea what causes the changed behaviour of gliders. Is there any help or advice? Thanks for the patch, regards
|
Can you please post the mission? That would help understanding and tracing the problem.

Thank you for your reply. Here is the mission. Gliders land in places indicated as landing waypoints in 4.11. In 4.11.1 they change the direction before landing. This is related to gliders starting with delay in air, not to gliders towed at start of the mission by He 111 (because Ju 52 cannot tow gliders, which is a pity). Chosen time is according to daylight setting in 4.11. Result: in 4.11 a correct mission related to a historic event (Eben Emael, of course), in 4.11.1 a historically incorrect disaster for gliders. I tried to fix it by changing waypoints of gliders, but no chance to avoid direction changes of gliders before landing in 4.11.1.

Wasn't very windy was it ? that could have made em change course. will be interesting to see why this happened. ~S~ Sharkzz |
Very late to the party, just want to say thank you TD for your excellent work!

I had 4.11.1m installed in H:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\IL 2 Sturmovik 1946\. I then ran [REL] 4.11.1, and installed it to the same location. The version is displayed as 4.11.1m, the same as it was prior to installation of the patch. Have I installed the release version properly?

So, you did nothing wrong, it's just that you had the game already patched to the last version. |
