Symbols of Past Nations - Not Allowed.

Ive just been asked nicely by an admin to remove a hakenkreuz from my signiture. So Ive removed the whole thing. It is not an official rule of the forum, it is an "unwritten rule". Im not making this post to sound off or cause a fight, its just so others can remove their HK's, hammers and sickles etc as well... :( Even if it is for Historical accuracy.

Yeah, I think that the rule about the "Hakenkreuz" (on a historical aircraft combat simulator) not being able to be downloaded by someone from Germany is like a form of denial, and "over the top".

I imagine that's the same reason why they don't want you to display it in your sig pic thing, here.

A person who is engaged in discussions not related to history should not be allowed to have such symbols in his signature as they can bear no relation to history in the context of his posts and only suggest affiliation with the believes of the parties in question.

So reenactors of SS divisions are in fact Nazi's... Reenactors of Russian guard divisions are Communists...

So with that anyone who flies blue might be a nazi and anyone who chooses to show the HK on his aircraft is definatley a Nazi?

Even when such groups seek historical interest and carry a disclaimer:

Jeez guys. What is so difficult about it? Russia has a strict law against "nationalsocialist propaganda" which unfortunately fails to lay down what the state considers as such. So 1C is being careful and tries to give no room for accusations from that direction and doesn't want swastikas on its board. Okay, they pay the bills and they call the shots.

And as for the german prohibition of the swastika:

1.) It were the Allied Military Authorities who had this prohibition entered into west-german criminal law after the war.
2.) I have no desire to see the moronic grandkids of the Nazis march through german streets with that regalia again. If they did those complaining the loudest would probably be the same ones who propagate "freedom of speech über alles".
3.) Where historical documentations, books and teaching materials are concerned the use of the swastika is allowed. PC games are just that, games (or toys). Various german courts have ruled that this division is constitutional and will not be changed.

Least we forget history or we're doomed to repeat it.

And that's that.

If the site is hosted in Russia, they apparently have very strict laws with regard to WWII nazi symbology

The relevant excerpt[1] of the German criminal code reads:

§ 86 StGB Dissemination of Means of Propaganda of Unconstitutional Organizations

(1) Whoever domestically disseminates or produces, stocks, imports or exports or makes publicly accessible through data storage media for dissemination domestically or abroad, means of propaganda:

1. of a party which has been declared to be unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court or a party or organization, as to which it has been determined, no longer subject to appeal, that it is a substitute organization of such a party;

2. of an organization, which has been banned, no longer subject to appeal, because it is directed against the constitutional order or against the idea of international understanding, or as to which it has been determined, no longer subject to appeal, that it is a substitute organization of such a banned organization;

3. of a government, organization or institution outside of the territorial area of application of this law which is active in pursuing the objectives of one of the parties or organizations indicated in numbers 1 and 2; or

4. means of propaganda, the contents of which are intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization,

shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine.

(2) Means of propaganda within the meaning of subsection (1) shall only be those writings (Section 11 subsection (3)) the content of which is directed against the free, democratic constitutional order or the idea of international understanding.

(3) Subsection (1) shall not be applicable if the means of propaganda or the act serves to further civil enlightenment, to avert unconstitutional aims, to promote art or science, research or teaching, reporting about current historical events or similar purposes.

(4) If guilt is slight, the court may refrain from imposition of punishment pursuant to this provision.

§ 86a StGB Use of Symbols of Unconstitutional Organizations

(1) Whoever:

(1) Whoever:

1. domestically distributes or publicly uses, in a meeting or in writings (Section 11 subsection (3)) disseminated by him, symbols of one of the parties or organizations indicated in Section 86 subsection (1), nos. 1, 2 and 4; or

2. produces, stocks, imports or exports objects which depict or contain such symbols for distribution or use domestically or abroad, in the manner indicated in number 1,

shall be punished with imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine.

(2) Symbols, within the meaning of subsection (1), shall be, in particular, flags, insignia, uniforms, slogans and forms of greeting. Symbols which are so similar as to be mistaken for those named in sentence 1 shall be deemed to be equivalent thereto.

(3) Section 86 subsections (3) and (4), shall apply accordingly.
