Nice one Tavingon! That will run the game just fine, even in it's current state.

S!

Only thing I would upgrade later is the GPU, but otherwise looks like a very solid package :) Congrats!

How much did you spend and where did you get it from?, if you don't mind me asking. I am currently saving for a full rebuild within the next 2 months hopefully.

Call me daft but is that the graphics card? Was looking at more expensive cards but I was just a touch over budget and though the ati card would do for now.. can always splash out on a monster card next year :) I did look at the 6950 but on comparison sites it only seemed to have roughly 10percent performance (over 6870), so I wait for next generation

Cool, that is where I get my systems from usually and I can not fault them. I have a similar system in mind but I am waiting for the new z77 boards to be released to see how they fair, it's an awkward time at the moment with everything incoming.

Actually the boards are already available but they have little to offer with a Sandy Bridge CPU, just USB 3.0 support. Little to see wrt Z77 just yet.

HOWEVER ... when the Ivy Bridge CPU's finally come out (supposedly in about a month) the Z77's will suddenly be the flavor of the month (at least amongst those that can afford an Ivy Bridge processor) :D

So they are going to be expensive then, damn. Well at least they could drop the price of the older i5's.

Exactly, I have a "cheapo" Asrock H61-HVS motherboard, costs about 40-50€ and the cool thing is they've released a BIOS update for it that makes it Ivy Bridge CPU compatible. I've got a i3 cpu right now and it's absolutely awesome! but the time will come when you'll need at least 4 cores for gaming and then I'll just upgrade to a ivy bridge CPU which will be much cheaper in a year or so.

Its going to be interesting when the patch comes out. At the moment its reckoned that 1Gb isn't really enough but that could (?) change with the patch. Hope so as my GTX570 only has 1.28Gb.

BUT I'm not looking to restart that discussion here  Just a point to bear in mind.

Flanker35M 04-11-2012 03:42 PM

S!

If the devs have focused on performance issues then I guess, that the game should run better on lower end systems too :) And if recollecting all the tidbits from Luthier's posts you can see they had to do some quite extensive work there to fix what was broken or not optimized properly. So yes, let's see when patch is out how it goes! Keeping thumbs up!

PC arrived today, a massive treat.. been setting everything up.. CLOD is installing now via steam.. I can't bear the wait!

Proberbly a CTD... :-P

Tavingon 04-12-2012 02:15 PM

Well now its installed, played everything on max graphics, little stutters now and then over land but I'm not too impressed, something doesnt seem right :(

He111 04-12-2012 02:27 PM

I just bought a cheap 27" korean monitor for $370 - 2560 x 1440 @ 6ms - 60Hz. CLOD looks fanastic! My Emil has such a smoooooth skin.

what wrong with your computer? sounds impressive. I occassionally get stalls over buildings (usually air-o-drome hangers)

.

Look where your card sits on this hierarchy chart.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-7.html
Yours is fine but you musn't expect it to run on max settings. My GTX570 is a couple of tiers higher and I run with settings on:

High, customised to....
Building detail: very low
Forest: Off (very low is ok)
Buildings amount: low
Grass off

Anti-Epilepsy off
SSAO off

Try those, I think you'll be happy.
I get 40-60fps, I'm guessing you'll get 30-50

btw resolution is a big hitter as are the above things I have reduced. I run in 1680x1050. The 1900+ resolutions will hit it harder.

The patch should improve things for everybody :fingers crossed:

What's not looking right are the specs of your graphics card and the state of the game right now. I had a gtx570 and with running everything maxed out still had slowdowns and stutters at times. Now with a gtx680 it's maybe 10% faster but the stutters and slowdown remain the same. Keep your fingers crossed untill the new patch.

SKUD 04-13-2012 02:06 AM

Don't feel bad. I get stutters on my rig and can't run highest setting in combat
