finally got it to go

the final answer was windows 7, 64 bit. I have i3 cpu, 550 ti card, 4 gigs ram, asus mother board. I tried the game in XP, not so good, windows 7, just ok, but the 64 bit version on my second partition was the trick, game is quite good now.

I am equally shocked. But would like to welcome you to the new world of 64bit processing.

Question: What Laptop? (I also have an Asus-tis great!)
What FPS?

Maybe 64 bit allowed the use of the full 4 gigs of memory.

a good thing to add to a rig with low ram is a flash drive
when win sees it, choose the boost option
you are allowed up to 8 individual flash drives
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...res/readyboost

i have done this with a 16gb flash drive, i plan to add another soon
made big gain for my 4 gb ram rig

I have 8 GB RAM. It can be beneficial for my system or not?

Thanks! Sorry my english...

it will speed up you and anyone but the stick has to be 3x your ram size so 8x3 24gb..but read through the link to make sure

If you have a 64 bit OS, you should see clearly better performance with 8GB RAM than with 32 bit OS.

Not for a 32-bit game, you won't. It's arithmetic!
The best you get is an extra ~0.5GB (or maybe a bit more, possibly up to 1GB http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...=vs.85%29.aspx ) because Win64 will not need the that space reserved by Win32. Plus all the other processes are memory allocated under Win64, so don't count towards the 32 bit limit.
You're running under a Win32 emulator http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WoW64 , so the 32-bit limit is still there.

What if I have an external Hard Drive, will that work? I have Windows 7 64 bit with 4 gig of ram.

I dont think so, HD are slow, ram is fast ;)

Hopefully v2 is a better pilot, tbh he couldn't be any worse than his predecessor.... :P

Hi there, this is from a post Luthier did on performance.

E. NOTE: DirectX 9 offers slower performance and lower graphic fidelity. If your system meets Recommended system requirements, upgrading to a DX10-capable operating system will offer better performance boost in Cliffs of Dover than perhaps any hardware upgrade.

I remember that. Runs very well on 64bit windows 7 for me.

yes certainly if your os is on it
but u still need the flash drive
12gb or better

Verhängnis 03-13-2012 10:56 PM

But I read that 4gig usb is all that is required, and anything more than 4 gig would be uneeded because it can't be used?

VF101-jay 03-15-2012 02:54 AM

readyboost worked for me!

Thanks for this info, I had never heard of readyboost. I just tried this on my system using an 8 gig stick (Q6600 quad, 4gig ddr2, GTX280 oc with win 7 64) and I can now play online without noticable slowdown. I attacked a flight of 8 bombers at the same time as another hurricane, both of us in flack and I didn't get any slow down! Just last week in the same server (ATG) I got into a dogfight with a Stuka in the middle of flack and it turned into a slide show. I am very happy now! Makes me feel better about waiting until later this summer to build a new rig.

So would my laptop be able to run CoD assuming I used my 4 gig USB on Readyboost + the upcoming beta patch with graphics re-write to run CoD:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.111118-2330)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.2GHz (Overclock to 3.1Ghz)
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 4006MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Resolution: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Video Card: Nvidia GT 520MX @ 1Gb DDR3 (I don't think this is going to suffice sadly, it's the second weakest availible, and I can't change it...)

i used a 16gb and win 7 used all
of it right from the start
thats why im adding another
when one goes on sale
for under 20 bucks
I used SanDisk brand Cruzer 2.0

Here are some tips on what to look for when selecting a USB flash drive or flash memory card to use with ReadyBoost:
  • The minimum amount of available space recommended for ReadyBoost to effectively speed up your computer is 1 GB.
  • For best results, use a flash drive or flash memory card with available space of at least double the amount of memory (RAM) in your computer, and preferably four times as much memory. For example, if your computer has 1 GB of RAM and you plug in a 4 GB USB flash drive, set aside at least 2 GB on the flash drive to get the best performance gain from ReadyBoost, and preferably the entire 4 GB. How much memory you need depends on how you use your computer. Keeping a lot of programs open at once uses more memory.
  • Give ReadyBoost 2 GB to 4 GB of space for best results on most computers. You can reserve more than 4 GB of space for ReadyBoost on most flash drives and flash memory cards. (Storage devices formatted with the older FAT32 file system can't store more than 4 GB.) You can use a maximum of 32 GB of available space on any single removable storage device with ReadyBoost and up to 256 GB total per computer (by inserting up to eight USB flash drives or flash memory cards into the same computer).
  • To work with ReadyBoost, a USB flash drive must support USB 2.0 or higher. Your computer must have at least one free USB 2.0 port where you can plug in the flash drive. ReadyBoost works best if you plug the flash drive into a USB port directly on the computer, rather than into an external USB hub shared with other USB devices.
  • If you want to be sure a USB flash drive works with ReadyBoost, look for a note from the manufacturer that the flash drive is "Enhanced for ReadyBoost." Not all manufacturers list this on their packaging. If there is no mention of ReadyBoost compatibility, the flash drive still might work with ReadyBoost.
  • There are many different kinds of flash memory cards, such as CompactFlash and Secure Digital (SD) memory cards. Most memory cards work with ReadyBoost. Some SD memory cards don't work well with ReadyBoost due to issues with the SD card interface. ReadyBoost will display a warning message if you attempt to use one of these cards.
