yes, I have.

tater 04-03-2008 05:33 AM

Me too. Not surprisingly, the readme is as well done as the map.

Excellent work, guys! Absolutely stunning, you set the bar pretty damn high.

I find the link seems to stick at 1.38MB. "Save Target As" worked.

The info is good, but I thought this map would also cover the final soviet advance in 1945, which isn't in the readme. There must have been some further air action then, mustn't there?

JG52Uther 04-03-2008 01:45 PM

In firefox right click/save link as- worked.
Nice work!

Friendly_flyer 04-03-2008 07:11 PM

The Readme was an interesting reading, I look very much forward to the map!

Tbag 04-03-2008 10:11 PM

Outstanding work guys!

SlipBall 04-03-2008 10:17 PM

Very nice, thanks to all involved with the effort

The info from that time is rather limited; I read that in January 1945 even Lipfert itself was shortly stationed at Piestany airbase and they flew against Soviets and Romanians to Zvolen area (central Slovakia). One Jabo Fw 190 F-8 was shot down by Romanian Bf 109E (!) close to Zvolenska Slatina village.

Place of crash:

Pilot Hermann Heim:

In the north where Czechoslovak Corps were fighting, the aerial support from both sides was negligible.

Thank you for all of your hard work and extra efforts!

Slovakia Map - final readme

Thanks Indy 13,
This information on the 'Slovak National uprising' is just what I have been looking for. I am puting the 'finishing-touches' to my campaign 'Long nose Focke-Wulf Eastern Front' which should post on Mission 4 Today at the end of this month. The request for this campaign came from a very dedicated Czech IL2 fan and it has certainly given me a whole new perspective on WWII aerial history in this region.

My campaign uses the Rumanian, Lvov, Hungarian, Berlin and the 'fantastic Slovakian' maps.
Since working on the the Slovakian map I have come to really appreciate what this team managed to do - it has opened up a whole 'new-world' for the game and I am sure Oleg has benefited from the 'graphic advances' it has produced for his BOB Storm of War Simulation. (some of screen shots I have captured in Slovakia, while building the campaign, are absolutely fantastic)

I have also managed to 'get over' some of the map limitations you mention at the end of your information after much 'trial and error', including building a 'test airstrip' - that works, in a secret location on the map.

I have seen a Bessarabia readme too, but nothing new about the med. Is the meditteranean map still a go for 4.09 as well?

jurinko 04-07-2008 07:19 AM

Indy is co-author ;)

Indy_13 04-07-2008 07:56 AM

That´s right. Jurinko is main author and editor.

IceFire 04-07-2008 03:47 PM

Well then my thanks to both of you! This will be great for us mission builders especially!

This sounds an exciting campaign, but the title is a bit of a mouthfull. Why not just call it "Dora: Eastern Front", or "Dora Pilot: Eastern Front" ? That would sound a lot more memorable and economical to me.

Just my 2 cents.....

Golf Pro 04-11-2008 08:52 AM

Jurinko - I think the airbase at Zlin might benefit from being moved slightly to the East. I haven't been able to get any AI to take off from the south end without hitting that small hill.....

jurinko 04-11-2008 10:05 AM

Hi GP, this has been corrected in the final version - planes can take-off to the south only (as the landing T hints) and the hill is flattened.

Golf Pro 04-11-2008 05:30 PM

Nice one Jurinko!

Indy_13 04-26-2008 06:38 PM

Some text corrections done and added screenshots of airfields with respawn and taxiing points.

We also prepared two bonus PDF files: Industry and Sightseeing Guides. Hope this will help you to know country´s orientation and navigation points you are flying above and easier industry target selection for mission builders.
Note: Some few objects listed in Guides you will NOT find in current 4.09 beta version, as these were added during the last corrections and will be in final 4.09 release.

Files could be opened directly as PDF, but due to file size we recommend to use mouse right click and Save as ...

Slovakia Readme 7MB
Slovakia Industry Guide 6 MB
Slovakia Sightseeing Guide 22 MB

Thank you!

Impressive; in every way!

Thank you all who contributed. Such skill and knowledge that we obviously have in our ranks makes me extremely hopeful about the future of 3: d party Il-2 and the development of SoW.

Skarphol 01-09-2009 11:26 AM

I had a major mishap with my computer and had to reinstall everything.
I figured I could wait until 4.09 came out, but now I'm really starting to miss the Slovakiamap of 4.09b.

Does anyone know where I can download 4.09b now?

Tree_UK 01-09-2009 11:37 AM

Pardon my ignorance here guys, but does this mean that the official release of 4.09 is now imminent? Has this readme been produced by one of Olegs team?

Skarphol 01-09-2009 01:21 PM

Not that I am aware of.
I figured when I had to reinstall everything in november that "Hey! 4.09 can't be that far away? I'll skip the whole 4.09Beta and wait for the real 4.09 instead!"
But now I'm loosing my patience with 4.09, and I'm missing the excellent Slovakia map, so I guess I'll have to download 4.09b again. Hence my request about where I can get it.
