the gut feeling is that it's a fake, followed by a giggle at the fancy shorts

salmo 02-09-2012 08:08 AM

No, not a fake. See Adolf Hitler practising poses for his speeches - and relaxing in lederhosen

JG52Uther 02-09-2012 08:09 AM

I thought so too, but there are other pictures showing the same thing.

Strange how we laugh at what we perceive to be funny clothes, when at the time we probably consider them the height of fashion. '70's flares, '80's big shoulder pads etc etc. I remember them all unfortunately!

OMG, the picture where he smiles for the camera is somewhat creepy

as for lederhosen, they're still big in Germany, I wore them and boy were they cool! Second only to kilts!

Well personally I find this current fashion much more rediculous than lederhosen or kilts:

I never understood this 'gangsta' fashion.....how are they meant to run away from the police with their pants around their knees?

allegedly there are two main reasons for the trousers down look:

1) inmates are not allowed belts, so their trousers hang down. So it's like saying "I'm gangsta cos Ive done time in jail"

2) keeping your trousers halfway down your bottom is apparently a sign in jail for saying "I'm up for some backdoor fun"

bender gangstas, go figure..

well reason 1 doesn't apply with those fetching prison coveralls, leaving only reason 2 as valid, I saw a documentary clip once which left little doubt over it.

hmmm......thinking about it none of that makes sense.

This is like a bad case of builder's bum, but PC'd up and without having to break a sweat. Very 21st century.

Looks like the little mamas boy type who would always get the crap kicked out of him at daycare :P

Jatta Raso 02-09-2012 02:26 PM

maybe someone could start a thread about hanging trousers and everyone would start to post about hitler in lederhosen

Lederhosen are actually only popular with folkloregroups and during the "Oktoberfest". You don´t see them worn much in munich and even less in the "provinces".

speculum jockey 02-12-2012 02:53 AM

Hitler was a great man! He actually managed to do what nobody else could. . . he killed Hitler!

Maybe the reason is, that munich is full of " Breisn" .
Go on a summer sunday , in the "Oberland" area and you will see alot of people with lederhosn , btw. we call it " Kuarze" .

I wear mine quiet often when the temps are fine, at least regular after work in "Augustiner" (for non local munichs: Augustiner ->primary local beer brewerie & beer garden)

We got much more "Schwaben" & SPD voters than Prussians here!

FFCW_Urizen 02-12-2012 08:26 AM

yes, well, does Tölz count to the Oberland area or not ;) . Not for nothing did we call the dialect spoken in munich "Isarbairisch". It´s just going down the drain :D .
i still have 3 bottles of augustiner here, it´s just too good to be drunk.

Lol, are SPD voters a own german tribe ?

Well , in the village I am living it was said (about 10 years ago) , that even by daylight you have to click on the car lights when you drove through. "Schwarze Wähler" ( black voters = english : conservative voters)
Now many people have changed their minds.

As long as they collaborate with ex SED politians (die Linke/former communism laborship in DDR =Dark Germany today...the boys in the east of Germany), they are declared as an own tribe....LOL

Dont take it too serius, just a few pikes towards our "Ossis".:-P;)

What comes around goes around. The next period the reds will win again (SPD & whatever) and after the people got fed up again the blacks (CDU & whatever) will do it again.Old buisness in democratics imho.At the moment politics are made by the bank and stock exchange, means we are in need of one politican front to fight the threat of the temporary situation in Europe and not 5 different camps.
But the topic is too complex to write about in a diffferent than my mother language.
