Flying The FW 190 [Not a COD Video or Movie]

The picture of it at the end of the video is just beautiful.

Look at him! He can't stop smiling!
What a lucky guy!

Sorry, guys. But I just don't get it. After the first 30 seconds of watching the take-off (external camera), we see fourteen (14)straight minutes looking at a pilot's face??? He doesn't even provide any radio chatter or voice-over narration. :-?

I'm just not sure what the point/thrill of it is. Seems to me it would be more exciting watching paint dry or grass grow. Seriously, what am I missing here????

Well you are not 190 enthusiast like some of us (including me). Ash engined or not, it's one awesome bird.

Just for the record,I didn't intend to comeoff as sniping or critical....I just didn't 'get' the video. I actually am a Big Fan of FW190, and wish I could fly one of those real replicas. I wish the guy had a wingman taking external pics of him flying/maneuvering.

Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Thread moved to IL-2 general discussion.
Rationale: Nothing to do with "IL-2 Cliffs of Dover", nothing to do with Movies or Videos made from Cliffs of Dover game footage; nothing to do with COD flight sim acft types or real world BofB aircraft types...
Video clip will be of more interest at IL-2 forum.

Check out the videos for the Flying Heritage Collection's REAL restored FW190A5 and see how different it sounds:

Great find Richie, thanks for sharing!

You really see the tenstion in his face as he is completely focused during the takeoffs and flareouts. The noise in the cockpit is truly intimidating.

Jumoschwanz 02-09-2012 03:23 AM

I think the microphone or whatever they were using was overwhelmed and is distorting badly, and that makes it sound much more annoying than listening to a vehicle with open exhausts in real life.

With better sound equipment I am betting that the video would have an entire different effect on watchers and listeners.

Wow - that acceleration is what I should expect! Note the get-go from standstill at part throttle. Granted, the plane is light but I'm sure it's not using "max" power, either.

In 4.101 a buddy of mine and I had a drag race (0mph to 100mph) between an overloaded Speedy-Dee (1600 pounder and full fuel, cowl flaps open) and an empty (empty, 10% fuel, cowl flaps closed) 190A-8 and the Speedy-Dee won. LOL.

Mustang 02-14-2012 02:46 PM

I see in 10 minute, take off in 14 s over grass, Have a big acceleration for takeoff

It´s a Real FW 190???

K_Freddie 02-16-2012 10:14 PM

Obviously unloaded...
Come on.. can you be that dense

But then again.. I've seen unloaded P51s take a lonnnnngggg time to get up

Yeah I agree, Jumoschwanz. I couldn't get past the first few minutes. I find bad audio to be more distracting than bad video and as such will backtrack out of a video quickly. I appreciate the effort, and am glad the OP shared it, but the sound did me in.
