Hi Guys, sorry to ask a stupid question here. But I have never go online before and I have no idea how to join an game. And if I create a game my friend doesn't know how to join me either, can anyone share some light? Thanks a bunch.

Hello, If you look in your Il-2 folder you should see the PDF manual. It says Pacific Fighters but it still applies. Online info is in there and also in this thread http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...Off-The-Ground The formatting is a bit screwed up but it is still understandable. Also why not join a squad? most will offer lots of help and encouragement. http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.php/73-IL2-Squadrons
|
Thanks mate. Do you know how to regist my own squadron?
|
Hi, unless you know of quite a few people its probably worth joining a squad. Many people try but unless you can offer something unique (time zone or some specialist flying) you might find it hard to recruit. If you go ahead then you will need a name and website (for details of your squad, forum etc) Then you can register at Ubi http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...-Squadron-List or Mission4today. Good luck :)

Hi Flanker, joining a squad is a good idea, but not necessarily the best first step for getting online. To go online, read the end of the first post here: http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...Off-The-Ground, about downloading and connecting to Hyperlobby. Hyperlobby is a free tool that lists and lets you join most IL2 online servers. There is also X-Fire, between the two you should have access to nearly 100% of all public servers.
You will need to update to the latest patch of the game, 4.11+Hotfix. Some of the servers still run on the last patch, 4.101. Search for patching information in another help thread, and use this for switching between the two: http://www.thefoxbats.ch/forums/view...php?f=10&t=278 Once you're online, you can get your buddy to join you on whatever servers are available, instead of figuring out how to set up a server yourself. You can join an empty server if you want to fly just with your friend. I recommend my squad's (334th) server for that, as a lot of its maps have computer-controlled (AI) planes you can shoot at. Or you can join one of the more popular servers and fly with other players. Be ready to get shot down often though, online players are much better than AI. Have fun! |

It can be downloaded and installed from here. http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?n...&orderby=dateA If you want to host open port 21000 UDP You don't need to open ports as a client. Once HL is installed and you have created a callsign there's plenty of people around to help you further in HL. As for squadrons in IL2 you can regster your squad here at UBI > http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.php/73-IL2-Squadrons And /or Here at 1C Forums Cliffs of Dover / IL2 1946 > http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=25721 Have fun |
Hi, guys. Thanks you all so much for the information and suggestion. But actually, my real issue is how to actually connect to the server.
I notice you guys suggested me to download a server connecting software. But can you also teach me the basics as well? The multiplayer interface is so different than other games, we don't just get a list of hosted games when I press "refresh" botton. It ask me about IP port, which I have no idea what does that mean. Also what if I don't want to go to somebody else's server, I just want to teach my rookie friend how to fly, how can I host a game for him to connect? Thanks again, guys |
Every computer on the network has what is called an IP address, and to connect to that computer you also need a Port number...
Think of the computers being a row of houses along the street. - The street is the network connecting the houses. - Each house has a street number (The IP address) (eg: 10.45.89.239 or 103.1.59.100) - Each house has 2 (or more) doors, front and back, that you use to get into the house (The Port numbers) (anywhere from 1 -65536, there are a lot of reserved numbers)) So if you want to talk to the people (the game server) inside a house you must have a street address (IP), to go to.. and a door (Port) to knock on. The people inside, if they are expecting you, will open the door and you can go inside. If you knock on the wrong door (wrong port number), but right house, they won't answer. Very simple... The server format is 123.456.789.123:21000 123.456.789.123 -> the IP address 21000 -> the Port number (This is the default for IL2) : -> IP/Port seperator You just have to find the servers IP address and 'fill in the spaces'... Software like Hyperlobby Client (HL) does this automatically for you, and most game servers are linked to the HL server so you have to install HL client which then automatically takes you to the game server listing - Read the HL manual first. ;) |
Thanks guys. Anyone or any teams here who play the game online without using any other mod things like HSFX??

69 giap not giving you what you want??? DangerDogz fly 4.101 UP3 and 4.11 co-ops

Hello again, one of the Dogz (FoolTrottle) runs the UbiZoo co-ops using 4.11 on a Saturday night 7:30 ish UK time look in this thread for details http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...o-Coops/page14
I think that Giap use HSFX due to their fondness of SEOW. Maybe I can talk the Dogz into doing another with the Giap :) |
Thanks mate. And sorry to bother you like this, but one more question, how can I find out my IP address for my friend to play online game with me?
|
Read top this site: http://www.whatsmyip.org/
|
Or hit Start - Run - type cmd and in the window appeared type ipconfig and you'll see your IP

Then again, you need to make sure that your router (if you have one) opens up port 21000. See the documentation for your equipment on how to do that. |
Hi, guys. For some reason I can't connect. I did find my IP address from the http://www.whatsmyip.org/
But every time when I host a game, by friend will always get a "please wait" message. And everytime when he host, after a few seconds of "please wait", it will pop a message says :"attempt connection to remote computer fail, reason: time out". Please help!! We did put our address in like XXX.XXX.XX.X:21000 Do we need anything else? Do we need to change 21000? |

Use the link below and select your router, once you are on the next web page, click the top right corner " Click here to skip this advertisement... " . Select IL2 Forgotten Battles from the list of games and follow the instructions. http://portforward.com/english/route...outerindex.htm . |
Thanks for your patient help sir. But what is a router? There are a bunch of them, and since I have no idea what does it mean, I decided its better to ask you first before I do anything stupid that will make me regret later.

Meanwhile have a look at this to familiarize yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPqKgVn_JsU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyomNQnWTcE |
But sir, I don't use modem. I have a thing called "3 mobile broadband". Basically it is a USB, all I need to do is to plug into my computer and press "connect".
And everytime when I connect, I get a different IP address. |
This is your problem... you have a dynamic IP address, which means everytime you switch off your USB/wifi thingy.. the network reassigns the IP addresses.
This means you have to update everyone with your IP address if you're running a server. Joining a server should be no problem unless the network changes IP's at regular intervals. If running a server, this is where Hyperlobby works better as it always has (should have) your current IP. |

Eg: "win 7 firewall exceptions" = result > http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/w...ndows-Firewall Using Hyperlobby (back on page one of my post has the link info) you can host after opening port 21000udp . |
Hi guys, Hyperlobby. But it ask me for Call sign and passwords. Do you know where can I regist?
|
Just type anything you want! You don't need to register anywhere!
|

http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?n...showpage&pid=8 6. FIRST CONNECT Upon your first connection you must create a user account. Create you own account: Type your own callsign into the "CALLSIGN:" textbox **,*** Type your password into the "PASSWORD:" textbox **,*** Check the checkbox "REMEMBER" if you want to use the "automatic password remember" function. Press the "CONNECT" button. You may get game the location dialog (installation for some games cannot be detected automatically), which will be explained in the next part of the guide. Have look at the chat window. The server will ask you to confirm your password from the "PASSWORD:" textbox (enter it at the chat line). The server will then ask you to type your email (enter it at the chat, and make sure it is correct). ... enjoy your new account !!! There is a checkbox beside the "CALLSIGN:" textbox. If you check it, HL will connect automatically every time you run the HL application. The remember password checkbox is beside the "PASSWORD:" textbox. * When you get the chat message "Wrong password or invalid username", you are trying register using an already registered user account, which is not allowed. ** Do not use other user accounts gived to you by your friends or anyone else, otherwise you will get really bad problems. *** Passwords and callsigns are not case sensitive NB Hyperlobby is free software but relies on donations to keep it running, please do your best to donate. . |
Sorry, mate. I just went to that download link. I didn't know there is a manual to read. Sorry. Really didn't mean to trouble you like this. And thank you for your patiently help. Much appreciated.
