New set of DLLs, from March 13th 2008
Greetings!
Look for newest Core DLL`s from March 13th at page #4, post by KIA Feedback, such as tracks, conf.ini, screenshots is greatly appreciated!! Please post them here or submit to pf@1c.ru Note: Just in case keep previous version. Dont overwirte it, simply rename it with the date or something like that. |
Hmm... The last ones worked great for me (ATI). Will I be giving up any "eye candy" by using this new version?

The water is now purple. It turns a lighter purple near the horizon and the reefs/shallows are fully visible.
It is also two dimensional (no animations). |

You sent the ntrks for checking? What's that good for? With ntrks you can show them where you fly and how, but AFAIK those tracks are rendered locally, they can only see if they got any problems on their machines where and how you've flown, not how your machine renders the flight. :confused:

Can anyone check Crimea, 12:00 around 1500m alt, weather set to THUNDER, flying parallel to the coastline and banking the plane to the left/right to see if the foam coastline changes its color from almost white to pale light brown?

Anyone with ATI getting 1-3 seconds freezes with new DLL? And very unstable FPS?

I have issues on the simple desert map with the coast line and some ground textures during bad weather. I have a Pentium IV system with a 7800GT, drivers 169.28 (water=4). I didn't have these issues with the previous DLLs. Have track if you need to locate the exact spot but should be obvious.

@Stew - I checked on my other PC, which has X1800XT and cats 7.9 it runs fine... problems with IL2 started with 7.12s and up... :(

Ver.28022008 tests - ntrks
Reply to Feuerfalke - I have been sending in ntrks to CrazyIvan and IC since these problems came up. IC have my system specs and updated config files. Clearly the ntrks have shown problems with the earlier Dll's - flashing cloudy skys and take-off dust, strange ground mists under trees, lines appearing on the surface terrain, red flashes occuring in the normal terrain, white/blue flashes on aircraft skins. All these problems have clearly showed up on the earlier ntrks.
The new set of Dll's have solved just about all these problems on my system specs. (which are fairly similar to many others). Hope you can now understand why ntrks can help the IC team solve the problems. DFLion |

Crimea map:
1. The ocean texture instantly changes to black then bright blue then back to normal. 2. The cockpit disappears then reappears. 3. Screen lockups for at least ten seconds at a time happening frequently. Graphics card is a 7800gt using 169.21 drivers. I can't get a screeny as it happens too quickly |

Perhaps this is a miss-print. Water=2 for Nvidia cards has whitecaps disabled by default. Water=4 is the one that has the whitecaps. :( And with a quad core + 8800GT 640mb + 2gb ram I get 20% less frames plus dirty brown coastlines in the mid to long distance where I would normally see white sands. 15th feb. dll's were better methinks. |

This is not directly related to dlls (I tried also older versions) but when viewing steep mountains from shallow angle, they are shown not correctly: first flat and then the sharp shapes pop-up like on the attached screens.

until now I did not observe any glitches in game #, but when I open the console there is constantly printed a GL error warning 0x0502 range. il2 4.09b, ATI x1950xt 500 mb ram, cat 7.8 # except for the vertical smoke pile [?] shadow flashing over the water in fine weather and the flickering I get from the Me262 rocket racks when viewed from distance using antialising. But these have always been there since the release of 4.07. regards El_Marta |
The whitecaps are active with water=3 and water=4.
But I must say I do not see any major quality difference between the previous and last DLL's. Maybe the global seawater rendering feels better. The whitecaps effect is good in both cases and visual illusion from above is perfect. The last DLL's have better smoothed the costline. I agree that the brownish effect is visually disturbing on the sea coastline. This effect should stay to show the beach gently dips in the sea, but the colour should be less brownish and also much less saturated or less strong on the coast line. For rivers and swamps the colour is more acceptable but again less contrast is necessary. To be perfect there should be no effect were the beach abruptly dips deeply in the sea. I use mainly the Guadalcanal maps. Graphics are Nvidia GF 8800 Ultra (from Asus) with the 169.25 Drivers. Gold |

Is it possible to slow down the speed of the waves as they break on the shoreline, at present it takes approximately 4 seconds for the breaking waves to appear then head to shore and then disappear. This doesn't look natural at this speed, is it possible to change this to around 20 seconds in the dll, or is this a driver related issue? If it can be slowed down somewhat it may even give a fps boost. This is only a small small matter I know but I thought it is worth mentioning.

Yes, you can run these dlls with 4.08, but of course you won't benefit much from them and you CAN experience some additional glitches. I use the new dlls for my 4.08 with quite good results, though. |
I tried the new dll's with 408. Colors are ok, ran ok, but there were no coastline waves.

I haven't had a chance to fly with these yet to see if I have any image quality changes, but running TheBlackDeath with max in game settings plus those listed below, there was an ever so slight increase:

Tried to fly IL1946 today.. Drivers are the 1.6925 and I keep crashing ... first it was a BSOD thenthe game itself " Vista just gives lame IL2fb.exe has stopped...) I reinstalled IL21946 into C:\game\ubisoft\il2 Now game crashes to BSOD with DXGKRNL as a listed culprit... please help |

What ever you guys do, I hope you do not destroy the colorization and game play of 1946. As it is now, the sim is drop dead beautiful. No Banding, deep rich colors, and smooth.

Is it possible to have effect on water like it was on DLL’s from 9. February? With nice changes in water colorization and with feeling of water depth? This flat, uniform color water with these last DLL’s are ridiculous and real step backwards

No problems with unpacking the files. There should be 2 dlls and 1 ini file in there. Maybe you should try to download the file again?

I tried the new dlls, briefly.
Slovakia: Nice horizon, nice sea green color, nice cloud reflections. Smooth as silk. Islands: Water kind of seems to bright, still slight banding (acceptable) Custom setup (640x480) P4E 3.4 @ 3.51 Asus P4p800E deluxe (800fsb) dual Channel Corsair Micron 2336 2Gb Wd2500ks Sblive Hotas TIR 585PS ATI x1950Pro 256 AGP (7.11 Cats) HDTV 32" (1440x900) IL-2 setup not used (Custom Setup) Coastal Waves are back. Seems alright to me. Gf 4.08M appears on start up. Not 409... Somehow I used the wrong Files.sfs file. After swapping (409b1m), same results as listed above. |

These new dll's (13-03-08 ) seem to reintroduce the extreme aliasing of the coastline textures.
I have added two screens from the Black Death ntrk to compare with the 27-02-08 dll's. This is on a 8800 GT Antialiasing 4x Ansiostropic Aplication pref. Il2Setup as per KYA's advice. |

Ive lost perfect...i have Nvidia 8600 GT..........ive swapped dll's them back but i cant get perfect....any ideas whats gone on.....?pls help!....god i h8 computers!!!i think i stuffed it up by messing with the GFX settings cus i wasnt happy with them....what do i need to do 2 get perfect back..ie anisotropic etc.....gawd i h8 computers! :(...why do i mess!!

These dlls work great, IMO. I had a consistent micro stutter with the last set. These seem very smooth. Visually these look as good as the previous set with no obvious anomalies. 8800GTX 640meg running 169.21 drivers.

Best result Ive seen so far, will be interesting hosting our squad coops tomorrow night to see how online play is. Did get one strange shadow just as we hit the IP in G11/12 on the Slovakia map though...Look forward to the final version of the Slovakia map, what a work of art! Guys, screenshots are nice, but they dont give enough info... if you could record small ntrk file while issue occurs, add your conf.ini, driver version, brief hardware description... that would really help. It is impossible to conclude anything based on screenshots.. either add files right to this thread or e-mail them to pf@1c.ru That would be great! Thanks!

Well, I certainly appreciate all the effort put in supporting my favorite game of all time, but there are still a few oddities.
I have core duo, x1600 ATI 256 meg, all settings on perfect, openGL Questions: Since the setup is tweaked for new cards, why not update the common video modes? I end up at the default mode since it still doesn't support 1680x1050 or 1900x1200 - thus never bother with il2 setup. Here's what I observed: If I use the new stuff with il2setup instead of my custom settings, the defaults look horrible If I use the new stuff with il2setup and pick max settings, it looks the same - horrible If I use the new dlls and files, but put back my tweaked Config.ini, all seems well again, except the water has less white caps and is less pleasing to the eye. Did the bump map for water go down? Doesn't look as cool as before. Other than that, seems to work fine. Since I don't actually have any "issues", just preferences, I just included screen shots for reference. Actually the first 4.09 beta dlls worked just fine for me, and some in the middle had the best water and performance (I wish I remembered which ones!). Here's my config.ini.. If you release an open beta and follow that with a bunch of other beta files every other day while at the same time expecting people who know nothing at all about computers, archives, files, game structure etc etc. etc. to submit detailed bug reports (and those people are included because of the open beta idea I think), you would do better to release any newer beta with it's own installer. This installer should make a backup of files that get replaced and an easy way for people to switch back. It should also check the integrity of the download. It would be nice if the installer had a report feature collecting the needed system data and integrating it into a bug report. That would give a standard which would be easier to handle for the dev. team. Doing otherwise is inviting disaster imho. Just an observation. I do appreciate all the work going into this. |
I agree with MaX. It would be more work for the dev team, but they would probably get a lot more feedback.
One more thing I've noticed with all these new dll's. None of them seem to work well for everyone. Most likely, it is near impossible to get one set that works perfectly with all the different hardware and software combinations there are amongst the IL-2 community. Personally, I keep copies of all the dll's and, if technically possible, I'll just use the set that works best on my computer. Aviar |
I've got a decent rig AMD XP2800+ Nvidia 7600GS 512mb 1.5 Gb Ram.
I have tried the last 2 Dll's and it just gets better each time. I'm not running the 4.09beta and not sure what if any effect the new config file did for me but I'm seeing the best framerates I have ever had. If Oleg and Co are trying to tie up loose ends so that this sim still has life after SOW than he's definately going above and beyond, Good Work Mates! |
You guys can agree or disagree... i am delivery boy... And please, don`t underestimate this community. Almost Everyone here knows, what conf.ini is and how to take screeshots or record ntrk file. Nobody is asking for detailed bug reports, etc. Three simple things, that`s all. Unless you are questioning peoples ability to sent e-mail with those 3 items too. I am kind of confused with such reaction...but oh well, nothing new.
@Spinetti - one for all ntrk files will not work in this scenario. Then more areas covered by testing, then better. Set of ntrk files, maybe... one will not do the justice with all sets of different hardware out there, different drivers, OS`s etc. |

Hmm testing some new coop missions tonight and a number of different graphical errors showed up, I will try to put something together and send it off to 1C.
Ill try max setting as well and see if that clears it up. Don't get me wrong it looks awesome, just every now and then heaps of the panels disappear off a shot up plane, or sides of buildings disappear as you drive close to them, had an interesting effect on reflection on a lake as well like an inverted mirror image? And the funny mountain 'shadows'. Will email off a detailed report sometime this week. |

I'm getting white-patch flashes on the land texture to the left of the sun when scrolling in from behind on external view. It seems to only happen once or twice, the weather was set to raining and the time was 1900hrs. I've not noticed it yet on other weather settings.

I have installed the new dlls from March 13th and noted an issue when flying the Yak-3: missing textures. I could not see landing gear and wheel cover plates, and some parts of the canopy were missing as well. After I reverted to the dlls of Feb. 17th, the Yak-3 was normal and got back its features.
Anybody noticed such a problem with the Yak-3 and the new dlls? (external view). I use a nvidia 7800GS AGP card. |

I had black ground with ati 1950pro( with catalyst 8.1, 8.2 and 7.11).
Somebody at spitvs109 told that turning off Catalyst AI would help and it did(atleast with these cat 7.11 i'm using now). |
Wow...
I upgraded to PCI-E video last week. Dowloaded Cat 8.3s took a significant FPS hit AND now get strange flashing thingies when plane is shot at from behind. I saw it during TBD. I'll try and take a screenie when I get home today.

Vtreult ref the Yak 3 graphic issue you are seeing.
I have a 7900Gs running 98.89 drivers with the new Dlls. I see no issues with the Yak 3 at all. |
I'm using a new 3870 ATI Ufuru, one of the latest and greatest. I think it's the Cat's personally. You could tell my exactly what and how to use these latest DLLs, though. I guess I just rename and replace. Do I just add the new setup.ini to the old one or replace it all together?

i just put the dll's and ini on my 4.08 and the water to land blockiness is gone :)
also the flashing textures when i move around the cockpit, overall the best set of dll's to date for me :) using xp 32 bit 174.70 drivers (guru3d) |

169.13 .. Atlon X2 64000@3.40 Ghz with 8800 GT 640.... on my point of wiew, best DLL's.... everithing more clear and sharp... water (4 ) better...
