New Rig; I can fly now!
And how? From an Dual Core 2.66Mhz processor with an GTX9800+ videocard impossible to fly normally over the countryside, to a i7 2600K with a GTX590 I fly without a problem at very high settings. From zero to the max!
Now I finally can start flying COD.. First I heard COD isn't supporting SLI but with the new patch it's working with the GTX590. I even tried out my 3D Vision and it's cool to sit in a 3D cockpit! Only the landscape isn't rendered in 3D and looks kinda flat in comparison. That you don't notice in 2D but it would be complete if it had 3D depth too. Now it's time to replace my aging Saitek X-45 HOTAS for a Logitech G940 that fits my Playseat. In fact the X-45 fits more to prop-planes but the G940 is a nice allround for props and jets. Update: do they have tracers yet? I want tracers and a choice to have historical decalls on/off in the game. A realtime Campaign would be nice too, although russian developers are not wellknown for campaign designing like Wings of Victory or Falcon. |
sounds cool to me bro

Have you checked with Nvidia inspector and can you see any activity from the second GPU? If it shows activity on the second GPU that would be great news. I know how you feel. I went from a duocore 6600 and an 8800gts to a i2500k and gtx570 about four weeks ago. World of difference. By the way, what kind of monitor do you have? |
Excellent now if I can just find 1000 pounds sterling somewhere I can play COD ....

Nvidia Inspector tells me that SLI is not working in my GTX590. :(

Have just cheerfully plonked down $398 + tax CAD ordering a Warthog HOTAS through Amazon.ca (free shipping though). Combined with the original cost of the PC, upgrades, peripherals, etc etc........I always chuckle when someone bemoans the $50 (or much less) price tag for CoD itself. If I could get even 1 cent on the dollar for what I paid on the Mt Everest of old flight sims, junked PC's, monitors, garbaged peripherals, etc etc.......I'd be a rich man! LOL |

My kids have between them over £1800 in video games from last years releases Wii, PS3, Xbox and PC titles, none of which have entertained them for more than a few weeks at a time due to rubbish content or publishers releasing poor software. I did the games count up as they want to trade them in. They don't get the fact I have been flying IL2 1946 £29.99 for over 10 years :) |

It is a real hit and miss with that stick! More, many more, bad reviews that good! Logitech G940 Software Update - Official notice The following is a link to the latest firmware update.. Note it is a YEAR OLD and does not fix the R1 R2 spikes or rudder reversal problems G940 firmware 1.42 is now available Also know that the stick itself is good to go.. It is the throttle and rudders that are the problem! I allready got rid of the rudders and repalced them with Saiteks new combat rudders.. I am currently looking at a throttle replacment |
SLI don't work
|
I have to agree with Ace: Be aware that the G940 is bugged with the "Reversal Bug" and prone to broken wires in the throttle levers.
Before you invest, do make a forum search for G940 AND "Reversal Bug" and G940 AND Spikes, or at least read the thread Logitech G940...is this a good investment? and the op in the thread G940 MODDING (Warning large pictures) I bought one, swore a lot and waited (for Logitech) in vain, finally modded it (like MasterTec did) and now I do really like it. I just received the Logitech G940 stick, connected it and tested it for quick fly with CoD; first it fits my Playseat and next it flies and trims much better then the X45 I had before. I can even configure the pedals for right and left wheelbrakes. The Force Feedback is loose when you make precise corrections and kicks in when you make hard manouvers.
First impressions, I haven't met any problems yet and it feels great. I read the forum about the G940 and it seemed like a 50/50: one wasn't and the other was very satisfied with it. For now I can say I'm very happy with it too.. Sorry about the SLI; I read on the forum it was working and assumed with my GTX590 and everything on very high detail flying without a problem SLÍ was working again. Too bad to read now it isn't... I guess very high detail is possible with only one card working on a GTX590 but it should be great when SLI is available. |
3D huh.... Everyone will be cross eyed in a year

So hang on to your recipet! They do have a return policy! I forget how long it is? Some have returned thier sticks 2 and 3 times before they got one that seem to not fall apart within the first few weeks of usage. Good luck! |
3D Monitor
I forgot to mention I have an Acer GN245HQ 3D monitor for 3D Vision.
3D Vision works with CoD and the cockpit is nice in 3D but the landscape shows less depth and seems rather flat as a palette in the background. Concerning the G940, I'm still happy with my purchase and hope this "newer" version doesn't have any rotary spikes. Do you need the firmware 1.42 for it to install with Gaming Software 5.10? |
Be advised that, concerning the G940, when you demand a replacement before you send your faulty stick back, sometimes you don't have to return the faulty stick at all.
That worked for me 2 times in Germany. :D |
Oh no!
I installed that Firmware 1.42 and went flying again, but this time the Force Feedback responded awfully with heavy shaking and no loose zone for fine corrections. I did no changes to FF level and I find it controlling terrible after installing that Firmware. What happened and is this normal?

Update
Did you update to that Firmware 1.42 too? At first I liked mine very much out of the box but when I installed that Firmware the FF was totally messed up; violent kicking and too strong in the neutral zone.
Did you have that too or did the FF improve if you installed Firmware 1.42 too? Maybe it's better not to use that Firmware and leave it as it is.. |
