New Graphics Engine - Timeline
'We are in final stages of testing a thorough overhaul of the game’s graphic engine.'
'We will go through the same general process as before: internal testing first, then open external testing, and then finally the release.' So, does this mean that we can expect an open beta of the new engine soon? |
My magic 8 ball says the beta is four to six weeks out.:)

Raaids magical crack pipe told him that the new beta will appear briefly on pancake tuesday then collapse into a supermassive black hole, dragging the whole universe into it like a celestial whirlpool. Then Oleg in the form of pure energy will emerge from it firing frikkin lazers from his eyes, and proclaiming himself to be the Quantum Son of Muadmarr Gadaffi.....from the future. Olegs cry of 'Ilya still owes me 10 rubles' will then echo throughout all eternity.
You just watch and see if I'm wrong. |

Another lets guess the time frame thread. Brilliant

It's something I'd appreciate an approximate answer from the Developers on, in conjunction with Krupi's request for info. It seems to me that this has to come before the 'Battle of Moscow', as that game presumably would be released with the same game engine. And in spite of the low level of official communiques, this ought to be the best place the question can be asked.:-P |
Considering the obstacles that have been overcome and the objectives to be accomplished? I'm hanging with the "Easter Bunny" time line....
There is patience and there is foolishness....after six months? It's a toss.... |
lol.. it will be done when its done chaps. The thing with timelines, (if you can get a development team to give you one).. is that people will immediately jump aboard the devs if they haven't kept rigidly to it.
Looking at how volatile the atmosphere gets in here sometimes, I can't believe any of the dev team would want to give us any kind of timeline.. it also creates more pressure for them to try and keep to one. |
Tomorrow of course it's friday
|
.. err with all the bugs and changes needed elsewhere, is a new graphics engine priority? i'm very happy with current graphics .. but if it's going to be improved to picture-perfect, i'll not complain.

I doubt you (or Krupi, or us!) will get an official answer anytime soon. Looking at his recent posting history, Luthier seems to post patch info when a patch is released, then disappear until its time for the next patch. He doesn't hang around, and actually makes Olegs communications with the community look good!
The community manager takes care of communications between us and the developers. Oh wait... |
I'm with Dutch on this one, it's about time we had some decent and truthfull information from the developers. Even small bits of information as to how things are progressing is better than nothing at all for weeks. If they are having trouble getting features working with the new graphics engine at least say so, some of the things that were going to be working at release and ended up broken still haven't had anything done. Let them get the graphics engine working properly before anything else.
Cheers Rick |
It doesn't really matter if there's any communication or not. 1C will be crucified in one way, shape, form or method whatever they do. If they say they're working on the graphics-engine, people will rail about the cockpit colors. If they say they're working on the colors, people will go on and on and on about the AI.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't. |

"It’s too early to say what the FPS increase will be in the final version, but it shouldn’t be less than 50%."
A fifty percent or GREATER increase in FPS???? Call me a cynic, but it looks like overclaiming is a big part of this Battle of Britain too! |
I think 50% more is possible!
I just read a post made in a german forum where a guy from Desastersoft(they are making expansion for CloD and are kind of developers - they know what they are talking about) said that he has stutters because only 20% of his GPU is used. So the Graphic-Engine still ist the problem. If they can programm an engine which is more efficient, why shouldn´t it be possible? I als think that I remember Luthier writing something like that in the Sukhoi forums earlier... |
