Is "Gutted" the best shot in IL2? (109 legend movie)
He is the one that made the movie "Messerschmitt bf109 the legend" there are some amazing shots in there.
What's the story on him? does he still play il2 anyone know? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G60fP...eature=related |
Dunno might be wrong but i heard on HL that hes making gay porn these dayz!
|
Yep, the difference between online and offline dogfighting

I think he means that some of the deflection shots you see are easy offline because you can play with the cockpit view off, get your kills, and then replay the track switching the cockpit back on.
Online, no choice, you have to make the defelction shot by instinct, not with a Wonderwoman (glass plane) view, as the Cockpit (on non arcade servers) is locked on. Offline, easy kills, online...skill will always prevail over luck. |
Okay i understand. I read somewhere that he swore it was done with cockpit on though. However on simhq someone brought up that it might have been on 100% realism as the gunsight is very still, no bounce.

if you look closely, you'll see that in some of those shots unlimited ammo was on. At least that's what it looked like to me. Secondly, notice how close he gets before he fires.

Difference of opinion
Offline=easy kills, online= hard kills...... that's a load if I ever heard it. Too many assumptions being made without regard to the given player and their setup.
However, I do agree that it's easy to setup in Wonder Woman view and shoot away like a pro just for the sake of creating a movie about an airplane and it's status in history. Does not matter if the person who created it was doing everything they could to get easy kills if the prime reason was to show how good the Experten were in WWII IF that was the focus of their movie making. But if they pass it on as their skills under full realism, then anyone who does claim will face detailed criticizing and that's just a natural progression of being that good. If they truly do well, they should stand up just fine under criticizing Flight Simmers. :) |
For all we know those shots may be real, but have taken quite a few attempts before they were right, to most that have flown Il2 for a long time none of the shots were that difficult as to be impossible, even in full real settings, although having said that they are not the type of hits you would be likely to get in every fight.
As the movie is depicting the 'experten' I think you would expect to see a compilation of the makers best shots, either way nice work and hats of to Gutted for taking the time to produce it, another positive with these movies is that they might also attract more people to fly the Sim and thats got to be a good thing! |
I knew Gutted when he made that movie. I really like it. But like was stated, he did it offline, so the AI can be dumbed down. He told me the shots were real, and I can believe it. They aren't that hard. Any decent pilot can make a movie about how good they are at IL-2.
Here is mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvw5a0HDjkQ |
LOL! now thats flying
|
LOL I love that video I always say the same stuff keep it up ...

AHAH! thats a masterpiece!!!!!! |
I'm disappointed in the quality when I uploaded it. But it wasn't the best in the first place. It get's the point across. ;)

Crash lol... man i was LMAO, really. BRILLIANT!!!
|
Nicely done!
Regardless of the quality Crash, you're movie kinda sums things up for us ace-wannabees,LOL. Every speech bubble you used in the movie I've actually said something similar at one time or another (I'm only too willing to blame my plummeting aircraft on anything other than my poor piloting skills), LMAO. For what it's worth I rarely fly in online dogfights cuz I can never tell whether I'm going up against an "honest" opponent. At least AI is consistent (although the higher skill levels still seem to pull off some cheezy non-ballistic manoeuvres, d'oh).
Well done (and the music was actually a good fit);) |
Good one Crash!
Hahaha! I needed that for a good laff! I agree, it was great making that video! Make another one! :P
|
I didn't make that. I just collected the tracks and came up with the idea. A friend at the time (this was several years ago) actually put the whole thing together. He's mentioned at the end.
Anyway, I do have some ideas for another one, if there are any movie makers up for the task. *cough*mysticpuma*cough* |
10/10 well done CRASH!

I am in no way being critical of the movie, it is fun to watch, Crash's one is even better and is more how I fly! I was just pointing out that the movie was made offline flying against the AI. This makes these types of shots easier to setup. The original question post was: "Gutted" the best shot in IL2? That prompted my response. Whether Gutted is or is not I do not know, but I can take the AI to the cleaners offline. Online I fly like the pilot in Crash's video... Only I die more! |

You should give yourself more credit Crash . You are the same JG27 Crash from FS right? You shot down 2 on February 10th.
|
Very nice work.
It seems somewhere along the line, good humor and fun have become a Forgotten Battle for many of us. Keep up the good work. |
With a little practice, and the same armament as Gutted was using you too, can kill countless targets. If you will look, he is using Gun pods, I recall Him stating that, and the use of unlimited ammo, after making the movies. I liked his Superbeast one better. No matter how he may, or may not of made the shot, the view from the cockpit is a great learning tool, and I've watched it over and over through out the years, and passed it along to others aswell.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwUBzCczkXQ As for Crash's movie loved it the first time I saw it, and it too is on my HD along with many other little IL2 movie gems. |

That was my first FS mission. It was fun! But I stink with no icons. |
As much as I despise the arrogance of this movie, this guy was indeed a very good shot. For those of you that don't know, I made OneOhNinage as a reply to this movie. The quote at the end is a classic narcissism. When you make up quotes about yourself, all credibility is lost. But like was said before, a decent pilot can compile a "best of" and put it to music and look like God's gift. He is flying a FW-190 with 30mms in the wing on the War Clouds server.
Anyway... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpBMsB0qAqo |
IMHO hes (Gutted) not using the realistic gunnery setting all the time... In some half of those shots doesnt take enough lead, or not lead at all! The P47 that got it's tail shot away for example - very far, no lead, no explosions... His vid is very entertaining, agreed, but it tells nothing about his flying skills. Same goes to the 2nd vid...
If I had recorded my every flight I could make a vid similar to the GoodKnight's one... And again, entertaining yes, but having fought him myself I got to say he aint quite THAT good! Of course you could say the same about my imaginary P51 vs poor 109s HACK & SLASH vid. ;) |
In slight defense of Gutted's vid... it was made along time ago. I don't know in what point in the series, but I'm thinking somewhere around when AEP first came out. So the FM, the guns... heck, the whole sim, was completely different back then. I used to fly the 109 almost exclusively back then because it flew well and fought well.
I sure miss that 109. The current FM just doesn't do it for me. :\ |
It's still the pilot and not the aircraft.
I can shoot like Elmer Keith, but can't fly for sh*t. :) |

Just a thought. |
Natural has little to do with it. Trail and error, and learning from mistakes has a lot more to do with it. When you start out you can't. Eventually you can. To me it's that simple.
And I don't always. |
wow.. I already replied to this in the original posters same thread on simhq. so i wont do it again here:
http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthread...443173&fpart=2 p.s. more movies: http://www.youtube.com/user/JG52Gutted and for the record.. i never ever said i was the best at anything. |
Good to see you Gut
|
p.s. there's only about 4 scenes in the movie where im using either gunpods or nose mk108s'. and yes it was done offline vs. AI. it's much quicker to get the camera shots you are after and there's no lag. my ww2ol movies however.. are all online vs. real people, and using a VCR so as to not impact my game performance.
|
I think some of the people miss the point of Legends and Superbeast. To me, it was just an entertaining fight video featuring the 109. I tend to think some people think of it as a "Look how good I am at this game" video, which I really don't believe is the case. I like them for their entertainment value.
|
JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR: I didn't mean to make it look like Gutted was bragging over his skill in any way.
I did take the Legend movie as entertainment (over and over and over again  ) but in the process i was impressed by his flying and shooting skills. I thought it was worthy of it's own thread or two and as you see they have generated quite a bit of interest. |
I have had "Legend:The BF109" on my HD (and on my previous PC) for a couple years now. It has been one of my favorite Il2 movies ever made.
|
Nice, this thread begins to develop into a selection of high-quality movies. Here's my addition, even if "civilian":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fej9EWWLSsw The pure joy of flight. |
Now that was a fun video!
