That BoB was going to be cancelled... I said it was scuttlebutt but just to be sure I am asking at the source... No truth correct?

I highly doubted this is true. After Oleg and gang spending untold ammounts in the last several years on this sim of both time and money and simply give up and cancel it just does not make any intellegent sense to me.

Last time Oleg talked about the sim was 24th January 2008. Read Oleg Answers!
I seriously doubt in the last few days he suddenly decided, 'what the heck lets cancel the thing'
He also reffered to a Korean war sim using the same engine as SOW: BoB so lets can this rumour right now

yea i heard those rumors also on H.L. I asked if these guys visited this forum and they said NO.So i left it at that!

Well you can invite them here, we're always glad to see everybody. And they will find out, that it's the only place where one can find the real info from Oleg.

It seems to me that UBISOFT has probably come to realize that this game ( BoB ) will not turn a profit. After more than 5 years of development, and hundreds of thousands
( or million(s)? ) of dollars invested into the game with no release date in the foreseeable future, I think UBI has given up on 1c. Given the disappointing sales figures for the previous 1c products of flight sims OUTSIDE of russia, ubi is taking it's losses and "Bailing out" of this plane wreck. Hopefully, Oleg will cut ties with UBISOFT and publish the game under 1c as a downloadable install.

Its interesting that people complain about SOW's five year developement time and can't see all the IL-2 projects that were sold and resold during this same time period. I would have liked to have seen BOB ages ago, but realise it probably made BOB a better product. The delays have given aircraft and terrain builders time for more flyables and landmarks. Computer improvements that will allow all of SOW's advanced features to be put together with playable frame rates. The developer making periodic statements saying things are steadly advancing. Its all good.

You can take the Vaporista's with a grain of salt.

I dont complain about any of it.... AFAIC BoB can take another year.... as if i'd be flying some other sim... FB is the bee's knees for me... I have no doubt that BoB is coming.. when is anyone's guess... but it will be here and when it gets here it will be revolutionary... in the meantime.... :)

I think the point raised is not that SOW BoB is cancelled but whether Ubisoft are still going to distribute the game. I am certain 1c will not pull the plug especially since they launched their new game download section...
My guess is SOW BoB will go the way of Theatre of War and become an elicence download project.
But what do I know

Hopefully, it is just a rumour, I tried to raise the point at SimHQ after hearing it on HL over a few evenings, unfortunately the thread was hijacked :(

If BoB takes another year that is not a problem ....its all good :)

I can't be the only one who is tired of other people talking about stuff they know nothing about (i.e. BoB being canceled) especially when they don't even come to this site.
I cannot say that the fan base for this genre is huge, but I will say that there are those of us who have stayed by Oleg's side for all these years and will support him right up till the end. Oleg has done something for combat flight sims that no one else has done before and he has garnished respect from many of us for that. How ever long he needs to complete BoB is fine with me. I will still be here when he is finished with it and I will be here long after.

I believe inst easy sell a Master Piece for resellers...

The BlitzPigs' well placed spy network has it on good authority that UBI will still be the distributor for the Western markets.

And as we all know Oleg is not dropping the project.

Sheesh, I've alway s thought of myself as a pessimist, but I'm a right Pollyanna compared to some of the folks around the edges of this sim.

I have been asking if there is an estimated release date for the 4.09 patch and my thread was hi-jacked. I see you reponding here so.....in the hopes that you might respond, please, is there a forecasted release date for the 4.09 patch, and might you say when that is? please?

those of us who've been aroundthe sim for more than a few months know that unless Oelg says it's cancelled that such rumors are just that rumors.
we pretty much know who most of the insiders are who are working on it...and untill something leaks from them (unlikely) or Oleg posts.....we can pretty much discount any runors we may hear.

and come on Bearcat you of all people know better. lol
i'm surpirsed you even gave this a 2nd thought.
