Update?

While I was waiting for the RO2 beta to download I saw CoD recieve a 20mb update.

1.JaVA_Sharp 08-30-2011 06:42 PM

I saw that too, and now it doesn't work anymore.....

Havoc04 08-30-2011 06:49 PM

Did you disable any mods?
Mine works fine after the update
Like to know what the update was for though...

Regards

Raggz 08-30-2011 06:50 PM

Same here. Wonder what that was. I started the game and it still shows 1.02.481 version.
And steam is unbelievable slow now. Can't even download a small map pack i bought no matter which download server i pick.

Btw, you will love RO2. Been in beta for awhile and it's awesome :D

furbs 08-30-2011 06:54 PM

New launcher?

pancake 08-30-2011 06:55 PM

Saw it too, not touched the game since June and after the download i curiously tried launching and it says the game is unavailable. Oh well, I was waiting for a patch anyway ;-)

Sometime tonight unless some problem appear :)

Something is wrong with steam now. I can barely login right now.

1.JaVA_Sharp 08-30-2011 07:13 PM

weird, its working normal now except for the launcher.exe problems.....

furbs 08-30-2011 07:19 PM

Think it just replaced the UBI logo thingy. i had removed mine.

1.JaVA_Sharp 08-30-2011 07:21 PM

that may just be it, Furbs.

1./JG2_Miller 08-30-2011 07:23 PM

But the Ubi logo is actually only 8,28 MB and i downloaded something between 20 and 30 MB so there has to be something else.

Madfish 08-30-2011 07:29 PM

@1st pagers: Could we please stop derailing the thread for discussions about some weird shooter game beta?

For me it was some 30mb patch. This is because I am an ATI user and had suffered from a GPU in idle mode while playing due to the Ubisoft into video bug. As the solution is to delete the logo video the patch now also re-downloaded that video now. Hence the difference in size to all those other patches.

However, testing revealed that the Ubisoft logo bug is not corrected although the logo file was restored.

So if you're using ATi graphics cards the solution still is:
Browse to "Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\parts\core\GUI" and rename the "Logo.wmv", move or delete it.

This won't get you banned while playing online.

Further I'm also interested what was changed by the patch. Did anyone stumble about obvious changes? Haven't seen any so far.

ATAG_Dutch 08-30-2011 07:31 PM

Other than the ubi logo coming back I just had a few runs and can't see any obvious difference online or off, other than ffb seems to take longer to kick in!

I disabled the logo again though.;)

Very strange.

Maybe VAC-related?
As the SDK is announced.

Same here, UBI logo and files written to the 'parts' folder - SFS file and others have todays date and time of update!

That is what I think tbh

ElAurens 08-30-2011 10:43 PM

Perhaps it is related to the announcement of Hyperlobby support?

icarus 08-30-2011 11:14 PM

Me too, and this is not the first time I have had this happen since I bought the game and deleted the Ubi avi..

conio 08-31-2011 01:04 AM

3 Files updated

These are the updated files:
parts\core\files.sfs
parts\bob\files.sfs
launchergdf.dll

Now the question is, what changed?

ATAG_Doc 08-31-2011 01:34 AM

Yes they are new but them + logo = less than the update size yes?

Wolf_Rider 08-31-2011 10:03 AM

a Steam platform update and some file updates for the COD itself... possibly for Hyperlobby and VAC, but, the sim does seem to be a bit smoother, at least over buildings

flyingblind 08-31-2011 05:35 PM

I don't care what's changed I just know I have a good increase in fps and smoothness. Probably getting 30 to 40 percent increase over land and buildings after deleting recomended files and revalidating.
