yeah the game is great and i'm waiting for this
but i'm a big fun of BF3 also
much more fun online for me ;-)

Buchon 08-20-2011 06:12 PM

Well, this have lean ;)

The game looks really good, pretty graphics, vehicles that make in shame BF3, and they improved the robotics animations.

But there still too many menus, menus to everything, cant they do rose interface for usual commands ?

And no word of the net code, ArmA and ArmA2 is a lag fest, the net code is terrible at the point that you should use third party applications to play.

Hope they improve those ... specially the net code.

Battlefield 3 has way better graphics than this.

Here we get back to the same issue that wings of prey lovers have with CloD, the ARMA series of games is the hot looking chick with brains, the BF series of games are the absolute bombshell chicks but with heads full of ricebubbles! With the limitations of today's computers there have to be some tradeoffs! I will take ARMA any day of the week.

In fact, Arma is casual girl with brains, but various health issues. :( BF is dumb hot chick wannabe, with too much cosmetics, but fit body. :o

P.S: hot chicks are those, who give you wings !!!

Does anyone know if Arma 3 will support hyper-threading, coz i was thinking about upgrading to an i7 2600, and if it doesnt i will be upgrading to an AMD phenom X6. Also, does anyone know if the 64/64 map is available on PC only or on Xbox too, the only reason i would get this game on Xbox is because it has a better community system and it is more easy to play with my friends.

Thanks

mcler002 08-22-2011 08:42 AM

Hold it!

Im going to love and enjoy bf3!

The arma series is good, but like clod, you have to be committed!

Bf3 you can jump in and out as you please, without having to learn a million keys or functions :D

Both graphics and visuals for bf3 and arma 3 look good enough to get me dissolved in either game :P

I've played operation flashpoint years ago, animations still looks the same, it keeps feeling clumsy, nevertheless, the combat was always the best, no fancy things, one or two bullets and you are down. Shame that interaction with water looks horrible, animations lack proper blending, and runs in shallow water like it was on firm ground, that kills inmersion for me.

There is room for both games on my HDD.

BF3 will be my player vs player fix. ArmA 3 will be for the epic coop missions and mods (and it will be 100% less clunky with a proper physics engine). Can't wait for both games.

Rattlehead 08-22-2011 10:35 AM

Arma is the kind of game (sorry, sim) that I would love to get into. I always lean more to the simulator side of things, and judging by the video, this looks great.

The thing for me, when I bought and tried Arma 2, was that the interface was plain rubbish. It wasn't intuitive, it was slow and clunky, and it completely ruined the experience for me and put me off the series. This was the unpatched version fresh from the shelf, so maybe that was the reason, I don't know.

You should give it another try. Arma2 has come a long way with the patches. As I'm sure CoD will, too ;)

it literally has taken a couple of years for arma2 to be what it should have been. and the same goes for il2 hopefully, released in 2011 playable in 2012/13

Speaking of ARMA....

Does anyone here belong to or participate in organized clan-type COOP/PVP game modes focused on realism?

I'm talking at minimum ACE mod, perhaps ACRE (havn't gotten into it yet since I don't play organized multiplayer I see no point as of now).

I've just about had it with teens playing BlackOps and all and would like a piece of "real" action.

Anyone playing in European times would be awesome, since I can't participate during the graveyard shift :)

Blackdog_kt 08-26-2011 05:40 AM

I don't know what kind of settings and mods they run and i think they mostly cater to the US timezones, but you could check out simHQ's weekly ArmA event and see if it suits you.

xnomad 08-26-2011 08:43 AM

Who cares about graphics? It's AI that matters to me and the Arma series has had terrible AI since the OFP days. Single player is ruined by either over-alert xray vision equipped AI, or complete blundering idiots.

Someone will now say that it's MP where Arma is at, but I've tried that and it's a flicker show of lag. I see guys who look like they are stuck in a forward rewind loop, going back and forth. It's a shame as the graphics are great and there's some real potential but they've got to get these two pressing issues sorted if you ask me.

Ataros 08-26-2011 01:27 PM

Most of MP bugs were fixed within a year after the release. No lag at European or US servers at least.

AI has some room for improvement and looks funny sometimes but I think it is the best AI available. It is not scripted as in "corridor" shooters, it really makes decisions in open world.

Im in a Arma2OA clan. Its a CoOp server you may want to try. we use ts3 for comms. We do not use the ace mod tho.

Homepage www.nakedsquid.com

The homepage gives the list of mods we use also addon packs used on our servers for OFP (remember that? yes its still very much alive) and Arma2OA

To be honest the best way to load addons and keep them up to date (ACE and CBA are very regularly updated) is to use Sixupdater.

I use sixupdater AND teamspeak 3. So I'm totally in for a try :)

whoarmongar 08-26-2011 10:03 PM

Nice look forward to seeing you on there. I updated with sixupdater tonight and now run CBA v163, alas the LoL server is still on .v162 so I couldnt connect oops. but I will be on from about mid afternoon tomorrow (sat). v162 is in the file transfer in our t/s channel tho.
So after this fail I thought I would go on ATAG server for a while but it was empty ((.

Ataros 09-02-2011 08:10 AM

Project Reality for Arma2 will be out today. Get it. The only teamplay-focused milsim (mod).
