Gtx 580
Holla guys, im just wondering if i could get a bit of input here. Im building a new pc and im just curious about who is running a GTX580 in their system and what they think of it for CloD?
If i get positive feedback im going to get the Asus GTX580 Matrix :D Thanks for any input guys :) |
Hola back at ya! :)
I've got two of the little monkeys and have run without SLI and the 580 (1.5 GB) runs well. It might be worth owners of the ATI comparables offering their feedback too just to get a balanced view. Is the Asus GTX580 Matrix the 3GB variant? Toodles Badger |
Gday badger :) Neg mate, its only the 1.5GB card, just the ROG edition. Im just wonderin if the 1.5 runs it as well as the 3GB card, cause i want it to match the ROG motherboard i bought :)
Else ill look at either the Palit 3gb or MSI lightning if it turns out the 3GB cards are the go. |
Very satisfied with the GTX 580, it's the last monocore GPU, so you do not have to deal with SLI. This is my test before and after the change:

Yep, I'm quite happy with mine too. I have the eVGA GTX580 with 1.5 and I think the main limiting factor on my build at the moment is my stock clocked i7 940. Everyone who's getting amazing frames seems to have their processor bumped up to at least 3.2 or 3.5 gHz.
I'm happy with the frame rates I'm getting though with pretty much everything on medium or high. |
So Helrza..... what are you going to do?!?! :-D
Cue: Dramatic 1940's style music!!! |
I would not touch anything with 1,5Gb VRAM if I was going for a new purchase if I were you.
Go straight for a 3Gb VRAM version. My 2cents... ~S~ |
Just wait for the new patch and decide then, if you go with the 1.5 or 3 Gig version.
|
Again, very happy with mine,it was undoubtably the best upgrade I made on my bit of kit.
I have the ZOTAC 1.5 GB version and it runs COD very sweetly. |
I was following vids like Tuckie for a while then went and got a 3gig gainwood gtx580 so amazing and can run every game full graphics above 60fps.
Besides 3gig is better for the long term. I swapped to the 3 gig from gtx 285 sli. I play COD and Arma2ao all the time in full glory. SOOOO HAPPY!!! |
definitly sold on the 580 :D i might do like tintifax said and see how the next patch goes and make the decision between the 3gb and the 1.5. Its great to hear the 1.5 is playin it great, pushin me towards my dream card :D
thanks heaps for the input guys :D and the clip of it over london is awsome :D cant wait to get me hands on it ;) |
In almost every case the 3GB card is slightly slower than 1.5GB reference card...most likely due to higher latency from the 64x32 modules and increased memory controller overhead....
I'd buy the cheaper one |
My EVGA GTX 580SC has been flawless with my i7 2600k in both IL2 and RoF with everything maxed out. RoF has been particularly impressive, I mean its damn near photo-realistic.
I wish I had something to tell you in reference to CoD but I just wasn't impressed enough with it to bother installing it on my new build. Regardless I dont think youll be missing out on anything whichever way you go 1.5 or 3ghz, both will serve you very well. |
Firstly its a brillant card both the 1.5g or 3.0g versions, secondly strange that no one has mentioned this, your 6 gigs of ram is been wasted on a 32x operating system, and thirdly you need to update your cpu to a quad core. Installing a 580 currently on your system specs will bottleneck the card, and it will be handicapped mostly by your dual core cpu.

can you detail a little bit more the settings you have on NV CP and game settings? I have 2xGainward 3GB 580´s and I am a little frustrated with the performance. thank you |
@robc, thatnks for that liittl bit of info, u just helped me decide on the 1.5gb matrix :D
@herbs, yeh i know about the 6gb of ram :) the system is actully dual boot with 32bit and 64bit. But for the sake of being able to use my gameport joystick i need to use 32bit, so therefore i can only use CloD on the 32bit OS :D the new card is for the new system ive started building for CloD, so the old specs are pretty much irrelevent :D p.s. Even thou its a dual core, ud be quite suprised with how well ive got cliffs runs on it :D 30 fps over london with med settings, and smooth :) |
