New NVIDIA Driver 280.19
http://www.guru3d.com/news/nvidia-ge...iver-download/
No word of SLI support for Clod. Well, maybe its still there even if not mentioned? If not i find that REALLY strage. Cant be a job of weeks to make a profile - can it? Since i am at work and can only test in a few hrs when i get home id appreciate if anyoen could test and give feedback. Winger |

Running them now, no change for COD, no SLI profile for COD.
|
awesome! a month passed without this, and another one probably following.
yet, they are not on Nvidia's site yet.. so they are not an official release (not even a beta one). |

Its not there because neither NVidia or AMD cares enough for CoD to put it anywhere near the top of their to do list. Has zero to do with luthier, the dev team, santa claus or the easter bunny. |
Im sure Luthier said that nvidia were onboard, not that it matters you can create your own profile you dont need to have a predifined one, but from what I have read in doing this there is little gain if any, so it suggests that SLI still doesn't work, thats the most likely reason for nvidia not including it.
last comment from luthier In May; Added ATI Crossfire support. NVidia SLI support will become available when a profile for the game is added in an upcoming official driver release; The simplest way to know if your SLI is working is to create a new profile, point the profile to your CLOD launcher then stick some FSAA on and then activate the SLI slider, this will tell you if your game supports SLI, i would suggest using a basic SFR (split frame rendering) for starters. When I last did this there was nothing it simply didn't work. |
Why speculate Tree?
It's nothing more than a beta driver, and you immediately start blaming the dev team. You sir need a vacation. And why would Nvidia care about a title that sells so few copies? |

you ask tree to stop blaming devs (which actually is a little bit off, as the driver is not officially out yet), but at the same time try to put it on Nvidia shoulders.. but the probability that Nvidia would not care (they have hundreds of requests from the biggest to the smallest games) or not have the man power to do it are sooo small, that are almost inexistent..
|
Sorry Tree, posted before my morning tea. EL is not a morning person.
:( I do suspect that Nvidia has bigger fish to fry right now, lots of big name, big selling titles coming out soon. We'll see when this beta becomes WHQL. (Or whatever they call it now a days). |

I did try it with a profile for another game (BFBC2) and SLI DOES WORK. It just creates too many artifacts and texture flashes. So I'll wait until they actually make a profile for CLOD and optimize it for SLI. |
Bingo Jaws. I went from 45-70 FPS to 80-120 FPS with SLI on, but the flashing was unbearable.

Thank you Tree.
While we may not always agree, there is not point in being uncivil about it. Cheers. |
Just tried these out with CloD. I must say (rather excitedly), absolutely remarkable performance improvement over previous drivers. Took a scenic flight over England. I couldn't believe it. Stuttering over land has all but been eliminated- I mean, it's truly night and day... I don't think I've ever been as impressed by new drivers as I am with these. Seriously guys, give these a try and report back. I'm beginning to think that the performance related issues in CloD are more related to drivers and not the game itself. I don't know what else to assume as my game performance has just been transformed. I checked out my video/quality settings. Nothing has changed as far as I can tell. I'm running high land shading, etc. Same as before.
Best surprise I've had in a long time! (my gfx card is a geforce 570 btw) |
This is good to know, I'm using a 570 as well.
|
Yes I tying out the beta drivers, better aa and
Multisampling. No more jagies either. But alas still ctding after 10 min. |

ANALYSIS NVIDIA 280.19 b VS 275.33
1 Attachment(s)
I just finished benchmarking the 270.19 beta drivers as well as my 275.33 track THE BLACK DEATH in CLOD. The graph attached shows all except Vidcard Memory usage since it had to be on a much larger scale.
Installation Method: I simply installed the 280.19B over existing driverset 275.33. I did not uninstall existing driver, reboot, installing new driver, and reboot. I didn't bother overlaying the graphs as I say ZERO differences on all parameters wherein 5 datapoints were recorded each second for total duration of nearly 900 datapoints. Thought some of you would enjoy the colorful lines :). Seen some of you in the RAVENS NEST, hope to you again. SPEX: Q9550 GTX570 WIN764 4G RAM |

Is it a stand alone program, windows, or maybe came with your controls? Does it use much mem, CPU... Whatever... I used to use one along time ago, but I don't even remember it's name... Thanks in advance... sorry I'm going o/t... :) |
"Maybe hes only using one video card and seen an increase in performance."
Yes. Only one. "I didn't bother overlaying the graphs as I say ZERO differences on all parameters" I wouldn't be surprised if fps were the same with these and the previous drivers, the difference is in the smoothness, which is definitely pronounced. Anyone else experience this on a single card? "Yes I tying out the beta drivers, better aa and Multisampling. No more jagies either." I'm not sure how much is placebo effect and how much is real, but I also had a thought that AA had been improved. External views showed that the plane was still looking a bit jaggy, but things for some reason seemed to appear nicer in cockpit view. Less distant groiund shimmering perhaps? I will check it out tonight. |

ok then, with SLi, setup one card as physics with 1 card as graphics, would this help with this driver?

Hard to tell if any improvement with the new drivers. Running 50-60fps most of the time (vert synch on, Monitor refresh 60Hz). It was pretty smooth before and I only get slight unsmoothness when I scan around with TrackIR which may just be the TIR itself. Notrunning SLi, only 1 GPU.
