iCockpit: IL2 cockpit on iPad/iPhone
Hi,
I'm currently working on an app for iOS which allows you to view the cockpit instruments on your iPhone/iPad. There is still a lot of work left but I give you here a little preview to get your opinion. Here are some screenshots EDIT: May 6th: beta version screens http://f.cl.ly/items/3b0T0m1y283D1d3...reenshot6s.png http://f.cl.ly/items/0C1f243c3F400E1...reenshot5s.png If necessary, I'll port it also to Android. cheers, Tex ;) |
Lol...

Don't laugh. They are doing some great things with the iPad and the DCS: A-10C Warthog sim. Check out the thread here:

cool idea- been waiting to see how long before someone did this:grin:
as a confirmed udpspeed addict:rolleyes:- how easy is it to change graphics? (and maybe needle behaviour to suit?) good luck with this project |

I'm not entirely sure how the backend of this works (or what capabilities are there), but are you reading the variometer from the sim or are you calculating it based off of the altimeter? I ask because it seems to be pointing to the exact vertical speed, while the actual instrument has a bit of a lag time to the display.
|
From my experiments with DeviceLink, I think that the variometer readings it gives are 'instantaneous', or at least change more rapidly then the cockpit ones - the latter are probably based on a weighted average, which would be more realistic - the actual instrument probably won't respond very rapidly..

I'm currently very busy at work so I have almost no time for the development of this project that's why I haven't posted any updates recently. As soon as I have more time I will continue working on this. |

That's a great idea... I think it would be too small for me on my ipod, wish I had an ipad.
|
Very nice!!!!!
+1 for Android!!!!! |
Bump for an update, even in "Beta" form? (I have the Xcode if its an issue of releasing through iTunes I could load the project directly)......
Cheers... |

Soo .. I'm working in this app again and I'm now focusing on the map view. You'll be able to see the map as it is in the game on the device.
The map gets updated live so all what is moving in the game is moving on the iPad. Objectives and waypoints are also displayed there ;) I will respect the game's difficulty meaning that if the games does not show the icons and paths on the map I will not show it neither. http://f.cl.ly/items/2Z2d0O232R1B211...04.13%20PM.png Btw, if you are interested, I will post more minor development updates on my Twitter. |
That's cool, love it.
|
Very nice!
+1 to Android, please :) |

Howdy Tex
As you know, I'm into using my iPhone, iPad and USB mini LCDs for Both FalconBMS and DCS-A10c. I have used a glass cockpit gauges To display instruments for LoMac and Il2 to second video port and Monitor too. I'm looking forward to testing your iOS apps for Il2.... Do you plan to make this work for both Il2-1946 and COD? After you get the first release out, may I suggest gauge packs For the different airforces? Like a set for the IJN, Luftwaffe, RAF, Soviets |

Should the map be fullscreen or just a popup ?
|
Full screen!
|
Choosible...
If it can't be a choice, I'd vote for full screen |
it will actually be a configurable ;)
|
If you need a beta tester, I have an IPOD Touch and run IL2-HSFX5.0

Can't they just put it in a mods folder as they do with any non-jsgme mod?

Awesome !
Can you detail the mini-map features ? Is it a complete one including planes and front position (like the Mds for example) or just a duplicated version of the map image where we can navigate (which would be very helpfull anyway...) ? |
Is it available yet? :-)
|
any progress ? news ?
