Unfortunatly there are several killed and injured in what seems to be a bombing attack on the govermental buildings and on a shooting attack on a political meeting just hours later.

This is just awfull. The blast in the heart of the governmental area was absolutely devostating, but the massacre on the youths at Utøya is incomprehensible! The newsguys tells us that it was a 32 year old big blond norwegian guy that went totaly bananas with a handgun. He was observed a cpl of hours earlier in the same area that the bomb went of. It's a puzzle, but they have arrested the most central piec; the blond guy.
Only the future investigation can uncover what happend, but this situation is something people all over the world has felt strongly on occations. We will prevail. Rest assured. We are closing the ranks. Whatever it was that hit us, we will never let forces like that dictate and rule our heads and hearts.

It's just heartbreaking, and very, very hard to comprehend and take in. As it seems it's one single person with an ideology similar to extreme rightwing, nationalistic and anti-multicultural sympaties, and that he operated on his own. It seems like these kinds of ideas never will die, but what is devostating is that someone actually is capable of react and act with a determination and means like this. This is in many ways why we have to keep history alive and keep on telling our children what happend in the era that the very game that have brought us togehter is all about; Never let totalitary ideologies and ideas dictate your mind - fight them! In my opinion it is the fact that we are different that makes us equal and legitimates human rights and freedom for all, all over the world - embrace diversity!

If this evil guy don't take himself out, he will be kept in a high security prison for the rest of his life. Rest assured gents. Norway don't excecute killers, we haven't done since 1945, but we have laws to keep confused and evil madmen like this detained in small, tiny rooms for life... He will never achieve absolute security for himself as long as he lives. Guys like this is prey in any prison.

Glad to hear all is well with Kav and McQ and families. This event is beyond shocking. I heard on the news this morning the maximum jail sentence this lunatic will face is 21 years. They need to give him consecutive sentences for each person he killed and throw away the key

I personally think they should leave him chained to a lampost in Oslo somewhere with a little sign saying who he is. Then go back for whatever is left after a couple of days.

The moment he pulled the trigger he lost all of his human rights in my eyes.

Obviously it's never going to happen, but jail is far too good for him.

Hopefully he'll be put into the general prison population, for a bunch of criminals prisoners usually have a quite good sense of justice and punishment...

Strangely enough the guy that wrote it, Nordahl Grieg, fell down in a Lanc over Berlin in 1943. His body has never been recovered.
