Jatta Rasso, personal insults on a forum are very telling indeed. You tell carguy off for it then in the same breath you do exactly the same, with slightly more bile I might add. Your comment about a poll wether or not someone should be banned is ridiculous, I assure you you are mistaken in your judgement of what result that would have. I think the trolls are in the minority, the same names come up over and over. Their posts may be filling the forum but it only takes a few posting ad infinitum. I am really glad that these threads are getting locked as they have absolutely no value whatsoever.

now consider his posting history: calling stupid, idiot, immature etc to anyone whom he disagrees with, calling the majority of the community loosers with no life, list goes on.. but this last one tops it all. i don't know what the issues with him are, but they are severe. he even came up with some story that he had a life because he drove someone somewhere.. whatever. the poll thing was over reacted and i'm not proud, but neither worried, it's just a post, it's just a forum. as for me, i dare you (or anyone for that matter) finding one post where i am rude or uneducated to anyone (except from this last one alright). at least i can say that. right carguy? |

Ali, it wasn't a simple petition, it was Tree trying to provoke an angry mob.

i just kinda agree'd with that controvertial petition. I believe the communication factor is an issue worth discussing one way or another but iam honestly happy to let it rest now.
as nearmiss said earlier Luthier knows. i just hope that Luthier has not tarnished that thought with the trollish brush given who the poster was if that makes sense. for me personally communication is a big thing. Luthier knows about it so at the very least i know that he knows so thats good. that was my main concern about having a post with "some" substance removed so quickly. Anyway i cant sacrific my dignity anymore by getting annoyed at any of it. I just understand the annoyance of all whats happening. |
Ali, they're trying to fix the game. What else do you need to have communicated?

i called carguy 'scumbag'. there. again i'm not proud of it, but i also do not have a negative posting history on my back, and of that i (according to its importance) am; hatchet is buried. and Sammi79 please think before using plural on word 'insults' because it just gave a completely different portrait of reality... |
Nice to see positive posts. COD has passed one important milestone, that of being released instead of cancelled. The next milestone at least as important, is weathering the unfinished tag with enough sales and support to continue development. Luthiers last post is very encouraging, with the stated strong sales the development is on solid ground. It appears all the negative hand wringing hasn't hurt sales enough to kill it. Its going to take some time, but now its up to the developers to do their part and finish COD.

I have this feeling this game will be great.
Sometimes you have to fail big time before success is seeded. I mean humankind got kicked out of paradise for disobeying God, but several millennia later God comes in and redeems the whole sorry lot we are. now we're supposed to be a merry lot World war 2 for US was epic fail, Pearl Harbor, losing the Philippines etc . .. but US played a key role for pwnage required for VE and VJ day Doctors said to Andrea Bocelli's Mom after treating her and finding out her son would be born a defect, said to abort him in the womb. But she bore him and the guy's a gift to music. This guy named Walt, ran into bankruptcy and failed as a actor. his last name? Disney. The origins of Christianity were thought to be over, when their leader died upon the cross and his disciples scattered. But 2000 years later, Jesus's followers comprise the largest religion in the world and the Bible is the best selling book, all without serious marketing / advertising. This man, his music teacher "as a composer he is hopeless", but his last name is Beethoven. Finest hour's leader, Churchill epic failed the 6th grade An actor was told he'd never make it in the business. After playing Han Solo, it's safe to say he's "made it". Teachers said he wouldn't amount to much, but Einstein broke that mold. Michael Jordan was cut from highschool basketball team and he cried at home. Good thing he didn't give up. This blonde was told she was unattractive and sucked as an actress, but Marilyn Monroe didn't see it that way. Stephen King was rejected 30 times before he got accepted and his wife had to find his submission after he trashed it . .. |
IL2 best game ever for me. Keep up the good work.

This SIM has Allot of potential, just like when ROF came out, it was a stink bomb. Given the business model of companies to make money, they have to put it out and fix it later. Just facts about running a business. Soon I suspect we will see a good patch that address alott of issues. What I would like to see Luthier post, is a change log of what to expect. |

I am tired of this "it is awesome, 5 of 5, but this doesn't work, and that, and that and this over there, but hey it has the potential, to be a diamond".... Yes coal has also potential to be diamond...
Man, does it mean that awful sounds are there just to show us how big potential is "out there"? Are you saying that user unfriendly and ugly UI is there again for the same reason? What about FM? Is the bugs there also just to show the customers, how it should be perfect, if it would work? It is just like a edit: messy car, you can start it up, after couple of hours messing around to just run few meters and kaboom, some strange noise over here and there, everything shaking, brakes are not working, transmission is tough - you know for real men only, ABS is not there at all, even producers said so, not talking about such feature like power steering... Producer is only saying we are working on it, but after couple of repairs it is still not working as it should, but still some other same damaged people says - oh, but look what a potential it has - it will be Bugatti Veyron in couple of months. Man, there is potential we will have working ABS like it is standardized in other cars too... We have to wait couple of months for power steering repair, but hey, it is still fun to drive in it... Why that "mysterious" potential was not fulfilled on 1st release or US release? Maybe truth is that such car has NO potential. |
Opitz I dissagree with your opinion that it has no potential. However on that issue we shall just have to wait and see.
|
There is the potential. But this potential is defined by the "customer" needs. It is market potential. So if anyone want to be precise talking about "potential", they have to say the complete truth and stop lying to themselves and other - they should say this: This game misses the potential, there is a lot of unfilled potential etc... A potential also can be, for example, to run this game in 3D technology with a special chip devices connected directly to your brain. It is always about what potential is fulfilled. Potential means "what is possible"... Sure many things are possible, many are not yet. But what is possible already today in other games, is not there. Why?
|
Quote:
P.S.: in the "Top games by current player count" list CloD never appear...where are players? |
And maybe you're wrong... :-P
|
Because the real potential is missed by miles... And no miracle happened during US release. And it is quite hard to swallow for almost everyone here...

Let me make some things clear to you all.
This game has potential, as long as the developers are working on it. The developers will work on it, as long as they are paid. They are paid, as long as there is a prospect for potential revenues from future customers. The future customers will only exist (considering this is a niche market game) if the current customers are happy about trade's fairness (the release state of the game, current state of the game and the fixing pace in order) to become future customers. The current customers were profoundly unstatisfied with the release state, generally not satisfied with the current state of the game nor with the pace of developer's fixing the sale-advertised/minimum game necessary broken systems nor with the lack of constant communication regarding the fixing progress. The developers can't change the current game's state over night, nor increase the fixing pace.. So, what simple logic tells you is the solution to make current customers happy enough in order to secure future sales (and eventually fullfil the potential of the game in order to widen the potential-customers area)?!! |

obviously, any reasoning, no matter how logic, must bow before the reality's cruel truth..
PS: i think you've missed the third reason which could make customers happy enough :) |

I think that last rebellion here was based on perception that nobody in MG really care what they say or want or even bother to communicate with them. This is absolutely understandable. At least for me. Because I understand also, that the most important subject here are customers, it is the central point around everything else should move. At least in my business model. OK, let's say - to be positive - that plan currently (as this makes only sense to me) - the real plan, is to make Battle of Moscow as soon as possible and focus only on that - in this Addon the most of critical bugs will be repaired. But nobody will care anymore about BOB in this phase... Or, if they are not dependent on the sales revenues, as they can have some sponsor in golden mine owner from Siberia, they will fiddle and mess around with BOB only for the rest of this year... |
Opitz, if you really had left forever and didn't care you wouldn't be posting in this forum. I believe it was Tree_UK who made the petition not Ali_fish. It is just a few anyway, 80 or so people signed it which in sales terms is a very very small number. In terms of the members on this forum it is a small number. My opinion on wether or not the petition was valid is irrelevant, the moderators make the rules here and what they say goes.
Adonys your post is well reasoned, however you generalise with customers. I am not profoundly unhappy with the game, and I also feel that the communication has been adequate under the circumstances. I have stated this before but I guess once more won't do any harm. The major bugs and problems have been acknowledged by the developers and it has been communicated that these are being worked on as a priority. Until the patch comes out I don't feel another word needs to be said. This is purely my opinion though I can understand that yours is different. |
Quote:
If so, your statement above are really poor. All IL-2 titles are INTEGRATED. MG will not "abandon" CloD for Battle of Moscow... You really need to be quiet and stop the nonsense. Battle of Moscow will use the same engine as CloD. "Focus" in Battle of Moscow is "focus" in CloD. I believe this is obvious. But as far I can see, isn't to some... |
Optiz you are lumping me in with somthing i dont actually belong to.. iam actually very positive around here and that petition was not created by me. i have the right to defend my actions too of which i have apologised for.

Lets hope for the smaller, but still annyoing bugs for the 'typical' BoB planes........... I just can remember that Oleg said years ago that making Pacific Fighters mergable was not easy - and he wished he had not to do so. Lukily he did :) I also belive, the main plan is to work on the EasternFront adon, fix the engine and make it mergable. But actually we dont know. |
Quote:
interesting thoughts and very important. Where does this mythical SDK play its part in this i wonder. i cant possibly imagine these differing game engines will be so different as to not warrant a merger. Its my belief that COD suffers of the back of the fact that someone else was incharge at one point. I think BFM should not have quite as much teething dffculty. if it doesnt agree with a cod install and requires a tandem install then there are big problems for us bob fans. Could it be the series really kicks of with BFM ??? i dont think so i think COD will rear its ugly head once again within BFM as blossoming butterfly free from its initial cocoon. evolvment is part of why we suffer with cod presently and also why we can see a bright future. This was proven before. |

what you posted was: 'Jatta Rasso personal insults on a forum are very telling indeed' as in http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthr...t=24714&page=2 this is what you repost now attempting to 'clear up': Jatta Rasso, personal insults on a forum are very telling indeed' as in above quote it's clever to put a coma in the right place. it makes a sentence with perfect sense - a meaning with which i can even agree; it addresses the subject of the first person, implying he went over the mark on the given situation with his attitude. but that's not the same sentence as it was posted by you, is it?.. without the coma, it carries a very different meaning; it addresses the subject on the third person, implying a repeated attitude from him. which isn't the case as i tried to correct before. you with me? i know, one coma can like they say 'start a war'... in one sentence you address me directly about the give situation; on the other you depict me as repeated offender. don't you honestly agree that this is what makes most grammatical sense? i'm no judge of your intentions; and if you say it's so, i have no reason not to believe so. but what counts is what one does, hence my reply. not trying to twist or shout or anything.. gee now to lighten up... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4PFi...eature=related |
Jatta Raso, you are correct. I am sorry for the confusion caused by my missing a comma - I only checked after i read your last post. I will edit it accordingly.
Lightening up ;) |
leave the edit let's just drop it ;-) *lghts one up*

I can't believe that just about every positive thread (including constructive criticism) is getting hijacked and then made useless by the same people. History tells us that to be great you must first be positive. Great men & women strive for their goals no matter what the odds. The whiners are the opposite of greatness. It is easier to destroy than to create. Easier to bad mouth others than to encourage and congratulate.
Rise Above. |
I´m a new customer so my faith is intact lol :-P.
Seriously, i think all of us here, those who complain and those who support, have faith in the devs and in the sim, for that reason we are coming every day to see if there is any news or new patch. I'm sure many of those who now complain, the day of tomorrow will be tough defenders of "CloD" and they will remember this difficult times with fun. ;-) Keep up the great work you guys are doing. |
The king IL2_1946 is dead.
Long live the king IL2_Cliff_of_Dovers. Have a nice game.;) |
COD has massive potential as long as the developers are still working on it. Most of the development team is still working on COD features while some are working on the sequel. Most new features in the unannouced sequel will also apply to COD where applicable. The Battle of Moscow I believe is not the sequel but a third party development using the new (COD) IL-2 game engine.
