Question from a new guy
Hi everyone,
I just discovered this game today (I don't know how I missed it, actually. I love WWII flying type games). Anyways, I was just curious as to whether this was a game worth getting, from the looks of it it certainly seems to be. I just want to make sure before going out after work tomorrow to grab it. Thanks guys! |

Well that sounds promising! I've seen around from what I've been reading that damage and stuff is quite realistic, like engines getting shot but giving out a few minutes later and bullet holes sticking around and etc etc. I'm getting all excited just thinking about it. I think you've sold me on it though, sir.

Best entertainment investment I have ever made.
Great game, super community (ps3) and an upcoming sequel to add to the fun. Ps: It will crash your personal life in RL, but its worth it ;) |
I think, it´s the best game about the military aircrafts on console.
It's the only chance to play a simulator (or similar) outside the PC if you like warbirds of World War II, and you have a console, don´t doubt, it's your game ;) |
HI their.
As your probably aware by now, IL2 is a must buy!! And as KAV has pointed out, the community is great (overall, PS3/360) and you'll not be short of help if its required. You may find the learning curve steep at first, but give it chance and you'll prevail. Theirs a few of us (360) players on here so if you get stuck then just give us a shout, though generally anyone can help :) and would be more than willing to. |
Lets see. :???: "To buy or not to buy that be the question."
Great Community! Great Airplanes! Great Physics! Great Graphics! Great Action! Great Fun! I could go on! |

Welcome to the forum, yes the game is a must buy if you love WWII aviation or aviation in general.

What can I add that hasn't already been said- just be prepared to write your life off for a good while. 2 years on and this game still does it by the bucket load. Great game and even greater community...nuff said!!

All of you have been great help, thank you so much! I am definitely going down to the Gamestop on my lunch break today and picking this one up. I can't wait to get home and get into some epic dogfights, I've been playing the demo religiously for the past two days since I found it

It's a blast to play and there is a great community of fans that keep the multiplayer alive and well. Tips from Slothboy:
1. Play the campaign on Realistic Most online lobbies are in Realistic mode. Sometimes we'll play the odd Sim game and those are fun too, but most of the time you will find folks playing Real. Playing that way all the time will get you used to the flight characteristics so you can compete. Completing the campaign (on any difficulty) also unlocks several "go to" planes that will keep you on an even playing field once you go online. 2. Adjust your sensitivity! In arcade mode it is virtually impossible to stall. In Realistic mode the flight characteristics of each plane are different so it is VITAL that you go into options and adjust the ELEVATOR sensitivity based on your plane. You can generally leave the Ailerons alone. Ideally you want to be just on the edge of stalling out in a tight turn. 3.FRIENDS! The only way to find games with any certainty online is to fill up your friends list with "bird people". When you get in a multiplayer lobby with players you haven't met, send everyone a friend request. Most everyone online is more than happy to add another player to their list. And don't be bashful about joining lobbies that are "preparing for flight" or joining parties of people playing birds. We are always happy to have another player! 4. Ask questions I can't stress enough that the community makes this game awesome. If you are in a match and you don't know what the objective is, just ask. If you don't know the sensitivity for the Hurricane and you keep stalling, ask! If you pop into a lobby feel free to just say "what are we doing?" in case folks are setting up a period match or a Axis Vs Allies or something. We're a chatty bunch and we all know the game is more fun when everyone is on the same page and flying well. GT: Ninja Slothboy |
you wont have a problem getting anyone to teach you. we often have free flights....no shooting...you fly around and land where you want just generally screw off. if you want ask someone and they will do a 1 on 1 free flight with you until you get comfortable. if i am on let me know. we can play a slow version of follow the leader and you and pump rounds into me. if you played video games before you will catch on quickly. the game does have a few quirks and your connection speed is important....you will do well. enjoy!
