very nice mate, love the skins thank you :)
|
Fantastic skins. They are so beautiful. These skins really enriches the game.
Salute |
Two more...
Two more today...
Horst Tietzens Black 1 was a bit of a nightmare with that wingcamo as all control surfaces are mapped so that the textures aren't lined up in the skin... II./JG51 sure did their own thing both colorwise and marking wise. http://www.cptfarrels.com/Prevs/1106...etzen_JG51.jpg White 9 is a very typical 7./JG2 machine with the white spinner cap and the thumb and hat emblem. http://www.cptfarrels.com/Prevs/1106...hite-9_JG2.jpg |
Loverly
|
Bloody marvelous, outstanding work.
Damn it I am now spoiled for choice. Try and get some more JG52 skins please ;), Graf Krupinski would be nice but i have only being able to find 109 F and Gs in his markings. |
YUMMY:grin:
|
I bet they sound great too ;)
|
Hi Cpt Farrel,
I don't suppose you could do me a huge favour and have a go at this skin. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=22598 I had a stab at it but I am just unable to get it to anywhere near your level of perfection :(. Still trying though :). On another subject stumbled across this when trying to find some info about the aircraft in my pic. http://www.mission4today.com/index.p...details&id=305 But its not listed on your own site? |

Like I mentioned many times to people who were worried about the stock skins..The skinners will come threw. :)
|
S` Capt_Farrel, if you get a chance would you be interested in making a version of the below scheme? Flown by Feldwebel Robert Menge. ty

None of the requested 109's are actually E-3's so I think I'll wait with them until I'm done with all the E-3's I'm planning. By then we might even have E-1's and E-4's with a little luck...
|
Captain,
Any chance you will upload these magnificent skins for download in this thread like Kristoff does ? |

Hans-Karl Mayer skins
Today I've uploaded two skins depicting the same aircraft, the Bf109E-3 flown by Hans-Karl Mayer of I./JG53. First versions is from October 1940 when the the aircraft still had the red ring around the nose, then the second version depicts the aircraft in November 1940 when the Ace of Spades emblem had been reapplied. Gone were also the dark colored exhaust shields and much of the mottling seems to have faded due to cleaning and polishing.

, Just gorgeous, thank you.
|
Great skins. Thank you again for such nice work.
|
B-E-A-utiful Cpt-Farrel.. Do you use colour profiles as reference or black & White photos?
Are you planning any more skins from JG 53? |
Quote:
I use photos as my primary reference. Profiles can be helpful but I wouldn't want to make a skin based on a profile alone unless there was a clear written description by the author laying out the reasons for the choice of colors, markings etc. There's just too many profiles out there with various errors that have crept in for various reasons, even from the greatest artists. |
Two more today
Now here's two new skins for today including one with the Tatzelwurm of I./JG3. On this aircraft it was only carried on the left hand side.

Again, beautiful work mate :)
|
There coming thick and fast now :)
Lovely job mate,thanks. Cheese |
Seriously ... Maddox Games should ask you to do all the new defaults for at least the 109s. But you know that. ;)
|
Cheers mate! And YOU know how much I love doing generic skins ;)
|
Superb work Cpt,absolutley beautiful:grin:

Franz Von Werra's Bf109E
Hi Capt,I know you are a busy man,but would you consider doing 'Franz Von Werra's Bf109E when you can? This is a real favourite of mine so I have uploaded a few pics to help,no rush, and only if you can, just think your Bf109's are tops mate.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/840/werra1.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/werra2.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...0of20von2.jpg/ |
Thank you mate, nice skins indeed and everytime surprising me.
Fantastic job. Really love them:-P |

I think CptFarrel will make it when the E-4 is available. I read somewhere that there are many E-3 skins to do. If i am wrong forgive me!!! |
Great job, Cpt Farrel!
(Not yet a Major? You well deserve it ;)) |
You're correct that I'm waiting for the E-4 and E-1 to be released before doing skins for them. There's plenty of E-3's left that might have been overlooked otherwise.

Here's a couple more. The JG3 machine is almost outside the scope of this sim but I wanted to do that nice RLM70/71 upper camo... Bennemann's Black 5 on the other hand fits the bill well as it was flown at the height of the battle in late August. Friendly fire was obviously a concern in I./JG52 :)

As alway, top artwork, cant get enough.
Brilliant and amazing:-P PS: PLEASE DONT STOP |
Top skins again Capt............keep 'em coming;)
Where can we download these wonders from Capt.there does'nt seem to be a link on your website,or am I missing something? |
Sorry,is it me or has the download link for the Capt's skins on his website been taken off?

Quote:
Hi Pilor Officer, no they are working well. When on main page, klick on Skins for CLOD, then at the left side you see Bf109E-3, klick it and there you see those beautiful skins. Klick on the aircraft and download begins. LC |

Thanks guys I really appreciate your help, believe me I'm not being stupid here,I am not getting what you have,I certainly don't have those two rows of links,I only have one line of links and the mainpage link under that.
You must think I've lost the plot, lol. It must be my pc,I have downloaded skins from the Capts website before so it can only be a firewall or something,I'll keep on checking my pc. |
Your not zoomed in on your browser or something? What browser are you using? , tried Chrome? Firefox? etc
|
Three new ones today, two of those are from JG26 which must have had a larger number of E-3's than any other unit - or perhaps they've only managed to end up in lots of more photos! :) The third machine is from JG51 and was flown by a pilot named Arthur Haase, Haase means hare in German so the side of the aircraft had a very cool personal marking depicting a hare with binoculars and a shotgun. I really spent time on that marking and it turned out very nice I must say... ;)

Yellow 3 is beautiful mate
|
Thank you so much, brilliant as usual.
|
What a nice collection you have made. Works of art.
|
Thanks! I really appreciate all your kind words! Here's two more - these beeing E-3B's i.e. Jabos. They've got their own section now. I discovered that my first version of Hans-Karl Mayers E-3 was used as a Jabo in October 1940 so I've moved that version (as seen below) to the E-3B section and changed the color of the spinner, I discovered that it was RLM70 during the Jabo days of October.
http://www.cptfarrels.com/Prevs/1106...Mayer_JG53.jpg The second skin I hope will lead to discussion! It's the yellow 1 flown by Walter Rupp when he had to bellyland at Manston on October 17:th. It is depicted in the Jagdwaffe series with a yellow nose covering not only the enginecowling but the panels behind with the supercharger intake as well as the panel in front of the windscreen. I've previously done a skin for IL-2 1946 like that. Looking at the pictures though I came to realise that with those spots around the red band not to mention the dark paint on the top of the cowling, it would have been some very strange wear and tear that would have made a yellow nose look like that. Not to mention that no other JG53 aircraft has ever been found with the yellow on the nose extending that far back. Belive it or not, this is my take! :) http://www.cptfarrels.com/Prevs/1106..._Rupp_JG53.jpg |
I haven't found any good references for any JG27 Bf109E-3's. Once I've finished the planned E-3's I'll be moving on to E-1's and I bet I'll find some JG27 skins then. Progress might be a little slow during summer though...
|
What an invasion of skins. Brilliant.
Thank you very much Cpt |
Stunning work Capt. and I finally got into your website through my other pc,for some reason my other pc does'nt show the same mainpage on your website as my other one does,Shado was right I've got some sort of browser problem with it.
Anyway that's my problem not yours, love the new Bf109E-3B's.;) |
Ahh mate glad you got it sorted:cool:
|
Hehe, total madness mate,I can't believe one pc gives me a different look on a website.Hey Shado how's ya skins progressing, still working on em?

"HAASE" I love it. |
Stunning eh?, it just amazes me the level of detail and the time he's taken on the skins
|
Yes. I agree. I always knew the skinners would come through.
|
Beautiful
|
Beautiful skins, Cap'n. As always.
Many thanks. |
OMG these are awesome skins...downloading (if I can) now!:grin::grin:
|
I tootk the liberty of downloading some of your skins last night, had to download 7zip as well.
Wonderful work, it's amazing how much richer the sim has already gotten with the semi-dynamic campaingn by the enlightened florist and these superb skins, you guys really make the game so much more enjoyable. Keep up the most exellent work.:-D |
Install of the skins is amazingly easy..seems if I remember correctly it was a bit more difficult for the original IL-2? The skins are just fantastic..and had a whole new dimension to the game...they are just beautiful...and its nice to see the historical tail markings..yes.that awful word.."swastikas" on the planes as they should be...I understand that this "offends" some people...I'd say..get over it..its history....and it "offends" me that any toymaker/model producer cow tows to this nonesense.
|
Awsome work and thank you very, very much for all that you do for the community!
|
I think he mentioned some time back that he was awaiting the arrival of the Bf109E-4 before doing anymore skins, but I could be wrong.
|
I'll be back at work on August 15:th and some time after that I'll be back with more skins. I've still got some Bf109E-3's that I want to do and then there's many E-1's waiting as well. I can't promise when the next skin will
be released though as I've often got my hands full at work for the first weeks back from my vacation. I have collected some good references during these weeks though so I haven't been totally idle. :) |
your skins are worth waiting for. good thngs come to those who wait.
|
Cpt_Farrel i aint seen you around in ages :) i see the old masters are coming out of the woodwork, excellent work. :)
|
Beautiful skins!
|
Wow, there goes all the room on my hard drive :o
These are really cool. Is there any chance you could do a desert skin? |
Hi,
Thanks for the time you take to produce some wonderful skins for the 109 & making them available to us. I've downloaded a couple of them, but I seem to have a problem. Whatever skin I use I get the base skin showing through, ie. I have 2 sets of decals on one aircraft. What have I done wrong? I've downloaded a couple of 110 skins produced by Graff & they work no problem. Thanks for any help/advice offered |

Now I can enjoy the 109 skins |
Cpt_Farrel, thank you so much for those gorgeous 109 skins!
CoD is a great Sim (besides the performance problems and the bugs), but before I stumbled across your skins, the whole thing just didn't look and feel right. Since we don't have a Fw-190 (yet, I hope), I fly the Me-109 99% of the time and I didn't make one screenshot, before I found your skins. Because no matter how beautiful the model is, it just wouldn't do it for me, without the correct historical markings! Now with your skins, the screenshot key is on fire! The only problem that I have with your skins is that even though you made so many already, I would like to have more and more and more and more...! Again, THANK YOU so much, m8! |
These are superb, thank you Captain!

Perfect would be if they'd also provide a source for their request if it's historic or a scribble or detailed desciption if it's fictional. |
No vacations for you! Only soup and skins.
|
YES, some very nice E-4 skins needed. My Clod is stuttering without your skins.
I need a Bf 109E-4 skin patch so i can iron them out ;-) S! |
Extremely nice work on these skins... Thank's!
|
WARNING Cpt Farrel is official AWOL.
If you happen to see him in public do not try to capture him as he is likely to be armed with a paint brush, please phone the authority's of his whereabouts so he can be returned to the TTOG (Too Talented for your Own Good) department... where he will remain incarcerated for the foreseeable future i.e. until his death or he has completed all known 109 and 190 paint schemes. Thank you! |

Trying to lift the AWOL threat... :)
Just to let you all know, today I fired up CoD for the first time in a long while to check out a skin. Before I went on vactaion I started a new skin which is almost done. It's an E-3 and there'll be E-4's to follow. I might wait for the next official patch though as I want to see the result of the latest engine color tunings before releasing anything more.
