4th June- Not so historically correct recreation

It’s July 16th 1945 and the allied leaders meet at the Pottsdam conference to discuss how to administer the defeated Germany. In attendance are Joseph Stalin, Harry Truman, Winston Churchill and Prime Minister elect Clement Attlee. Such meeting of the heads of states are rare to say the least and the event is well publicised.
Unbeknown to the allies a small cell from KG200 is still active and operating from a remote forest in southern Germany. KG200 has a small amount of (allied) aircraft still at its disposal and has come up with a plan to assassinate these world leaders in one raid. The plan is for a lone bomber to destroy the palace where the conference is taking place. The KG200 plan is to fly an allied bomber to Pottsdam and affect a mission thereby destroying the palace and the leaders therein. They also plan a possible diversionary decoy to further thwart the allies in their attempts to locate and destroy the rogue elements of KG200.
The allies have a strong presence of all types of aircraft stationed in and around Berlin and as such do not consider any potential threat as plausible or real. In addition they also have access to captured German aircraft.

What I suggest is a game of hide and seek. A lone Bomber (perhaps 2 to add decoy potential) along with a single escort attempt to fly across Germany to pottsdam and crash into the palace. The choice of route is entirely up to the pilots. The allies stationed at Templehoff receive notification that an unknown aircraft has entered German airspace and then have to try and find the bomber before it carries out its mission. Plan is for allied to head toTemplehoff, bomber to head to wherever on the eastern edge of the map. Upon reaching the edge notification is sent to the allies and the game begins. Game ends when bomber is destroyed or when allies run out of pilots (although no issue with destroyed pilots having as second chance providing they do a ‘touch’ ground at templehoff before returning into the game.

Anyone who wants to know more give myself or McQ a shout. We'll do it in sim using the Berlin using the strike map (thereby at least trying to negate the awacs style map) I'll post more details here nearer the time but just want to gauge interest. The joy of this is that you will not be limited to any particular year or 'theatre' aircraft and basically fly what you wish. Please state a preference as to whether you would prefer to hide or seek and what aircraft you'd prefer to use.

Confirmed so far:
Gilly
McQ

I like the gameplan Gilly, and think I'll just sign in as bomberescort if that's okay with you.
Might be an idea to schedule take-off a bit late. Theres a cpl of footballmatches going on that evening.

Gilly 05-19-2011 10:49 AM

Cool by me mate, plus it enables the guys across the pond more flexibility if we do it a little later than 10.

themeistor1 05-19-2011 05:44 PM

count me in Gilly sounds like fun,

McQ59 05-19-2011 06:36 PM

Brilliant meistor.

JOED70 05-19-2011 08:30 PM

I gladly show as well . like the idea of the touch and go at tempelhof to re enter match bomber escort should be have a couple of reincarnations as well perhaps having a limited amount of lives ie 2 or 3 might be good. Its hard to find a good balance . Just my thoughts, what say you?

Hicks-81 05-19-2011 08:38 PM

You can count with me.

What game mode?

McQ59 05-19-2011 09:05 PM

Good to see you guys.

Check this out guys.

scottyvt4 05-23-2011 07:51 PM

put me down as a reservist ........... as not a massive fan of sim!!

Hicks-81 05-26-2011 06:29 PM

I think playing with an Il-4 of the KG200. Or Does it have to be a Flying Fortress?

McQ59 05-26-2011 06:37 PM

IL-4 is a bird not often spotted in the BoP-sky. I'd say that is cool Hicks, but let's have Gen. Gilly on the radio...

JOED70 05-26-2011 08:47 PM

I am a fan of the obscure aircraft choice might have to test to see if Il4 or B17 causes a huge unblance . Due to fact IL4 like Mcq pointed out is seldom seen . But yes that is best left to Sir Gil to decide

Gilly 05-26-2011 10:05 PM

No issues on my part an IL4 is a top idea!! As far as I'm concerned it's anything goes!!!

JOED70 05-27-2011 06:45 PM

After testing an Il4 today I would not recomend it as the maurader aircraft.

Which would you recommend?

It is for don´t use the B17. It is too common.

Gilly 06-02-2011 02:37 PM

As there's only 5 recruits so far I'm wondering whether it's going to be worth trying this? I've done some recon and have recon pictures showing the location of the Cecilienhof (site of conference) as well as the baroque palace (possible secondary target) but don't wish to waste time and effort if it's a no goer. Thoughts welcome

KAV 06-02-2011 03:47 PM

Missed this one.
Please sign me up if its gonna happen, sounds good.

McKinneyJD 06-02-2011 04:18 PM

I'm in.

Gilly 06-02-2011 06:14 PM

Wahey 2 more. Thanks JD, thanks Kav.
I'll post intel tomorrow in the hope we may get a few more.....

Hicks-81 06-02-2011 08:11 PM

Rest assured its not a problem you always grasped the plan when you've previously joined the historic games.
As for the polish, we love 'em....

Akula 06-03-2011 03:27 AM

I'd like to join, too. Whichever team that needs an extra person, i can go with.

I'll use the P-51 D5.

Gilly 06-03-2011 09:00 AM

Latest recon photos showing position of Cecilienhof....

The baroque palace to the south of the town is also considered as a secondary target as this is where we suspect several leaders and senior figures may be residing.

Brilliant intel Gilly.
Would it be possibel to schedule the mission to let's say about 12 pm. gmt? There's a cpl of footballmatches going on. My team is down to a good beating in Lisboa I guess...

I've no probs with whatever time. I guess later is better for the guys stateside?
May be a 'little' messy personally from a brain perspective by then but it's a big sky so there's plenty of room....!!

McQ59 06-03-2011 11:45 AM

Brilliantly put and considered Gilly.
Personally I expect it won't be any different brainwise than usually...
Good thing the targets are located fairly close ;-)

StiC 06-03-2011 12:29 PM

Is there room for one more? Now that it looks like a midnight match I might be able to join up. I don't know how serious you guys are, keep in mind that I have very little sim experience online. I'll let you know for sure if I can play after I beg my wife to put the kids to bed by herself. She owes me one for last night.

Thanks

StiC

Hicks-81 06-03-2011 12:46 PM

Plan for the KG200 side is to make their way to the far east side of the map. Once there notify the allies at templehoff and then let the hunting begin....

McKinneyJD 06-03-2011 07:34 PM

Later the better for me time-wise, I'll be out on the boat all morning/afternoon. I'm going to give it my best to be back by 5ish GMT-6.

StiC 06-03-2011 08:47 PM

I got the all clear from the wife, just need a go/no go from you guys.

StiC

JOED70 06-03-2011 09:02 PM

What ever time works best for everyone is fine with me. I will be on early tommorow and will host sim matches on berlin map for any that would like to practice . Around 1400 Gmt . or perhaps befor depends on weather here.

McQ59 06-04-2011 08:56 AM

Hicks-81 06-04-2011 01:15 PM
