You've totally missed the point.
I never made DLLs for 2048/4096 skins, that was carsmaster's work.
What I did was writing Java Classes to support 24-bit custom bitmap skins instead of 8-bit indexed ones.
24 Bit skins work with 4.13.4, skins larger than 1024x1024 pixel don't because: - 4.13.4 target both off- and online environment, and 2048/4096 HD skins online are pretty useless with IL-2's current network skin distribution (which is built for purpose and makes much sense in that regard)
- There is no single set of 2048/4096 HD skin DLLs which works for each and every system out there (ask the BAT devs, they can tell stories about it)
- 2048/4096 HD skins are out of reach for DirectX / Intel HD graphics users
In order to keep custom skin check resource requirements within reasonable levels, TD decided to do a "valid skin" check based on the filesize, which is reasonable too.
Of course you can "fix" this by skipping that check and throwing a set of HD skin DLLs from carsmaster in.
That will work on certain systems, with certain skins, in certain environments under certain circumstances.
Too many "certain"s?
That's what separates a [think of something ... here] mod from a general patch release.
(...and I'm quite sure that the most important bugfix concerning skins in 4.13.4 is still completely unnoticed).
Best regards - Mike
