4.14?!?!

What's possibly in the pipeline for the next patch?

Nil 09-08-2016 11:08 PM

That is a good question!
I hope we will get the transports and transport objectives!

Treetop64 09-10-2016 05:42 PM

Are we really asking for a 4.14?

Is 4.13 not enough?

I'd feel guilty asking for more patches at this point.

Gawd...

Nil 09-10-2016 05:46 PM

There is always something to improve!
Personaly I love to fly transports, and I see that some are done!
It is my dream to fly transport in il2 since... more than 10 years

Dedalos team know how to accomplish dreams;)

Sita 09-10-2016 06:20 PM

At first i want say Thank you Genlemens for you Requests!)

That mean that in Il21946 somebody still play, and for us is pleasure) ...

about new patch...

yep ... work in progress ... for now we have some volume of content and what it will be 4.13.3 or 4.14 for now we didn't decide yet

i wouldn't call any date for when it need wait ... but i can say that work already on good state ...

Sita
I can not express how much I am eager to test your transports! with some transport objectives (go from a to b) it is a dream for me!
lots of exciting mission avoiding dca, fighters....

really You guys make my dreams comes true, and yes, I still fly this sim, for me no sim can replace it yet.

Like a good old dc3: the only replacement for a dc3 is a dc3
(tweaked by daidalos team! ^^)

I wish the next patch containing transport and the po2 will be for the end of this year!

But, take your time, but please do it!

nic727 09-10-2016 11:57 PM

Would be nice to change the desktop icon shortcut to something related to 1946. The current one is the Pacific Fighter icon, but I found this great one.

Sita, your and the rest of TD's work IS GREATLY appreciated! I've been playing IL-2 since it first arrived almost and I will continue to do so for as long as I have a computer that can handle it! I've tried many other flight sims but always come back to IL-2 since it's unrivaled! The only other flight sims I hold as close to my heart is Rise of Flight and First Eagles 2 to fill my WWI needs!

I enjoy your work, TD, no question about it! And every patch or other update you guys do I look forward to download and install! And now with the news about the Channel map, the Bf-110, the U2, the transports and so on the future looks bright! No matter if the Channel map will be ready for the next update or if it lies further in the future it will be one of the ABSOLUTELY GREATEST additions to IL-2 you guys has ever made!

I give you my thanks for ALL your hard work, TD!!!

Nil 09-11-2016 03:37 PM

That is very well said Verdun1916

I am sure there are many other fans out there!

Sita 09-11-2016 03:54 PM

on behalf of the entire team I say thank you for such a good estimate of our work!)

HW3 09-11-2016 11:56 PM

I do not post much but, I just want to say I look on each patch as a gift. So I just want to say thank you team DT!

Nil 09-12-2016 04:25 AM

Well done HW3!

Daidados team has to be aware that a lot of players love their patchs!

I am sure that the majority do not know this forum and/or is silent.

major.kudo 09-12-2016 01:50 PM

4.14!!
A wonderful sound word.
I believe gun shooting of AI fighters would be realistic and sensible in the next update.

I'd like to chime in.

I love Il-2 Sturmovik and Team Daidalos' work lets it shine. Thanks to your combined efforts the program has never left my harddrive in all the time.

I am very fond about the way you incorporated the Hs-129 - to name the first thing in my mind. Looking forward to U-2 and transport planes now. Please give them some sample single missions, too.

(Is there still a night-fighter project with working radar?)

Again: Thank you Team Daidalos!

Yes Adorante!
You know what? I am sure that many players still play this sim.
FOr example, I know that the Chinese sim community is playing it at the news sims are not translated into Chinese yet, and they require good gear (pc specs)

I heard that during the Q & A session of Jason William who is working on the new IL2.

ilmavoimat 09-13-2016 11:09 PM

Totally agreed. Really looking forward to the Channel map and the Ju52 and C-47, Many, many thanks to TD for keeping the best WW2 sim going from strength to strength! Oh and BTW.........Ju88C-6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mmaruda 09-16-2016 08:59 PM

First of all, I'd like to say that I play practically every combat flight sim that is currently available and works on a modern system and... IL-2 1946 is still the greatest of them all and that is all thanks to TD!

As for a wishlist for the next patch... Who needs one? Seriously, I have been flying Battel of Stalingrad / Moscow lately and while the graphics and physics are better, the experience of flying proper missions cannot be matched here. There is only one thing I would like TD to cover: the sound. New sounds would really ramp up the immersion level. Other than that... Let me think, maybe some cockpit correction - for example the Mustang has its fuel lever to the off position - the plane would not fly at all like this, but those are minor things for geeks like me who bothered to read how the real thing worked.

I can not agree more.
The new IL2 is becoming very good and has a huge potentiel but it is far from replacing the original IL2 patched with love and dedication by DT.

That is why dear Sita I am supporting you guys as you noticed and I will continue to do my best.

Is there a 4.13.3 in the works?

Sita 09-20-2016 11:11 AM

yep ... from first day of release of 4.13.2 or even earlier ...

Nil 09-20-2016 12:38 PM

A question for you Sita:
Would it be possible to make the gunner always announce enemy presence even if there is no AI gunner in the plane?

Because, it is very convenient when they talk , they say "attention figthers 11 o clock" for example, but when we set all the gunners position to to manuel mode, they do not talk anymore.
Thank you!

Gunners in IL2 don't do a good job of calling out attacking aircraft "in real time".

It's also difficult to distinguish between what your gunners are telling you vs. what other pilots are talking about. It can be easy to confuse location of enemy aircraft relative to your formation vs. relative to your plane.

Ideally, intercom communication would somehow be distinguished from radio traffic, if only in text.

e.g.,

[Red Two] Bandits 5 O'Clock [relative to squadron formation]

[Tailgunner] Bandits 4 O'Clock [relative to your airplane]

Different altitudes for different flights in QMB. EG: Red Flight 1 at 3000m, then you can set RED flight 2 to fly at 4000m for top-cover.

Interesting how this thread has developed from a simple question to TD about their plans for 4.14 to a wishlist. :D

taly001 09-30-2016 01:50 PM

I would love to see a way to set default formation spacing in conf.ini

Its the most annoying thing in the game for me, Loosing wingmen or myself because they fly at 60m distance is very frustrating. Also some formation shapes seem to require more space than the default.

Tolwyn 09-30-2016 03:59 PM

I'd rather see that option in the mission file.

Adding a value directly after the formation variable, in meters.

[r0101]
Planes 4
Skill 1
Class air.A_20C
Fuel 100
weapons default
[r0101_Way]
NORMFLY 20434.23 23393.10 500.00 300.00 &0 F8 50
NORMFLY 33021.71 23491.19 500.00 300.00 &0

(50 being the new value).
Obviously, you'd have to be careful with this cause you might have values too small or oulandishly too large (not sure how that works).

But I think the mission file is where that should be, not conf.ini; as that would/might retro-actively affect older mission designs.

Of course I'll state the obvious:

Not likely going to happen since changing formation spread is right at your fingertips in the radio menu; although the flipside to that statement is that it won't help you if you are in the 2, 3, or 4 spot, so...

Quote:

Why not both :D

The radio menu to change formation spacing is clunky and sometimes I find the flight goes back to default spacing at waypoints. Also the change for each formation spacing step seems to be only 25m! Having a conf.ini value for flight spacing just simplifys things.

Ideally also a formation.ini file would let you set the formation shape and then the conf.ini adds another additive to it ie.

[Column]
0;0
0;-25
0;-50
0;-75
0;-100

I suspect that the default formations are all hard coded like that?

Quote:

If someone chooses to change default spacings in conf.ini its on their own head if it messes up old stuff.

Well wok seems go ahead well on the upcomming channel map. But what's the latest news on the content intended for the next update?

Will the Greif be ready to be included?
Will the C-47 and versions be intended for 4.14?
Will the Ju-52 be intended for 4.14?

Any other aircraft (AI or playable) that are intened to be included with 4.14?

Any new ground or sea units that are intended to be included in 4.14?

Any new maps intened for 4.14? I suspect the channel map will be intended for a later update.

Any news is usually good news! ;)

Damage model of the aircraft

Moin Sita/TD.

It would be nice if finally the damage model of the airplanes were reworked in collision in the air.
Countless times I had to experience when an enemy rammed or touched me, that my plane was damaged / destroyed and the opponent flew on as if nothing had happened.

Collisions damage should be based on the relative mass and speed of the planes involved - if it isn't already. Even so, a mid-air collision is going to be very bad for both planes involved.

Whether or not a plane survives a mid-air depends on the parts that hit. as well as forces involved, and the pilot's ability to recover from the collision. If you trade a propeller, landing gear, or vertical stabilizer for a wing, then you can sometimes get a kill from a mid-air collision while still having a plane that's in good enough shape that you can crash land or bail out.

The problem with collision modelling is IMHO that all colliding objects are treated as rigid and only the first colliding objects are destroyed, if no other objects touch each other. That way you get strange results like trading off a wing against a aileron or rudder. Or even worse....

KG26_Alpha 10-08-2016 10:17 PM

Damage modelling used to be "eye for an eye" where you could hit another aircraft Taran style or chew them up with the prop and a few other close up events.

Collision damage was changed as Dog Fight servers complained of aircraft running out of ammo and deliberately ramming, to them deemed as "unfair".

Personally for me it ruined one of the best parts of the game and now you can be awarded -400 points for such an event happening you fault or not.

Tolwyn 10-10-2016 03:11 PM

I was just thinking of this the other day as I was making an IL2 mission.

Do you think it's possible to get the taran style back into the sim?

Janosch 10-10-2016 06:53 PM

Luckily, players' or team score has no function. So, even if it's distributed unfairly it can be simply shrugged off with a shrug. A computer is no king Solomon. In the case of friendly collisions, sometimes the server script chews off a player that's completely innocent! I once landed my FM-2 in the way of a friendly F4U that was taking off. I thought that by applying chocks, there could be no collision... and maybe I couldn't even do that in time. He snapped my wingtip off, but himself got no visible damage, and the server berated him instead of me :)

optio 10-11-2016 12:19 PM

I'm hoping that 4.14 will update the DGEN campaigns. Quite a number of new maps and planes were added over the past several years, and yet they are not usable for DGEN.

I remember that DGEN used to be hard-coded, but didn't someone get the source code and made it editable?

I agree! It would be very nice if the new aircraft added over the last years would be added to the DGEN-Campaigns.

If this is true, it's sad that one segment of the community was able to get the game changed in a potentially unrealistic fashion.

It seems like it would have been simpler and fairer to just give server operators and single players the option to "disable realistic collisions." There could be three options - planes are insubstantial with respect to each other (but not ground objects or the ground), collisions automatically destroy both planes, or the current system where planes are very likely to be fatally damaged.

You may be thinking of Asuras DGen mod -here is the thread for that:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=30765

and my personal recommendation is use DCG, it takes a little time to get used to, but then it is great. And you can design your own campaigns if you want to, and that is on every available map.

I second this.

Though there is more to learn with it, DCG is far more flexible and much more reliable than Asura's DGen.

There are lot's of speculation over att mission4today about what 4.14 will contain.

Is it to early to ask for a readme or a list of what you guys have intended to include in 4.14?

I hope not. Not all are on DX11, or even 10 for that matter.

What are you looking for with a port?
Are you having issues with DirectX in the game?

The sim is best with OpenGL.

Yeah, a system more like what Aces Over Europe had back in the 1990s would've been great. There was actually more information called out originally (time to target etc.) as well as the ability for gunners to return fire on ground targets back in the original Il-2 - but somehow it got broken.

I've kindof wished for an ability to get front-gunners to strafe ground targets now that we have the SB-2 and the two-front gunner equipped He-111s (both of which have more firepower forward and appear intended to suppress or attack ground targets on occasion).

Avimimus 12-04-2016 04:13 AM

If I were to ask a question:

Has any progress been made incorporating ZloyPetrushkO's anti-aircraft gun suppression mod? It worked very well but is no longer compatible with the new TD patches.

Also, the Pe-3 fixed rear gun can't be fired by the player like the He-111 now can (is there any address for submitting minor issues like that)?

Our squad, the Blackbirds, have been flying 4.12.2 HSFX v 7.0.3 for years and although we've tried all the new Il-2 games (COD etc) we still love flying the original.

Sita, we did download the 4.13 version and it has some great features but we don't fly it much because so many of our favourite planes are missing.

We'd love to see 4.14 but only if it has all our planes back and we'd all salivate over a Lancaster LOL

Those tanks are very nice! but I would prefer to call this update the 4.14 instead of the 4.13.3
Because this will be a HUGE update! not just fixes.
