Help please - TrackIR 2 in Windows 7 x64
Hi All
I'm getting back into simming after recently purchasing this game, and am enjoying it immensely. I dug out of the back of my cupboards my old TrackIR 2 device, which I remember being a fantastic aid to flying, especially online. In the intervening years my machine has been periodically upgraded to become, eventually, an entirely new machine running Win 7 64-bit. Given I already own the hardware (and am quite skint) I've been quite keen to make this work with the new operating system. Reading various threads I've found the TrackIR software version 4.1.029 beta 4 had a working driver for TrackIR2 on 64 bit systems, which could be coupled with the v3 software interface to have a functioning mash-up. However newer versions, even the final v4 software, don't have this functionality. I haven't been able to find any copies of the 4.1.029 beta 4 software on the internet. I was wondering, given the popularity of the TrackIR system for fellow simmers, if anyone had encountered and ultimately solved this issue? Thanks in advance! RP |

I think I have the files on my HD, I believe the 4.0.30 beta has that driver as well. I had the same problem until I found out the version I have is not a 2 but a 1 :(
So, send me a PM with your email and I'll send two packages to you. |
Thanks Azimech, I've PMd you. Also I'll give the freetrack suggestion by sigur_ros a try. I'll post back here tomorrow to report on any success/failure.
Thanks again RP |
Excellent, got it working last night!
I managed to find a copy of TrackIR software 4.1.028 on the internet, which contains a 64 bit trackIR 2 driver. 4.1.038 on the trackIR website doesn't contain a trackIR 2 driver. One needs to disable driver signing in Windows 7 for it to work, and install and use the interface from 3.13, so a bit of fiddling around but I'm chuffed my old hardware can still be used! If anyone needs a copy of the 4.1.028 software and more detailed instructions just let me know! |
FYI guys, if you like Track IR 1 and 2, grab a Track IR 4 or 5 when the budget allows.. head and shoulders better than what you are using..
Also, unplug the TrackIR 1 and 2 when not using it or it will shorten the life span.. those get HOT.. |
Can anyone confirm that TrackIR 2 works in Cliffs of Dover? I'm currently running Windows XP so driver is no problem at the moment.
PS: rpkiller pls check your PM. /KC |

Sorry I can't help much as I have not used a TiR2 for a while and didn't realise it doesn't work easily with W7. |
You can find NaturalPoint 4.1.028 drivers for TIR2 - as mentioned above - here:
