Very Cool, Nerd Moment!
Flying over London for the first time ever in real life en route to Budapest.
Take a look from the plane. http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/picture...&pictureid=691 and now I tried to find that exact spot in the game!!! http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/picture...&pictureid=692 Notice the river and the ship ports! Very sweet. Love it, great job Oleg and Luthier! |
oh darn.
This is color-saturation-green-fields-of-doom-the-world-has-less-colour-and-you-know-it-activist bait! *runs and hides* |

Hehe i have this kind of moments every time overfly a WW2 landmark, not always taking pictures but remembering how i overflew this or that place with my Yak, 109 or P47 in game
I usually don't share my thoughts not to look stupid  |

Hey, just in case you thought I was flaming I'm not. You'd be amazed what an innocent thread like the one you just posted could become. It would be a 148 page flamewar about colorblindness and various photos and screenshots of everybodys personal favourite spot in england in various weather conditions all claiming their version is best. On the topic and a more serious note, the thames and surroundings look super-accurate geographically and to correct scale. Now I'm seriously out of here.... I really ment it when I said this is bait for all kinds of colourful and colourless beings :p *dives back into the foxhole* |

notice the clear, smog-less sky from 1940
|

I was just about to mention smog! I hadn't even thought of the effect smog can have on looking through the atmosphere. I wonder if it would have been any better/worse in 1940 |
worse due to everyone burning coal ect
|
The color of the river on the first picture is definitively over-modelled and completely unrealistic....
Not sure yet if it is a programming error or a GPU drivers error though... (just joking) |
Your right OP it is a bit nerdy but cool never the less..looks pretty accurate
|
Sorry guys, i took that out of context and now realized it was a joke. My apologies , I hope you guys can accept!

so here is my question. Why do a crap ton of sims make it look anything BUT something similar to what the OP posted? I mean WoP has some green monstor tint, CoD is liek Im flying around on acid, and 1946 well they jsut didnt have the power back then. but even FSX and CFS make it look so cartoony. Im no programmer but wouldnt it take just some guy slooking at a picture or movie and then model it after that?
Again Im no programmer maybe someone can shed some light on the subject. (no pun intended) |

I was about to make a joke about that too, but really, I've spent months in the air but I am yet to see a dark blue river ;) The rivers/streams in CoD are actually one of my few complaints as I'm rather content otherwise. Especially at distance Kent can look like the Amazon delta... Fat rivers all over, and the dark blue color makes them even more pronounced. I am pretty sure this was not their intent but a side effect of not having finished the transparent water we have heard is in the pipeline! |
The biggest mistake in coloring we can all agree on is that the River Thames is NOT in any way a shade of blue, but more of a chocolate milk or pooh brown ;).
I spent 4 months working in London from Oct to end of Feb, apart from loving every second of that city, it was somewhat cool to fly the rout I walked to work in the sim. Would have been cooler if my frame rates were a little better, but that's on me and my machine. ;) |

It all makes sense now! Cheers! |
