Catalyst 11.5 and IL-2 1946 problem
Have somebody tried the catalyst 11.5 with IL-2 1946? I have an 6950 and with the latest drivers have very bad artifacts on the water near the land, flickering black boxes, with 11.4 it works ok.

I have the same problem with an 6950 too, the flickering and artifacts seem to dissapear if I disabled the AntiAliasing.
Im forcing 4xAA and 16xAnisotropic filter using an utility called RADEONPRO, it worked ok with 11.3 and 11.14, but with the latest 11.5a(hotfix) they seem to have broken something. For now I just disabled the AA waiting for a solution |

I've had a couple of bad freezes in IL-2 .. and Crysis, and some other games too with both 11.4 and 11.5 .. but it MIGHT have something to do with shader unlocking and overclocking the crap out of the 6950 ;) .. Shall go back to factory bios and drop the clocks to see if it does it then. -Untamo |

Same boat as "albx", only BIOS modded but only the shaders unlock applied, didnt touch the core and memory clock (just tried at first with overclocked settings some tests and all worked ok, but Im not so sure the memory can take it for long). Finished CRISIS 2 and PORTAL 2 without issues.
Il-2 1946 freezed on my (after hours online) a couple of times, but I think its only because this game is more NVIDIA friendly and after 10 years the ATI cards changed more than the competition in software drivers. |
when i get a new computer I will probably dump ati after 10 years... they just don't seem to do as well with flight sims as nvidia does... just very tired of the battle to get it all running good..
and yes, my computer is getting very outdated,, runs il-2 good, black shark maxed and ok, but not great.. but forget running cod... |

Doing that increases voltage unknowingly to the bios causing alot of overclockers problems and binning their cards FYI |

Yeah, no 6970 bios on my card, don't want to fry it with too high volts. Just unlocking the shaders on the original bios with RBE and OC:ing with the CCC thingie.

I have the same issues with 11.5 and a 6950. Flickering rivers and lakes.
Have you resplved the problem, or did you fall ack to 11.4 as it seems like it worked with that? |
As a temporary fix I just copied in IL-2 folder the atioglxx.dll from 11.4, so I can activate the AA in the Catalyst control panel.

Cat 11.5 has a hotfix... so check to make sure .. and btw,, whenever I tried the unlock O'C, my games would freeze..
so I just unlock and leave settings at stock.. |

Error with 11.6 when AA activated.
Same here.
HD6970 when AA activated mayor graphic errors that disappear as soon as AA is deactivated or switch to application control. No problem with 11.5 driver version. Pleeeease avoid smart replies... ;) I already have enough broken edges with CloD Salutes. |
I have a HD6850 and didn't have the problem with the 11.5's but I do with the 11.6's. I quess I either turn off AA or revert to the 11.5's....

Same problem since 11.5, ATI 6950 with AA enabled graphics artifacts around shadows, objects, cockpits part, etc.
Take this file "atioglxx.dll" from the CATALYST 11.4 driver package and put it on the "Il-2 1946" main folder. Problem solved |

I currenlty use a Radeion 4870x2, Win7 64 Bit, and I have tried the fix listed here with little or know success. I have tried different combinations of drivers while using the atioglxx.dl_ files again with limited or no success. What it has come down to is turning of Hardware Shaders=0 and everything but the water looks good. If I turn on Hardware Shaders=1 the game crashes.
If anyone has any other ideas to try in the short term I would appreciate hearing them. I will buy a new v-card in the near future and hopefully I will not have any further issues. |

I have the same problem with 12.1 Ati drivers using AA. The final solution to use AA it's to play in directx mode without vsync...bad solution due to tearing, but good AA mode with excelent framerate without somes efects (whater, for example). I will try to use atioglxx.dll instead off opengl32.dll. Question, where this "opengl32.dll" file, ¿inside \Il2 1946 folder? (I can confirm "no") May be the problems it's "opengl32.dll" vs "new ati drivers" ¿It's possible? |
Solved as follow: (with 12.1 Ati drivers)
- Search in "C:\" next files : atioglxx.dll and atio6gxx.dll. Copy and paste into Il2 directory. - Take config.ini and change next section as follow: ORIGINAL: [GLPROVIDER] GL=Opengl32.dll [GLPROVIDERS] Open GL=opengl32.dll DirectX=dx8wrap.dll MODIFICATED: [GLPROVIDER] GL=Opengl32.dll [GLPROVIDERS] Open GL= atioglxx.dll or atio6gxx.dll (try first atio6gxx.dll) DirectX=dx8wrap.dll Save config.ini and exit. And use Opengl with AA in Il2 without problems. |
You mean ati06axx.dll? Can't find the ati06gxx.dll anywhere, and it's not in the driver packaging... In any case, neither of these work for me (12.1 or 12.2, on 6970) - back to 11.4 atioglxx.dll.

With HD5XXX work fine file "atio6gxx.dll" and with HD6xxx work fine file "atioglxx.dll". (checked)
About ¿where this file "atio6gxx.dll"? ....search "atio6gxx.dl_" and do next procedure: - Copy "atio6gxx.dl_" to C:\ - Run CMD Into CMD ->C:\ + enter ->expand atio6gxx.dl_ atio6gxx.dll + enter - From Windows, Copy c:\atio6gxx.dll to your Il2 folder. Try the config.ini changes with one dll or the other. (RMK: In my case work fine "atio6gxx.dll" extracted from 12.2 Ati drivers, but I can use too atioglxx.dll, but in this case extracted only from 11.5 Ati Drivers) Sry 4myEnglish ;) |
