Proof that game runs OK on DUAL CORE!
Smooth & good FPS, (even on my lowly system - Surprised there, especially as I have a dual CPU & NOT a quad!!). Sure there are odd bugs mainly sound & radio issues....
One weird thing in the Allies campaign on ther 8th mission where you have to join the Spitfires @ Manston. I spot some 109's but when I engage my guns will not fire?? Overall much better than previous Beta patch though. Model Detail - High Buildings Detail - Very Low Land Detail - Medium Forests - Low Visual Effects - Medium Texture Quality - High Damage Decal - Medium Buildings Amount - Low Land Shading - Low Grass - Off Shadows - Off :( Roads - On 2 x AA, 1280 x 768, SSAO OFF. |

Yep, dual cores do fine.
|
yup, dual cores handling it nicely :) u got a very similar system to mine, this is how im running it:
Model Detail - High Buildings Detail - High Land Detail - Low Forests - Very High Visual Effects - High Texture Quality - Original Damage Decal - High Buildings Amount - Unlimited Land Shading - Low Grass - Off Shadows - Off Roads - On AA Off, 1650 x 1080, SSAO OFF, Vsync On. It did although run alot better with the last beta patch, i was also able to have shadows on. I still can now, but makes the new stutters alot more noticable. i Love it :D |
Model Detail - High
Buildings Detail - Low Land Detail - Low Forests - Low Visual Effects - High Texture Quality - High Damage Decal - High Buildings Amount - Low Land Shading - Medium Grass - Off Shadows - Off Roads - On 1600 x 900 1x AA runs well over land only time i get stutters are on headons and when i fire my guns first time in mission You can see my rig is quite old barely above minimum but it can handle small scale fights up to 10 planes without a problem |
Yes, it does work in dual Cores. My rig is:
Intel CoreDuo E6550 Conroe 2.33 GHz Motherboard Gigabyte P35-DS3L LGA775 4 GB RAM DDR2 1066 MHZ EVGA Nvidia GTX580 1.5 GB VRAM DDR5 Drivers 266.58, DirectX 11 Audigy 2 ZS Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits SP1 Monitor HP 2510i 25" Track IR 4 Joystick Saitek X52 Pedals CH Definitively this Sim at the moment relies more in graphic power than in pure CPU power. I have moved from an old Nvidia EN8600GT (game unplayable) to a GTX 580 and with the same CPU/MoBo/RAM/peripherals now I get in "Thr Black Death" Track 35/74/0 (Average/Max/Min, MIN happens while loading textures for 2" at the beginning of the track) with these settings in game: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...D25-4-2011.jpg And here in Nvidia Control Panel: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...a25-4-2011.jpg What I have done is to follow all kind of advices and optimization tutorials in this forum and now I can get a decent gameplay, even flying online, although is not totally optimized yet. Optimization process must start by the BIOS, and run along memory, OS, graphics settings and the game itself. I believe that, once in the future all the now blocked features of the Sim (real weather specially but and many other) have been released, CPU power will become more important, and the time to change MoBo/CPU/RAM will arrive. I post this in order to help other people to improve, like other posters have helped to me these last weeks. |

I agree with your second point, but again it all depends how the program utilises the cores... |
All setting on High, nothing turned off.. smooth gameplay, good fps (30-70).. dual core never gets above 70% load.

Same here, very happy owner of a Min specs Duel Core E5400 - Win7/64 - 4Gb - GTS250 (512mb).
I have Grass On as the visuals are pretty bland set to 'Off' for Start missions and avg 42 fps with little or no impact on fps when I am in the air. 1280 x 768 60Hz Nvidia Pre render 0 frames AA X2 Vsync enabled SSAO Off Clouds Off Model Detail - High Buildings Detail - Med Land Detail - Med Forests - Off Visual Effects - High Texture Quality - Med Damage Decal - High Buildings Amount - Low Land Shading - Medium Grass - On Shadows - Off Roads - Off Will probably get a GTX560Ti as my first upgrade option for future proofing any hardware ug's. |
Why surprised? Well known by now it is not multicore and uses only single core.
|
It's not so much about 'suprise', I think this thread mayhelp those running min specs machines, having problems and simply being told that its all down to their aging/weak hardware. There may be issues but not necessarily that their machine is just not up to anything other than cranking all settings to low or off. There will come a time when we will probably have to upgrade for sure.

Same boat.
Core 2 DUO E7300@2,67GHZ 4 GB DDR-2 800MHZ Geforce 250 GT 1 GB Due old CRT monitor limited to 1024x768 - 85 HZ (or 1280x1012 60 HZ). :( SSAO Off Nvidia Pre render 0 frames AA X2 Vsync enabled Model Detail - High Buildings Detail - Med Land Detail - Low Forests - Very Low Visual Effects - High Texture Quality - High Damage Decal - Medium Buildings Amount - Low Land Shading - Low Grass - Off Shadows - Off Roads - On FPS Counter = OFF <<<<< :) And no low level flys over London - the game objetive is other. Playable and enjoyable game. The only major problem (appart all know bugs) is when very next to enemy bombers my guns sometimes "freeze" or only fire in short burst. Sokol1 |

Fail thread - graphics settings are much more GPU dependant than CPU. While it may run on a dual core, that doesnt mean a dual core is good for the game, because it handicaps you when you start adding more aircraft etc.
So changing graphics settings is a bad/invalid way to test because its very much GPU and ram/vram dependant. |

I have an old 790i-based, E8500 dual-core with GTX-480, 8G RAM. It's not stable with any overclock (790 doesn't like 8G), so CPU at stock numbers, but RAM slowed down. (I can play with 3.7-4.2G CPU speeds, but get CTDs).
Anyway, I've not played on line, but I get 30-70 in land battles with Campaign-level numbers (6 to 24 a/c in the air, buildings below), all settings maxed (but none to 2X AA) driving 1920-1080 40-in TV. Over big cities, not as playable if my altitude is too low. In most cases, it's very playable. I'm only saying this to suggest that the code is quite a bit more efficient than in '46 (which I still play). My bro's 920 4-core is not nearly as happy, though he's still running a GTX-285. I have the strong impression that, when the weather etc is unlocked, my rig will not cope. But, the base code does seem to be thoughtfully made. I'm guessing that, when multi-core support improves, I'll get a small improvement, and my bro will stop snubbing the game. All guesses of course. I'm a convicted eye-candy junky and model/texture a bit. I'll never be particulary objective because my tactical/flying skills lead to one outcome: I'm the 1st guy shot down. I'm salivating over running around these believable airfields and running the tower, a/c maintenance, defenses, refueling/re-arming, and crash crew. Or, I'll gladly defend convoys from strafings. I might torque those who'd like every line of code to add to the flight/gunnery challenge, but I can dream :) |
Cazador, why did you set the number of prerendered frames to 0?
Just asking since I have been playing around with that as well. |
Hi guys, I want to pick up CoD when the price here in the US comes down a bit.
Can someone please tell me if I can run it OK at medium/low settings @ 1600-900 (my monitor's native res.) with the rig in my sig. Thanks! |
logan...I would think that it will run ok...
