IL2 Mod/Cheat/Exploit post
 

My feelings are very hazy. First the sound "mod", then the 6DOF "exploit", and now the utilities to "make it yourself" are all over internet.

I wonder if this is going to be something like the Falcon 4.0 project. New community maps, planes, sounds, etc... Or the oposite, the end of competitive and realistic online competitions like Air War 2.

If we have SOW: BOB i think there is no problem. But i do play everyday AW2. If only they get to break the checkruntime=2, we are doomed.

Can we do something like punkbuster for IL2FB 1946?

The issues are well known to Oleg and I do not see the point in continuously posting screens and videos of all the ways one can cheat. If anything it only gives people ideas.

We do not need 5 new post about it everyday. Oleg knows and thats all that matters. Is he going to correct the issue remains to be seen. If he does not continuous post does not enlighten the public but rather make them paranoid.

I do not see how we are doomed anyway. According to many cheating has been an issue in the sim for a very long time although after 6 years I have yet to see one. Perhaps its the people I choose to fly with and the servers I choose to fly in. I have no worries about the vets of the sim running cheats as its usually the newbies that dont respect the sim that will. And if they are its not doing them any real good as far as I can see...lol. If this was an FPS title I would be worried but seeing how its a simulator I can not see it appealing to the cheating masses. And again between UBI and here how many doomed speeches do we need?

That already has been hacked as well - there is no way to stop cheaters and hackers in this game.

They can cheat very very slightly in order not to be debunked... otherwise any obvious cheat will be spotted in a matter of seconds..... people are playing this game for years they can spot these things.

And NTRK's are just about the ideal tools for the job.

Yes, its a community problem that has to be resolved by the community. Oleg cant do much more with it.

You can control the pilot outside the plane, and go back to the plane!!! :lol:

IF memory serves, IL2 was not designed to use 6DOF due to the way the 3D cockpits where made(certain pilot viewing angles using 6DOF would show gaps in the cockpit that where not programmed in), but I can imagine it would possible to apply the zooming function for TrackIR users with no ill-effects or advantage when compared to non-TrackIR users.

Regarding the sound Mod and from what I have heard, it seems to have increased the realism and quality of sounds on some of the planes(?). I've also heard that it can be used as a cheat because you can hear other enemy planes from further away (which seems daft/not very "real" to me).
Either way, it shows that there is still quite a few things that can be done with this sim to enhance the immersion factor, which IMHO, is one of its week points.

I have not got a clue what the make-it-your-self-utility is...Something to do with a pie? :)

my observation about the sound HACK is more that the people wanted more "balls" for the sound - realism does not count much.

i didnt realize the hacking of flight models had become so advanced !

and if the checksum security feature doesnt work either, then that basically kills the whole online scene, because you will forever doubt that a plane performing better then yours is legitimate.

Yeah, a "paradise" of cheesy hacked together 3D models that in no way represent the actual cockpits.
