Anyone playing in 5.1 tried the Ambisonic?
I can't say if it works well in Stereo but the Ambisonic Native is much better defined sound. Try it.
Now if only they would fix the bug where the wheel sounds don't stop when you get in the air... |

I am running Ambisonic with 5.1 so far I think it is the best Sound option. Should also work with 7.1.
|
Is it working now!? Beta Patch?
|
Works fine here and is the best sound choice available IMHO.

I'm using Ambisonic too, with headphones, gives what seems to me to be a more full sound, haven't really analyzed it though.
Just as a side-note, can't use anything but 'Stereo' when exporting AVI's out of the track player, or the sound disappears altogether, but I don't think anyone's using that feature and you can just switch back and forth anyway. Just thought I'd mention it. |

However, one point for those choosing Ambisonc, it uses cpu cycles to decode without dedicated Ambisonc hardware, and will not make use of any other sound hardware for decoding, this will cause a hit to fps in systems where the cpu may be the limiting factor. |
I've tried both Surround and Ambisonic (I have 5.1 speakers) and although I can hear sound from my rear speakers in both modes I hear no variation in output when turning my head in the cockpit. Does surround actually work in this game re positioning ect, or is it also broken/bugged?

What does 'undecoded' mean here and how it is going though my 5.1 speakers? Can Creative drivers for instance decode it correctly?
Btw do you have a sub-woofer channel output from the game in 5.1 mode or have to cut-off low frequencies from front channels? |

i found something out 1. the sound settings is messed up by choosing surround, the center speaker is not working ingame - changing to 6-channel fix this problem. 2. i changed soundmode=0 to soundmode=3 (il-2 best 3d modus) sound is now changing when turning my head. |
There seems to be a bit of a gremlin in the way the Config.ini/ memory managements works.
The Config.ini doesn't save until the sim is exited from. Set the speaker selection, then re start the sim and the settings will take... if you just switch between speaker selection settings to test - yes, they mix up. Similar thing happens with the Video settings |
